Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Geesh! I come back from a sweltering 45 mile ride in brutal heat and the first few new posts I read are like this one above.
I think you need to take another look at how you are/have been coming across lately Pheard. While most of us tend to overlook little things in posts here and there...this post above is not very nice at all. In fact it's downright rude. BDG's first language is French, English is her second. So all her posts aren't flowing novel like entries. So what. I still understand them.;) Taking it to a personal level and directing your comments/insults at one individual on an internet forum is not the way to conduct yourself. You dissapoint me....but I don't think you really care.
I have to agree, cycle, not for nothing pheard, but that post about coming to my house with a bat was alittle over the top. Come on now dude.........

To the mods...please don't lock/delete the thread. Whatcha Doin' has been a place to "check in" with other BF and Foosters.
I suppose we could create a new Whatcha Doin' but let's just get back to have normal, civilized, funny posts about the stuff we all enjoy. Or better yet, go ride your bikes. I'm going out for a ride for the second time today because that's what I love. I don;t want ot come in here and see pages of posts about people fighting and insulting others. I'll save my opinions of the few here who have made FOO a less than pleasant place to be lately..they know who they are anyway, so let's just let it go and move on with things. PLEASE.

Hmmm...I seemed to have wandered into A&S by mistake. Oh well, I'll let you know what I'm doing. I'm cooking brown rice for dinner. The rice takes longer to cook than the rest of dinner which is chicken, teriyaki and tamarind sausages w/ red peppers.
I also took a break from riding today cuz sometimes a lazy Sunday is the best way to beat the heat. And Mythbusters is on and watching Adam get shocked by a Van der Graaf generator is always fun.

I'm feeling really lazy today. Bike related things I could have done, but didn't: I could've swapped out the too narrow handlebars on my roadie w/ the stock handlebars from my fixie. The too narrow ones are anatomic drops and the others are wider, classic drops. The other thing I could've done was swap out the old mtb's saddle w/ the new Brooks, but I'd have to get out the chain tool, remove the chain that locks the saddle to the rear triangle, etc. In either case, both require electrical tape and I was too lazy to go to the store. I did put some Proofide on the Brooks and put my old seat bag on the roadie, so I did get something done.

Been doing a fair amount of traveling this summer, Jyo. When I'm home, I've been working or riding my tail off. I've not had much time to tour around BF much lately, just kind of pop in every once in a while. Looks like I've come back just in time for a bit of drama, but it all seems like same stuff, different day to me. I think Cycle17 is right on the money: people just need to get out and ride for a bit! (well, those that can of course: sorry for your injury, BDG)
How has your summer been going?
OH, and right now, I just finished icing my calf....felt a bit of tendonitis or something for the past couple of days...and am going to go finish a couple of Sunday-get-ready-for-Monday things before bed.
night all!
Play nice or go find another sandbox!
cheers!

So I went out on my Mt bike with my Tevas (sports sandals) and rode down to the video store and rented a dvd. I threw the dvd in the cargo pocket of my shorts and then on the way back I stopped at Friendly's Ice Cream take out window and got a small strawberry sundae with chocolate chip ice cream. MMMmmmm!! Yummy!! It was so dam humid, but I sat outside with my helmet off a few feet from my bike and had the ice cream, taking in the last offical day of my vacation. I rode around the local area some more and then cruised around the local apartment complex I live in. It was nice. I only did just under 5 miles at 9.8 mph, (did my 45 miles on the road bike this am) but it was relaxing and burned off a few of those ice cream calories.
On that note...I'm giving even more thought to building or purchasing another bike....AAAaaahh!! A hybrid/commuter. I have considered a Trek Portland, but I really am madly in love with the new Soho. droool factor on this bike is very, very high. That may be my next bike purchase. Help!!! I can't stop!!! I'm gonna need a bigger apartment or have to get rid of some furniture pretty soon. My date came over yesterday and I had to find places to put my bikes! LOL
Anyway...hope everyone has a good evening.

CM: Summer's going good. Lots of free things to do like the Sirens concert at Coney Island I went to yesterday. Been doing lots of riding, mostly just toddling about and delaying rides home from work and finding excuses for running errands by bike, etc.
Cycle17: I think what you need is one of them new Raleigh One Ways. Singlespeed, comes standard w/a rack and fenders. Or a Rivendell. Or you could build up a black frame w/ an internally geared hub, a dyno hub up front, fenders, rack, and honey colored Brooks with matching Brooks handlebar tape on moustache bars. It'd be an instant classic.
BDG: Watch out. One of these days I might be one of them tourists. Dunno what there is to see in NH, but hey, ya never know.
For Jebus sake stop it!
Haha that was on the Simpsons.. Jeeebuus :roflmao::roflmao:

Just got through talking to two of my closest friends ever. :) I am really lucky to have such nice people in my life. They are very encouraging and always want me to be the best that I am. And they are members here, as well! Thank you for the support and always being there for me. And I promise you, I WILL conquer that steep hill on my FS. I will be the only one on a FS amongst the sea of roadies to do it. I will stick out like a sore thumb but I will do it!!! ;)
Glad to hear it, Siu. Glad to hear your closest friends are so encouraging. And nothing like a steep hill to bring out the best of one's cycling.
Umm, what's a FS?
Full suspension, some people think it means front suspension.

The roadies were stopping at the bottom of the hill to eyeball it out and refresh themselves before going up it. It's like they were discussing their strategy. They all made it up but one guy was really having a hard time. I watched as 5 groups took turns going up.
Then when nobody was looking, that crazy Kamakaze Asian thing in me came out and I went all for it. I was going along pretty well, until it turned and became steeper. That's when I realized I didn't have enough air in my back shock. But I kept a pumpin'!:)
I almost reached the top, 30 feet more to go when the asthma kicked in. I was mush. It was a 100ft rise in 200ft.
But wait till next week. I'm doing it!!!!! I WILL!!!! On a 30lb FS with wide knobbies! :D

Start of the fiscal new year and I've been enrolled in the 401k at work (unmatched, of course...). Took me by surprise as I wasn't expecting this sudden decrease in my paycheck. Oh well. Retirement, here I come!
Took a few days off and took DLO and niece to Canada's Wonderland. We had a really nice time. We would have stayed longer (had plans to go to the Royal Ontario Museum) but niece's cousin was in a really bad accident in Tennessee so we had to hurry to get her home.
We had the awards on Wednesday and they were a huge success. More media there than actual award winners but that's okay - worked for us. Now all that's left is the wrap up.
Im about to go to the bike shop to order me a fuel ex 6:D
I just came back from the plebotimist with a hole in my right arm, got a cool Bugs Bunny band-aid tho. :)

Went out for lunch. It's hot. Tarzan hot. I think I saw a camel get heat stroke. Bought a dri-fit shirt and a cuban sandwich. Saw some cycling pants for $25 so I think I'll get them later this week. Never too early to shop for winter.

70 degrees outside, feels hot to me. Hottest it gets here is 80 degrees. Usually sunny days can still be cold and have a cool breeze by the coast.
