In trying to remove both oxygen sensors to figure out which one was bad, I just broke one. I replaced that one, and judging by my engine light still being on and my diagnostic computer still saying I have an o2 sensor problem, the other one was bad. So far, I have spent 200 bucks on the computer, 16 on a o2 sensor socket, 65 on the sensor, and now I'll be spending another 65 to get another sensor. All this to avoid spending 170 having my local shop fix it for me. Oh well, at least its a learning experience.
The good news is that I have recently decided to save some money by buying a used Corvette or Camaro at the end of the summer rather than spend the 8 G's or so that it was going to take to give my Crown Vic the amount of power I want. It could have been pretty cool having a huge ugly car that could smoke a lot of stock sports cars, and I may one day build it up, but at least until I'm done with college I've decided it was a dumb idea.
Just got back from 50 miles with the Road cycling club. It was a great ride today about a 17mph avg. :) Shower, food, some liquids and then I'm riding 20 miles to my boss's cookout and then 20 miles home later. Woo Whoo!:D
Also bought a new Trek 4900 Mt bike last night. Going riding with my little brother tomorrow.:)
Nice man!! I was thinking about the 4900 but its too low end for me. But that is the color I would have wnated and that bike looks awesome man.

Went MT biking with my brother today. Only rode 8 miles, since he is kinda out of shape (not fat, just has no stamina)LOL. I went sooo easy and kept him with me except through two really fun snaking sections of singletrack that offer the opportunity to cut loose a bit. It was fun though...and after 92 miles on the road bike yesterday, it loosened up my legs.:)
The 4900 is good, but..well...different than what I am used to in a mountain bike. The frame is solid and it handles pretty well(stable). It's predictbale, doesn't do anything you wouldn't expect and seems to have good front to rear balance. But the Crank, Bottom Bracket and Front Deraillier are really crap. And I mean crap! Those are three things I will have to change in order to truly enjoy riding this bike past this season. Like I said, it's sturdy and solid handling, but it's not anywhere near as nimble and responsive as my Klien was. I cut the front steerer tube down already, as it was tall enough for SHAQ to ride on and the lower bar position suits me much better. A lot of value for the price though. Rented the DVD Eight Below for tonight.:D
My friend has an 03 or 04 4900, I like the slack geometry, it doesn't feel like your hunched over. But, I think the components were a bit better a few years ago, it seems to accelerate quickly and such. I liked it.
Did you sell the klein?

Did you sell the klein?
Yep. To my brother. He didn't realize what a real MTB was until he got on that. He loves it. I have a small bit of seller's remorse. But have first option if he ever sells it.

I'm still working on cleaning out my office. The old computer still works, but it still has video issues. Not sure if it's the card or the mobo. Thinkin' about taking out the aftermarket card and trying to run it just off the on-board vid. Got some kind of error message, but I can't tell what it says 'cause of the screwed-up video. Takin' a break from that so I can concentrate on actually cleaning instead of playing around with an 8-yr-old computer....

Lol, thats funny. You sold a good bike, and then promptly bought a lesser bike.

Pretty much. But with a very sound reason for doing it. It was a tough decision. But I needed the time trial bike. And since the last two years I only mt bike 6 to 10 days a summer, the Klein was nice..but I didn't need it. The TT bike I needed to start competing seriously in TT events. So I sold it, built a killer TT bike, and replaced it with a decent MTB.
If money were no object, it would be different. But I've gotta' be realistic. I had to make a choice, life's that way very often. I don't regret it though. My new TT bike is awesome:D , AND.... I still have a nice new MTB to hit the trails with...Just not a Klein;) :D
Watched Eight Below DVD (Excellent Movie) and now I gotta get some sleep. I have to work Monday. Good Night All You Fooster!

Don't be jealous, man! It's just a Monster 620. Available at your local dealer for only $7000.:) You might even be able to find a used one. I can recommend it most highly, I assure you!:D

Are you sure it's the sensor and not the actual catalytic converter? If the cc is bad that too will throw off the readings to the computer. My friend always used gas treatment in her car and it took lots and lots of money to find out the readings were coming from a damaged cc from using all of that gas treatment.
Another idea is that if your car is "tweaked" like mine, I just changed everything on the power progammer to read differently the cold air intake. Since I messed with it, the readings were that it wasn't getting enough gas and would bog out the motor. Did you pop out any screens on the air intake?
Or am I way off base? :)

Or am I way off base? :)Ultimate test would be actual results on emissions testing. Any of those little bottles of octane-boosters using organo-metallics would clog a catalytic and ruin it over time. If you've got both high HC and high NOx, that's a sure sign of a bad catalytic. There's no way to program around that since increasing HC would usually lower NOx while decreasing HC increases NOx. If both are high, your cat is shot...

Oh well, at least its a learning experience. Also simple enough to get the "universal" Bosch 13913 O2-sensor (http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/mmp/ford~thunderbird~oxygen_sensor~parts.html) (3-wire heated), snip off the connector and crimp your old one on. A lot of "bad sensor" mis-diagnoses by the computers can be attributed to bad-grounds on the sensor. While the heater has a power & ground wire, the signal's ground goes through the exhaust-pipe and corrosion over time can make the signal weak, sporadic and out-of-spec, thus triggering the failure light on the computer. Sensor could be fine, just need to sand the mating surface on the exhaust to get a good ground. Also good idea to wire/bolt on a ground-strap for the exhaust.

Good morning!
Working. Bleh. Will check BF and FOO periodically during the day. :-)
Three days off in a row for me. Not trying to gloat, cycle17, hang in there dude. ;) Monday and Wednesday are my regular days off, then throw in the 4th...tadaahhhh!
Going out on my 62-miler today - that's my Every Monday Rain Or Shine Ride - then coming home, eating a couple of cheesburgers on onion bagels (favorite!) and a big organic baby greens salad. Then Wimbledon, and chatting up my favorite lady in the world. Tomorrow? Ride, pig out, Wimbledon, chatting up ladyfriend!!!! Wednesday? Go do passport thingie with daughter (her music school is going to Germany this summer), eat lunch at a restaurant with my her and my son, then take my son to the LBS to get a bicycle for his birthday present. Going to get him a vintage bike like my '87 Trek 560...steel all the way...at a cool shop that has TONS of stuff.
All of my favorite things wrapped up in three days.
Peace, y'all.

Most of the office is deserted today. The half I'm on, in particular, is more or less empty. Therefore I decided to work naked. I feel liberated and I can save the company a few bucks by keeping the AC a little higher than normal.
I feel like im getting bronchitis.

Hey Cycle! Thai food is SO good! Yesterday was my "cheat" day from raw foods. It was SOOO hot! It made my nose run, and it made me pant a bit. Then I acted all giddy and giggly for a while. :) It was kind of like a little pepper high. LOL

hehehe! Damn hot peppers straight! You are pretty brave! What sucks is when you eat so much hot stuff, but the only thing you have to drink is water! It just spreads it around and makes it worse! LOL that's how it was last night, but I couldn't stop eating it! It was just hurting so good! ;)

Now that I changed both o2 sensors, all is well. The funny thing is that I was about a day away from dumping about 1,500 bucks into a custom 3" X pipe and Cobra shortys (there would have of course been no cats or o2 sensors involved) and another 3-400 bucks on a chip, then the light went on, and I got cold feet and decided to get a new car this fall.
On the subject of cold air intakes, I did consider getting one, but it would be tricky to install on a Crown Victoria for an amature gearhead such as myself since it would have to be a part designed for a Mustang.
