Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. A monster energy could help lol.
This ad brought to you by EJ123 - pusher of energy drinks. :D
I was tempted to buy a Tab energy drink yesterday but didn't. I liked Tab back when it was a normal diet soda.

I'm wasting time now that I have plenty of it. Job market here is so bad that its gonna take a while for me to find another decent job. Especially since my next job will have to co-exist with my college schedule begining in September.

Monster lasts me at least a good 2 hours. It's hard to describe its taste, but I know it has something to do with apples and pears, but its really carbonated so its not like drinking fruit juice lol.

They have to build somewhere though - lots of work for the construction company that wins that bid and will probably be taking on extra people.

I've helped build office buildings before. There maybe some metal stud framing I could do, but that would be it. Besides, whatever company is big enough to take that project on is big enough not to need to hire individuals. Smaller companies will be hired out, but its no safe bet for any construction jobs.

Thanks. FIL is of a certain generation so mostly I just take deep breaths and smile while he tells me how women are all competitive about housecleaning and cooking. He's still convinced that I'm with this program to answer the phones and make coffee.

Too true. It was a thought. My bro was in the construction business in southeast Michigan - he has since moved to Tennessee. He fell off a roof and broke both ankles so that factored in but also, the construction job market was just so uncertain here.

I've always been able to get a job within 3 days of loosing a job or quitting, but this time I don't know. There is one guy who screams at his workers like you're in Marine boot camp that will always give me a 15 dollar an hour construction job because he admires how hard I work and how well I can take **** off him. It less than half of what I was making, and I'd be doing it for about half the hours of the job I just left, but I have enough money saved to where it will work out if it has to. It beats moving back in with my parents.

It's nice to have options like that. I was on contract for this job (bike advocacy) and the contract ends on the 18th so I'm gonna be back out there looking as well. I'd love to stay in bike advocacy but there's a limited market on this side of the border so may just try to stick with health promotion in general. Helps that this program was a success.

Seems FIL has cranial rectal inversion.
I just ran some errands. Amazing how much crap you can stuff in a mess bag. I got a 12 pack of soda, a dozen ears of corn, bananas, a roast and some fruit and veggies and a bunch of flowers in there. Good thing the ride home wasn't too bad.

Client keeps moving the scope of the study we're doing for them. Which is okay, they're paying for it. But when they change things we have to move back our deadline. So they're not happy about that. My boss, who is the expert, is out of town and in meetings. Clients have a lot of questions which I can't answer since I'm still pretty new to the game. I should have handled it better and taken charge. Lots of ums and uhs on my part which only gave the a-hole on the other end of the line more fuel. What I should have done, and what I will do in the future if this happens again, is to just tell them that I am not the expert and am unqualified to give them the answers they want. I'm given my orders from on high and report results. If they want to talk to the expert, they're going to have to wait. In the mean time I'll be happy to take down any questions they have and relay them to said expert. Etc. Growing pains.
Only thing that's really bothering me is I might have messed up our relations with this client.

'splody, right from the start, just say you're there to take down the client's issues for further discussion w/ your boss. You'll try to answer what you can, but for the rest, you'll have to table it until you can discuss it w/ your boss.
I just finished eating a salad sandwich and fresh corn for lunch. Chopped lettuce, tomatoes, marinated artichokes, grilled red pepper, prosciutto, asiago cheese and lemon viniagrette dressing stuffed into pita pockets. Perfect for a summer's day.

Just tell him the magic phrase "I don't have that information offhand, but I will find out for you.", and then follow up when you do. Don't slack on it, but that will buy you much needed time.
Telling them you don't know will piss them off, and mess up customer relations. I have to deal with a problematic customer everyday, and this customer happens to be the majority of my company's revenue. Given I don't take any crap, but you have to be diplomatic about it.
Diplomacy is the fine art of being the icon of good manners with the customer while you want nothing more than to turn the person on the other end of the line into a life-sized voodoo doll. Really, just try to keep a cool head, and be quick of mind when things like this happen.
Free-form BS is sometimes a good tactic, but that's double black diamond stuff right there....one false move totals your credibility. I only use it when it's necessary to avoid a total customer relations disaster, such as the project manager failing to do his job....I'll say he's on it, and I'll do all the work under his name, make sure he is informed on the situation so he can keep the BS flowing in event the customer or another dept's employee reaches him, but make sure internally I get the credit, since that's where it's due. That's one of those "take one for the team" moments.

Per SBW's advise, while I was out buying oil and a filter, I got synthetic. It turns out it might not matter all that much, because while I was at the auto parts store, an old friend of mine who works there offered me a good condition fuel enjected 351 Windsor for 300 bucks. I'll probably be buying it and installing it in my crown victoria in the engine servicing and emissions class I'll be taking this fall. (don't know how yet)

They are two completly different motors. Kind of like the Mopar 318 'A' series small block motor and the pre 64(?) 318 'Y' block motor.
The 351 Cleveland is the HP motor, the Windsor is the grocery getter motor.

Depends on what you do to it stacey, but you knew that. Granted there won't be much there to begin with, but I worked with a guy who has a 351W in a T bird with 700 horse power, before nitrous that is. 351 Windsors have a decently large aftermarket, and surely they beat a 4.6
