Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I am at the office trying to make 5 minutes of actual work last for 8 hours. This is gonna be challenging.

Reading road maps of South America and wondering why I ever thought it might be a good idea to try and cross the Darrien Gap on a motorcycle.
As well as trying to explain to my Dad, who just bought a BMW GS after 25 years on a Gold Wing, that dual purposes, unlike Gold Wings, do not need roads to reach a given destination.

crap! I had my midyear review today. The review itself was good, and the list of accomplishments was more than impressive enough. My ex boss is the one that performed the review since he just moved to another dept. Although I have done good work, and more than my share, it seems some people have noticed me spending to much time on the internetz and this must stop. So, basically, I am one of, if not the most productive person in the dept., I get more work done in far less time than the avg. joe, and I am still being reprimanded over a little free time pleasure. F!
So, it seems as though I will be limiting my interactions here for a little while, if not indefinitely.

Booooo
A friend works for a state agency and there was an intercube hissy fit leading to somebody getting snitched on for more surfing than allowed, but before disciplinary action could be taken, they had to audit general use, and they were shocked, SHOCKED, to find that productivity was not related to surfing activity.
So they uh took it all away from everyone.

Just got home from a ride + dinner with a couple people I climb with and rode with on Monday. They're both very new riders but are doing quite well. Stopped on the way home for a beer and snacks at Boston Pizza since being social is fun :D
I've been out and about a lot more lately, it's been nice. Sitting home alone gets old fast!

Just got back. Rode about 5 miles to meet some friends at a coffee shop and then hung out with them all afternoon. Got to talk about the ex-gf and now I feel better about not talking to her, although it still hurts. Then rode 3 miles home. Felt ok, not great. The leg and hip hurt like hell, but way better than it's been.

No no, I got to talk to my best friend about her. How angry I am towards her, stuff like that. It was very cathartic. I haven't talked to her for 2 days now...

Oh hellz yeah - after moving them to a Spam Only forum.
I'M BACK!!!
I know y'all missed me too. Had to go celebrate the 50th in style - which included funky meal that caused some funky burps (hmmmm - how come this steamed pork dumpling tastes like sweatsocks?) and then copious amounts of wine, booze and beer. Homemade wine, nice dark cream stout brews, scotch and then another friend brought over a 180 proof vodka and that rather finished the evening.
OY.
And that's why I stayed home yesterday. :D

Am I a dork because I'm super excited about having matching bottle cages on my road bike? I mean, it's never happened before. They match; they're the same and everything. It's so exciting...:D
A pretty bike is a fast bike, or something like that

I have moved cages from bike to bike, still running the same two matching cages I have had for 20 years plus on my Trek. I may end up changing cages on my Falcon because they do not match perfectly. One is slightly shinier than the other.
So, yes, you are a dork.
I just bought a cop's lunch.
Walked into Subway and a patrol officer was ordering a sandwich. Asked if I could buy her lunch. She said okay. I try to do this whenever I see a cop at a restaurant, but some departments will not allow their officers to accept such offers.
Try it some time. I think it made her day, she was totally happy when I said it was my way of saying thanks for serving.
note to self: dress up as cop, follow jsharr to restaurants.

Hm, yeah that is interesting. My sister is a cop, and I'm unclear if it is against their department rules but I know she always rejects such offers, becuase if down the road she would have to arrest you.... or not arrest you, it may look like a bribe
I never introduce myself, ask their name, anything, I offer to buy their meal, say thanks for serving and leave. I have also just paid for their meal privately at sitdown places and asked the waiter to tell them thank you from a citizen. Hopefully they do not see any artifice (pun intended) in my actions.
Some folks have all the luck. I just got a ticket for expired registration. :(
It is their job, they don't make the laws.....................
Sorry to hear this. BTW, if I were in your position, I would not pay it.:D
I know. But it's my roomies truck and sumbeech shoulda paid the registration. I'm gonna punch her face when she gets home.
