Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm a coffee bean slinger at the 'bucks.
I want free Starbucks stuff. Hook me up!
Basically done with work. Pretty early for a change. I know I'm trying to eat healthier, but I feel like having a beer and pigging out to destress from a tough few days in the lab. I don't think I've had red meat yet this week, which is extremely unusual for me. Maybe I'll have some for dinner. I'll try to burn the excess calories off on my Saturday ride as I try to chase after some faster BikeForums roadies on a mountainous 60-miler.

Making plans for my future. Figuring out real estate stuff........erghhhhh. Lotsa work. I should be in bed by now...
I napped for 4 hours after dinner. Probably not a great idea seeing as now I'm having a bit of trouble sleeping. So I'm bumming around a bit before sleeping.

Typo, that was supposed to be 12 hour. This is what happens when you spend WAY too much time playing with servers and network/telecom switches all day....then surf bikeforums, then play world of warcraft until I meet my in game goals ar get another 3-day ban...then go cause trouble on yahoo messenger....and possibly, possibly go ebaying (yeah right...I WILL go ebaying....ebay is my crackrock).

Rode 40 miles this morning after breakfast. Felt great! It's hot here today. Yah! took shower and had a little lunch, making a shopping list for the house and for what I'm cooking when my date comes over tomorrow night. My brother and I are going to see Pirates Of The Carribean 2 tonight. Drinking a big bottle of water to rehydrate...That's about it.

pheard... I fell off my bike 2 weeks ago, I have a sprained ankle and damage to my achilles tendon, i havent been able to walk in 2 weeks and they are giving me 2 more weeks to be able to, no running for 8 weeks and no biking( shhhh) for 3 more weeks, so taking my mtn bike around the neighborhood was quite an accomplisment for me :)

Oh, mountain bike!! I was wondering if that was what you meant. For future reference mountain bike in short can be spelled as MTB. :) awesome though, I'm glad you have a mountain bike, what kind is it? :p

Is your achilles tendon that thing right behind your ankle.....right above your heel?

yes and it's connected all the way up your leg, so the pain travels your whole leg.. I swaer I said having a kid was less painful than this, it was straight pain for 14 days, non stop :(
That sucks. You should listen to the doctor on this one. All I know is that most of the time, your body is able to heal itself.....well, unfortunately, your achilles tendon CANNOT heal.
Basically, if you ever want to put someone in a wheelchair, all you have to do is take a knife and stab someone there and they'll probably never walk again. Since your case may not be as severe, please listen to your MDs on recovery. You don't want to push it and risk permanent damage.
Take care.

I think this deserves pics of a purple, green and tan SBW.
So I took my road bike out on its maiden voyage today and wrote a bunch of stuff in the Roadie forum about it. Basically, I need to learn how to ride it. And I need new handlebars and maybe a new stem. I'll get the handlebars first and see if I'm comfortable enough w/ the existing stem. Ride impressions are basically, wow, it's fast! Thank goodness for riding fixed gear to make me stronger. :D

BDG...Don't do it. Please, please please stay off that ankle until it's healed. Don't lose countless months because you thought it was O.K. Let your body heal properly and you'll be ready to come back strong when it does. Screw around and rush things/push it and that ankle and tendon could bother you for the rest of your life. Please be careful!!:o We want you to come back 100% even if it takes a bit longer.;) :)

I'm just really happy. Today has been such a great day!!! I need to calm down.
Went down to the teller to get out a couple hundred. I kept thinking some asian dude was gunna jack me up for my moola. Oh, and some guy was going like 40 in a 25 zone, and I turned in front of him. Luckily that car can go 0 to 60 in like 7 seconds. Or something like that.

Not trying to be preachy or anything.;) It's just I went through this type of situation last Fall (I was right at the end of riding season though) and I tried to ride before I was fully healed. It cost me extra months before I could get back on a bike. It's tough, I know when you are used to being active and fit, then get injured. I don't want to see you reinjure yourself or do permanent damage. Just be careful and take it slow. I care, that's why I posted.:D ;)
