Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Just so that you all know, I've already replaced the logic board on my iBook. I did that last spring or early summer.
First of all, the battery life is shot. I know it can be replaced but with all the problems there is no point to replace it. When the screen is on it's brightest setting it's quite dim. It shuts off randomly (most likely due to battery). The charger (which is brand new) won't keep a solid connection. I've thought, "hey, if the battery sucks just keep it plugged in." Nope, that doesn't work. So, I've tried keeping it plugged in and letting the battery charge completely and it still doesn't turn on. Oh, yeah, it takes all night for that thing to fully charge. That has never happened before. that little thing gets rather hot. I think I've used my iBook to its fullest extent.Buh. That's all fixable, but at this point, I'd have to agree that you're better off just going for a new one.

I'm trying to decide how much I want to drive tomorrow to get in a ride. Do I go down to the metric north of Charlotte and ride in the group ride or do I stay closer to home and ride by myself. I need to get in 2 hours of tempo, flat to rolling on the metric or hill climb solo around here. What to do...

If I ever drive/own a car again, I am getting this (http://kingzombie.com/images/myzombieateyourhonorstudent.jpg) bumper sticker...
you should buy a hearse to put that on. at the very least, carry them with you and tag taxis.

Why do dang lunges make me so sore? It seems I never get used to them. :(

dunno. they dont make my legs sore. i do walking lunges as i don't like being in one spot. and, yes i am doing them correctly. i usually start out with about 25/leg and work up to about 40 or so per leg. i haven't been using weights with them tho. i figure my weight alone is good enough.

I am hoping! There are a lot of ifs that have to fall in place for me to be there, but I'm planning on it, for now.
Things were strangely quiet, so the fearful father began to search the house. He heard faint voices down the hall. No boys were to be found in either bedroom. The dog was missing. Yet the voices persisted. He followed them down the hall. Ah, they are behind this door.
Wait, that is the door to the bathroom. Dare he open it. Fearing the worst, yet praying for the best, his hand reaches for the knob. Slowly, he turns the handle and pushes the door open. He finds the six year old sitting on the toilet, reading of the many wonders of the American railroad system, his black and white dog sitting by his side.
And the three year old, where is he? Where else but in the clothes hamper, giggling amid st a pile of dirty socks and damp towels. Anywhere else this would seem bizarre, but here, here in casa de Jsharr, it is just another day in paradise.

awww, jeff, so cool. i remember, vaguely, when my kids were that age:)
I feel like I'm going to have butt spurts. Plus my stomach feels like it's going to spurt from the other end. Spicey bbq sauce for the win. .:barf:.
I think I drank more tonight than on any one night when I was out in Charlotte. Now I'm drunk and probably going to bed soon. N and J were great company.
Just got back from a nice nighttime ride on the fixed gear bike. No idea how fast or far, but that's okay. It was nice out. And I only almost died once!

No seriously, glad you're ok. What happened?

hi msincredible...and x..glad you are ok
Came upon some train tracks in the dark. 45-ish degree angle to the road. The asphalt around the tracks was in poor condition, and there was a pretty serious rut. Almost took me down, and scared the piss out of me in the process. :)
(And yes, I had a headlight, but I couldn't see the canyon until the last second.)
(Also, it's very hard to type when you're being continually mooned...)

Scary stuff. I have tracks/ruts like that on one of my commutes but never tried it in the dark. Usually I just hang on and hope for the best. Glad you made it ok.

Normally what I'd do in such a situation is swing out and hit the tracks at a 90 degree angle. But the shoulder is already small there, and there was no time to look behind me for traffic. So yeah, it turned into the holding-on-for-dear-life thing.
x, I like your lht. Nice photo.Thanks. :)

most of my tracks are at 45 degrees, always makes you have to swing out into traffic at the most inconvenient times....
Yeah, not a fun thing to have to do, sometimes. How's the condition of the road surface itself around there, in general?

Not great, lots of potholes, rough roads, and currently debris. How's yours?
It varies. This happened in a pretty industrial area, which is pretty bad. Some of the more main roads aren't too bad, though.
Very few areas around here hold a candle to some of the awful roads/areas I've seen in and around the Bay area, though. The book on ****ty roads was written there, it seems. :p

There's some really "fun" bits on 101 - lanesplitting between two lanes with grooves and level changes is interesting, to say the least, and a few spots that turn my motorcycle into a pogo stick.
Yeah, 101 seems to be pretty hit or miss like that.
The thought of pogoing on a motorcycle is... not a pleasant one.

Depends on what kind of death-grip they can manage. ;)

And that depends on how good a, um, friend, they are.
I've only ever had passengers heavier than me, including up to and over twice my weight. Interesting effects on the suspension!
