Are you still planning on changing the handlebars, jyo?

Yup. Gotta pick up the bullhorns next week, then slide on a brake lever, tape it up, etc. Should give me at least one more hand position plus be good for ramming tourists. :D

Actually it wasn't so hot this time. Usually it's just about all I could take. Tastey, nonetheless.

Hi, Everyone.
I'm not going to go in the direction of, um, eating apples, killing kittens, and so forth. I have housekeeping to keep me busy right now.
Tomorrow and Sunday I'll be out at the BCM Bike Rally. Maybe I'll see some of you there.
After that, I'll be away for a while preparing for and undergoing eye surgery due to Glaucoma. I hope to be able to see well enough after that so that I can continue to ride. Please wish me good luck. If you were in my place, I'd do the same.
I hope you are well. Have a good day, everybody.

Good luck with your surgery powerhouse! I hope everything goes well for you!!
On a related note, I think I've read that marijuana is good for glaucoma. Have you heard this as well?

When I am in the mood I add vanilla soy milk to my coffee. Adds flavor and sweetens as the same time.
Others time I just drink it black. Of course I wear a cowboy hat when doing it. :D

Good luck powerhouse! Is it surgery on one eye or both? Do you have glaucoma in both and when will you know if the surgery is successful?

I'VE BEGUN FIXING MY ROADBIKE!!!!!!!!
Ritchey Comp carbon fork incoming in a week. Finally found an affordable 1" stereer carbon fork with metal steerer tube (I don't trust carbon for that application yet).
This is so cool, I will be able to use my land rocket once again....the joys of going fast enough to disturb the drivers all around me....it's fun when the cagers who usually tell bikers to get off the road yell at me to "slow the f*** down!". :D
Good luck with the eye surgery, powerhouse. I hope it goes quickly, painlessly and heals fast.

I guess a better question would be why I didn't insist that another method of shipping be used.
Oh well.
powerhouse, hope you enjoy your weekend of riding. And good luck with your surgery afterward.
My afternoon's reaction is under way. I'm hoping it will be done before the 5 PM grad program happy hour.

True with all but one other job that I've had. And as Karldar pointed out, my Union isn't nessasarily helping me with anything. As a matter of fact, just about 100% of union dues go to health care costs, which couldn't matter less to me because I'm covered by my dad's insurance until I graduate from college, and even if I used the insurance, its only a summer job. (I'll be back to a non union 15-20 bucks an hour in the fall.)

Subtract the union dues and you're still way ahead in salary, so of course the union helps you. BTW, are you one of those people that don't think they should pay taxes to the schools just because you don't have a kid in them??? Certain personal sacrifices are always necessary for the greater good of the whole, whether it be the overall union membership or society in general. Sorry if you can't understand that.
Don't want to turn this into a political thread, but I agree with randya.
I'm missing happy hour because my reaction's taking too long. Oh well.
On the bright side, the SoCal BikeForums roadies have agreed on the route I proposed for a group ride later this month. Including the pre-ride extension that two of us are riding, it will make for a coastal century. And it will be on the one year anniversary of my first ride. I'm excited. :)

What can I say? I'm a bit cynical.;) I assumed that you were referencing labor reform in general rather than Michigander's specific union. Just making an observation, earlier.
I think it all boils down to perspective. If one feels that their union/employer isn't helping any, they'll feel disgruntled no matter how good they've actually got it, in reality.
Finished the dishes and laundry, for now. Ducati time!:D

Got back from a 42 mile ride. laundry, shower, lite diner, minor bike maintenance, and then get up tomorrow morning and ride 40 to 50 with the club. TT bike is at the LBS "next week" they said on getting it back. Oh! and I'm officially on vacation until the 17th. Wooo Whooo! G'night all.
Almost done with work. Yeah, it's been a somewhat long Friday. I get the feeling I'll be back to such longer hours being routine since I'm starting to feel the pressure of being a 4th year grad student (as of a week ago) and still having not managed to publish anything.

I'm reading different bike forums and learning what I can about mountain biking and whatnot.
I'm thinking about investing in a pair of padded bike shorts because my tailbone is f-ing sore.
I was thinking about riding around on my bike before going to work, but I'm feeling kinda lazy.
