I'm eating an apple. It's soft and mealy. Where, oh where, have all the good apples gone?
Did you buy it from a coffee shop? I have had no good experiences buying apples from coffee shops.

Wow, and you haven't even seen me in my pirate outfit! ;) I'll take that as a compliment because she is hot. :)

Albertson's. There are two grocery stores I go to and both have a pretty bad fruit section. There's a Wild Oats here. I'm guessing I'll probably have to start buying my fruit there.

Hmmm...yeah sometimes grocery stores have s****y fruit sections. Wild Oats has good stuff usually. I would really actually love to go to an orchard in the fall and pick my own fruit out off the trees! :)
Finishing up lunch. A bit frustrated at work. The bright spot of the day (so far, anyway) is that PFGS e-mailed to let me know that she landed an interview. And that she's determined to end up in San Diego. I can't wait to see her again. She has gorgeous eyes that Aphrodite would envy.

For some reason, I'm reminded of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer tries to return a plum he bit into cuz it wasn't any good. He got banned from the store.
As for work, I figured out how to avoid the dreaded next step. I just put it off until tomorrow. :D
As for Shadiyah looking like the voodoo priestess from Pirates, I think she looks more like Keira Knightley, but better looking.

Spam-kabobs sound absolutely wretched.
Just got home from dinner. I was eating where J and K work. (Neither of them there tonight.) Shrimp salad with avocado, blueberries, walnuts, apricot. And some Pepsi to wash it all down. (No alcohol tonight.) Never tried it before, but the salad was pretty good other than the shrimp. The shrimp was disappointing, which was a bit surprising since their shrimp skewers are really good. (But these shrimp were a lot smaller.)
Anyway, as I was about to leave, B--a waitress/bartender I know--came up to me and asked if she could join me. Sure, why not? I don't know her as well as I know J or K, but she's always treated me as a favored customer.
Did I mention that B is a triathlete? (I found this out last week when she asked what I was up to and I was telling her about my then-upcoming BikeForums ride. She loves cycling and was telling me about her triathlon training.) And that she plays soccer? (Found that out today. She had just come from her weekly soccer game.) And she looks the way a fit triathlete/soccer player might be expected to look.
Anyway, I kept B company as she ate dinner, and she shared some of her dinner with me. (I rarely refuse food, even if I've already eaten.) A nice relaxing second dinner. No time as a result for riding on the trainer... gotta get to bed so that I can be up to watch coverage of the Tour tomorrow morning. But that's okay... it was nice getting to know B a bit better.

Debating whether I want to go to work today, or call in sick/dead/hostage, sit around and go through netflix to find every non-porn movie where jenna jameson or chasey lain has made a cameo appearance.

Why? Spam is pork shoulder with spices added.
We used Spam cubes, pineapple chunks, and green pepper. Made a Teryaki sauce from Soy, brown sugar, and pineapple juice, thickened slightly with corn starch then broiled for about five minutes a side. The sauce got nicely sticky and the peppers slightly blanched, but still mostly crunchy. It was absolutly delightful.
I like Spam. Spam good. You got Spam?
I'ma be right over. Save me a kabob!
Sorry mate, all gone... the rats have to eat too ya know :)
Oh, and they loved it!

Good morning! ( I think) got a few hour sleep in, got woken up by the Inn keeper who insited that the guests werent getting any hot water at 1 in the morning, they just werent patient enough to let the water run through a few minutes to give it time to travel from the basement to the 4th floor!
anyway, lots of new threads in here.. refreshing!! :)
^^^ You don't have a constant circulation hot water system at the inn?
Remind me to stay at the Holiday Inn!

When most people are just starting their day. I have been awake all night due to being a nightworker/freightline dispatcher. Tonight was an average night with 80 some odd phone calls to move drivers. Had 1 driver with a flat on his container in Savannah, 1 driver with engine trouble in Charleston, 1 driver with no lights on trailer in Dublin, and just little ol' me to help them. :(

I dont think asking the guest to book an extra night on order to wait for the water to get to the 4th floor os too much to ask:roflmao: :roflmao:

Gotta keep an eye on that bottom line :)
I'm sitting her in a haze thanks to our power going off last night for five hours and the fear if I fell asleep I might be late to work.
btw....can you believe that they broke into shows last night to say that Dave Navarro and Carmen Electra broke up. Who cares! It's just wrong. You can't cut into Gordon Ramsay yelling at the chefs on "Hell's Kitchen" for anything less than a national disaster - unless the national disaster consists of Dave Navarro being back on the market.

You may want to give him some time to get tested. One look at Dave Navarro requires heavy shots of penicillin
Not that I have anything against Dave Navarro. He and Tommy Lee make a lovely couple.

I'm drinking coffee, avoiding work and wondering what to do for lunch. Spam kabobs sound good right about now 'cept Stacey and her horde of rats ate 'em all so now I'm sticking paperclips into my Voodoo Stacey doll.

Sitting. Stairing. Thinking. Waiting for this coffee to work it's magic.
Yesterday afternoon's reaction in the lab was a "successful failure". It didn't do what I hoped it would do, but it did something that might be useful for another problem in our project. And in doing so, it goes against the established reactivity profile--as published by other groups--of the reagent mixture I used. Followed up on this insight today. Something interesting happened when I tried applying those reaction conditions toward the other problem in our project. Whether or not the results are useful, don't know yet. (Sadly, interesting results aren't good enough.)
It would help if I could afford to run speculative experiments on more than 0.0005 grams of material at a time. That's a tiny amount of material on which to do organic synthesis.

We just started neutral territory introductions of the two little hairless girls to some of the colony members they will be moving in with on Saturday. Things went remarkably well.

Pounding my head on whether to fix up my roadie (paypal screwed up and rejected my transfer...so I decided to think about it some mroe, figuring this is luck telling me i am screwing up), or to buy that fixed gear/SS I want....the fixie is about the same price as fixing my roadbike.
Freaking decisions decisions...
...oh, and I have to get this saddle sore checked out...it's pretty darn painful, and it's making it hard to even sit down.
