Shellac Update: Five coats down, one or two more to go and looking good. The color matches more closely now and I'm thinking of tracking down some hemp twine. Right now, I have to give the IRO the nod when it comes to looks and fun-to-rideness.

Seven coats of shellac later and my handlebars color are looking much closer to the honey colored Brooks. While I was waiting for the coats to dry, I swapped out handlebars from the narrow ones on the roadie to a wider set I had from my fixie. Should make a noticeable difference next time I ride. Just gotta mount they cyclocomp (yuck!), then hit all the housecleaning items on my impossibly long To Do list.

Happy Sunday, all!
am slowly waking up, watching MurderBall and gearing up to do some domestics before my club ride this afternoon.
How is everyone?
Wonderful, and you?
I just finished a delightful breakfast of thick, light, fluffy pancakes with mixed berries covered in Karo. Time for a nap.

Just got back from a late breakfast, parked my car, now I gotta do the cyclocomp and other crap on the list. I hate mounting cyclocomps. But on the bright side, the shellac job is dry and looks good if a little too shiny, but that'll go away once I get my greasy hands on 'em. All this talk of napping is making my mind convince me I need one even though I just woke up a little while ago.

OK, bike related To Do items are done and included, new Brooks saddle on mtb, mount cyclocomp and swap handlebars on roadie and shellac handlebars on fixie. Now the question is: which bike do I ride first? I have to put around 100 or so miles on the Brooks to break it in. I have to test out the roadie's new steering and comp and I have to see how the shellac feels on the fixie. Decisions, decisions.

Good afternoon! We're about to celebrate Pioneer Day here in Utah. It's crazy, people make more a of a big deal about it than the 4th of July. :) And its crazy hot today. :)
I just found out that the medication I'm taking for the leukemia, can cause heart failure. Damn. :(

If it ain't one thing it's another Stacey.
I'm eating spinach salad w/ mushrooms, bacon, and yellow squash w/ viniagrette dressing and broiled black cod w/ Hawaiian pink sea salt. Yummy! Also watching the Hot Chick even though it's stupid.
Shadiyah, I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. :( I don't know what to say. That's really sad.
Flippin, welcome back.
I've enjoyed some BikeForums group rides recently. Yesterday's 90 mile coastal ride was a lot of fun. Team Estrogen's ride is next Sunday.
CycleMagic, since you asked me about the gender of my bikes a while back, you might want to know that there's another bike joining the family, and there will now be more females than males.
2005 Specialized Allez Sport: commuter bike / trainer bike / backup bike (male) This bike's role is secure.
2006 Cervelo R3: the new prima donna climbing bike to arrive soon (female)
2004 Specialized Roubaix Comp: current primary bike in search of a new niche (female) The poor Roubaix feels a bit like a dumped girlfriend, but I hope she understands that I still love her. I just love the R3 more. If I had really wanted to get rid of her, I would have gotten the Cervelo Soloist Carbon (more of an all-around bike) instead of the R3 (ultralight climber). Most likely, the Roubaix will be readjusted to be more of a bike for social rides rather than a bike for hammerfests.

I am BFing until my peach cobbler is ready to come out of the oven. It has been blessed hot here and a hot dessert isn't quite the thing to do, but it is so yummy!
went on the club ride today and got caught in rain rain rain. It happened in the middle of our loop, which was nice as it cooled me off and gave me a second wind. Overall, a good day!
How's the GP racing, Stacey? Did you watch back in the 80's? Remember Kevin Schwantz? Now, THAT was some knee dragin'! :D

It was GREAT!!! Nicky Hayden won...again. that's eight this year. Looks like he's going to get the #1 plate this year.
Those were the days, real two-stroke GP bikes! Kevin, Wayne, Bubba and of course bad boy John Kozinski. Loved every minute of it :D

OH HECK yea! Back in those days, we didn't have cable and they didn't show it on TV, so my (now ex) husband and I would have to rent the VHS from the local bike shop and watch it a month late.
I did have the thrill of meeting Kevin earlier this year. A friend of mine is buddies with him and I got to go hang with them when he was in town visiting. Cool dude.
Good for you, EJ123.

Sounds like someone got their personal best of 1:45 up Mt. Baldy or Palomar or whatever. Or he got tired about reading about everyone's new bike and bought one for himself. ;)
Cyclemagic, the best way to cool down pie is w/ ice cream. Or you could put it in front of the a/c.
I'm watching tv and wishing I had some peach cobbler.

True, Jyo, but this stuff was so hot it was melting the spoon before I even got the drawer open! BUT...it is cooled down and it is soooo very tasty! YUM!

That about sums it up. I was going to get some upgrades on my Roubaix, so I decided rather than pour money into the Roubaix, perhaps I should get myself a bike worthy of upgrade-itis. A wheel upgrade is in the plans. Haven't picked out a good set of wheels yet. Zipp 202 tubulars would be cool, but probably not too durable for daily use. Plus, clinchers are more practical. But it's so hard to look at "light" clinchers and keep thinking in the back of my mind that I could get another half pound off by going to the Zipps.

At least w/ tubies, you can still ride when they're flat. Just go slow and stay upright in the corners. Of course, they're a PITA to change out...
I still want some peach cobbler. Pick me up on your way to CM's house jsc. And post pics of the R3 when you get it!

Yup! I'm old school, so even though the building is now known as the Met Life building, I still call it the Pan Am building. NY's a funny place. New names for streets and buildings are introduced, but the old names tend to stick around so people end up calling it by both names.
As for the reservations to the moon, I don't think they'll be honoring those reservations.

Waiting for parts to come in to get production up and going again.
I also have to work on a product pilot today, once those parts arrive....and fill in the meeting duties that my co-worker does when he's normally in....fun tmes, now all I need is the cyanide pill.

Who waxes their bikes anyways? I didn't know people did that.
To the people who are waiting on packages. NEVER order from wheelworld, they have to order the parts from the warehouse and its takes like 3 weeks to get to you.
