ahh once again..bike forums during english for the win. Today we are reading a play entitled the devil and danial webster, but my part isnt for about 10 pages
ChanMan, pay attention during class! You may not think that English class is important now, but later in your life, you will need to know about the devil and daniel webster. It's important stuff that you'll use every day of your life after high school! :D
Eating lunch. Not much good at the hospital cafeteria, but the prospective grad student reception is in five hours' time, so it's no big deal.
Reading a e-mail from my best friend's wife (also a friend of mine). My best friend talks with me more on the phone, and his wife e-mails more.

I don't think I remember anything about that story anymore. I forget who has a good song.. Devil went down to Georgia. he was looking for a soul to steal. he was in a bind ..

Didn't Daniel Webster end up beating the Devil by hitting him with unabridged version of his dictionary?

I just ate a Balance Bar (Yogurt Berry) that had a "Best By" date of JUL 14 04. Will I survive?
UPDATE: So far, so good. I'm now eating a bacon and tomato pizza.

I am slacking and definitely not working right now.
Whew ill be lol. finally this week is over and i can sleep in tomorrow.
Today for chemistry we went to the awesome chem teacher's lab room, and he showed us some stuff with dry ice. And my teacher was being boring again haha and she asked us stuff like "ok now whats the molar mass of CO2" lol.
Well I just finished a pizza from pizza hut (cheese and chicken with stuffed cheese crust yum). Hey jyossarian and I both had pizza today lol. Mm ice cream sounds pretty good right now to go with that pizza.;)
Any ways, hopefully the rain will go away soon. I dont think it has stopped since it started around like 1:30 pm. Maybe it will stop at night and I could take a night ride.

You finished the whole pizza? What size? When I'm really hungry (Sunday dinner, having gotten back from a multi-hour bike ride), I'll often eat 6-8 slices of a Meat Lover's pizza.
Hmm, thinking about pizza is getting me really hungry. Good thing the reception for the prospective students is in half an hour.

You must have some really good tasting toothpaste if that'll take care of it. LOL
 I like it, but it's not really that good. I just can't stand to dirty my teeth again right after brushing. Just one of my many quirks.;)

Haha oh noo lol theres no way I could finish a whole pizze unless I went a whole day without eating  I had 3 slices mm they were good :)

You're kidding, right?
Okay, I feel pretty dumb.:o It must have been the lack of sleep...or my incredibly poor memory.;)
Still doesn't explain how it ended up replacing Def Leppard considering I don't even have a copy of that song. I don't mean a ripped copy, either. Don't have that song at all. I thought it might be floating around my HD somewhere, but it's not...or I just can't find it.:(

Just finished a big improptu meeting in my project team. The other two members of the team were about to explode at each other. We're all a bit on edge, but I think and hope everyone's okay now. Now it's back to running reactions.
Thanks! :) That's the greatest compliment someone considering becoming a professor could get. (In my opinion, anyway. Many others would disagree.) Better to drill a few key concepts into the students' heads than to cram a bunch of facts into them without a solid understanding. The other key difficulty, aside from getting at difficult concepts in a manner where students can readily understand, is showing them how to apply those concepts in a way where the students feel capable and confident to apply those concepts themselves. I'm getting better at it, but that part I'm definitely still working on.
As for cars, I'm very familiar with the Infiniti G35. My sister has one, and I've driven it on several occasions, ranging from dealership test drives to short trips around town to an 800 mile weekend trip. It's a fabulously comfortable and fast car that is very competitively priced. But it's not a car I'm particularly thrilled to drive. The steering doesn't really have the right feel for me and the pedals feel too mushy. (Too much "luxury car" setup, too little "sports car" setup.) Also, the suspension isn't particularly well sorted, and the car feels less buttoned down than a BMW 3-series or an Audi A4. I know I'm being picky, but if I'm going to spend that much, then I'm going to be ultra-picky.
You're welcome! I wouldn't become a prof, if I were you(and I'm not, I don't think), but it's nice to know you'd be good at it, right?:D
Haven't actually driven one, but I forgot about the less than thrilling handling aspects of the G35. I got sucked in by the looks/features.:o What do I know anyway, my next vehicle will be a pickup. I want a sporty car, but just about anything is sporty compared to my current ride and a truck will be much more useful. I've still got my motorcycle and that's a hell of a lot of fun to ride. Gas prices will probably make me want to ride it even more.

JYo's seafood pot pie recipe:
1 pack of of pie crusts (3 to a pack usually) defrosted
Squid, shrimps (de-shelled), scallops, clams, oysters (smoked if you want), mussels, lump crab meat, etc.
butter and cream
frozen veggies
throw everything except the pie crusts in a pot, heat until the right consistency, toss in pie crust, cover w/ another pie crust, toss in oven until golden brown and delicious (GBD).
eat w/ a coke. great, i just ate lunch and i'm hungry again and my mouth is watering.
You are an evil, evil man! Ow, my tummy is trying to gnaw its way out! Not only are you in the club, I think you must be the president...seriously.
edit: forgot to mention that I had to deduct points for not including crawfish, but you're still way ahead in the polls....;)

Trying to not work and so I was trying to play a game and its either too easy to win or impossible to win
Just back from taking the dog to the after hours vet. He's a westie, nicknamed "Eeyore" because he's so mopey for a terrier. His real name's "Wrinkles". Don't ask.
Anyway, we noticed on Wednesday he was heving trouble jumping up on the couch. yesterday he was really favoring his right rear leg. Today he wouldn't even walk on it, holding it up at all times.
He's OK, just a bad sprain apparently. A little doggie anti-inflammatory and isolated rest for a week....

I also forgot the lobster and potatoes. Damn, this does sound good. Think I'll make one tomorrow. If I'm elected president, I'll make Friday seafood pot pie day for all of Lent.
About 30 minutes ago, finished entertaining prospective students for the day. That was fun. :) Much more fun than doing lab work. And then did my consulting work.
And then my parents called. They decided the whole car shopping timeframe could be sped up a bit if they simply drove down tomorrow afternoon, checkbook in hand. I guess I'll be test driving and buying this weekend. And I guess that my parents are paying for my car appears to be non-negotiable. Oh well, I'll make it up to them somehow. (And managing their money doesn't count... I already do that.)
I'm reading random articles on Wikipedia. That's how bored I am right now. My current article is Diode pumped solid state lasers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diode_pumped_solid_state_laser)
Holy crap, Wikipedia is awesome. Check this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Lakes%2C_Wisconsin) out. It's a Demographic of my little hometown. Pretty crazy that wikipedia would have something like that. Man, you can find all kinds of weird stuff on that site!

I'm eating ice cream. I know, big surprise.
SBW, boil ginger, lemongrass and some hot peppers together, strain, add honey and drink. Then get some sleep.
Im playing spider solitaire. I just saw the light from lightning through my window (which is like a foot away from me) and i guess it was a ginormous lightning bolt but in like .0001 of a second...BAM whole house shook. =O

Oh no! Gives a whole new meaning to computer virus! :( I hope it's just some minor food poisoning, and you'll feel better in the morning.
In any case, rest up, and get well soon. Let us know if you want us to type a bedtime story for you. :)

What difficulty level do you usually play? Nowadays, anything but the hardest level bores me to tears. I currently win about 25% of the time. My sisters are very disappointed in me.
This is amusing...
Ever since I started commuting by bike back in December, my old laptop has come out of retirement since I no longer drag my computer (an iMac G5) back from work nightly. I was browsing around to see what interesting stuff I had on the old laptop and came across a scan of my high school senior pic. I thought I had no pics just of myself in digitized form and on a hard drive (as opposed to a few photo CDs people have given me), but I guess that's not true.
So if you want to know what a head of Napa looks like in a tux, here you go. The picture was taken in Fall 1996, but I look essentially the same now, with a few white hairs (which would be retouched out of the picture anyway).
here's one for you all, I'm sitting in my apartment at the US Embassy compound in Kabul Afghanistan, staring at my '98 C'Dale R4000 on a 1UpUSA trainer. And dreaming of roads without suicide bombers or potholes from 500lb bombs.

Getting ready for work. It's a bit early (especially for Saturday), but I do need to make sure to be done by the time my parents arrive.

Yup, I'm Asian. Born in Taipei, Taiwan. Family moved to the US when I was four. (And little sister was two, and baby twin sisters were six months.) So I'm an MIT (made in Taiwan), but it doesn't really show.
With some people on this forum referring to me sometimes as jsc, JSC, JSChen, or simply Chen, now that you know my ethnicity, it shouldn't be too hard to guess my last name.

JS Chen? You couldn't figure out he was Asian from that?
Taking a bit longer than expected to get ready since I decided I'd take my carbon fiber road bike instead of my aluminum road bike (my commuter) today and repack my stuff so as to not carry a lock.
It's Saturday. My fun bike is begging to be ridden, and with my day ending before dark, I don't need lights. And with it being the weekend, I don't feel bad about just parking my bike inside my office (instead of at the bike rack). In fact, if I'm not finished more than 15 minutes before my parents get here (the amount of time I would need to ride home), I'll just lock the bike inside my office for the day and pick it up on Sunday.

His name has no capitals. It could have meant anything.
Honestly, I did think that at one time or another. But I also thought it could be J. Schen. It didn't matter to me really, because I just thought of him as Napa Cabbage. (But then again, Napa Cabbage is commonly used in Asian dishes! :p ) Hmmmmmmm.........

Stay low and stay safe. What's the update from Kabul?
Hey Texas, no Iraqis but plenty of Taliban near me. Nothing new here in Kabul other than nursing the Afghan Flu.
Update in Kabul? Hmmmm. The weather is great, if one could leave the compound to enjoy it, and if the air wasn't high in human poo content. Plenty of folks still want to blow us to smithereens, but we're persisting on nonetheless.

Yup. I'll repost that pic for those who missed it. It's from last summer, at a friend's wedding. And add in another one from the same occasion. No, the girl in the picture is not TSG. TSG is an MIT, like me.
