Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Oh, I agree whole heartedly. My point was intended that the 351 C was the Hi-Po unit in the kick ass Mustangs. while the 351 W was usually in the Country Squire/Town & Country Wagons and a lot of p'ups
Y'all may or may not notice some posts have been deleted. To the ladies: he was getting a bit creepy.
As for me, it's about time for brekkie.
Nose got re-broken yesterday!!! Wooo Hooo! It will be straight again!!! Gotta big white splint on my face now. I'll be back to normal in no time :D
We know you're fond of posting photos. Gonna post a current one of you? :D
Hope you're feeling better.
I saw a dude do the 5 boro bike tour on a GMC Denali. Just sayin'.
C'mon jyo! You can do better than that! You should have pointed out people who did the 5 boro ride with BMX bikes! Nice & slow & LOTS of spinning! :)

I'm trying to get my son outta bed so we can go for a ride down by the beach. We haven't ridden together yet this year. :(
OK, well that sucked. As I was getting ready to loading the bikes on the van, I noticed that my rear tire had a broken spoke...AGAIN! 3rd time in a year!
Well off to the LBS, hopefully they can get it done today so we can at least ride tomorrow.
*Big Sigh*
Per SBW's advise, while I was out buying oil and a filter, I got synthetic. It turns out it might not matter all that much, because while I was at the auto parts store, an old friend of mine who works there offered me a good condition fuel enjected 351 Windsor for 300 bucks. I'll probably be buying it and installing it in my crown victoria in the engine servicing and emissions class I'll be taking this fall. (don't know how yet)
Don't know if anyone notices....but the price of motor oil gone WAY up!!!!
Just 2 years ago, I could still buy a quart of dino oil for $1.00. Last week when I decided to change the oil, a bottle of Castro GTX 5W-20 was $2.79!!!!! Man, the oil change cost me close to $20!!!! I used to be able to do it for under $10.
On the good side, synthetic prices didn't go up much! I think it's overkill, but I put Mobil1 in a GS.
Question for the car guys & gals here.......
I've been using synthetic for about 2 years now in the GS. Can I go back to dino? I remember reading (maybe a myth) something about it's ok going from dino to synthetic, but not ok the other way around.
I drive my CR-V more and I drive it pretty hard sometimes (lots of stop & go traffic), should I put synthetic in that or is it overkill?
When is synthetic needed? When an engine's compression ratio reaches certain levels? I know for a fact that if your car is FI, you should definitely have synthetic in there, but for anything naturally aspirated, do you think it's overkill & just a waste of your own hard earned money?

Hey, I was paying about $9 for a litre of oil in Australia, and close to $5/gallon for petrol. So don't complain about prices here.
As far as synthetic oil goes, it's good stuff if your engine doesn't have too much wear. You get to go about 3 times as long between oil changes, because it doesn't get contaminated as easily. I think that was the big selling point when it came out. It's probably more stable at high and low temps, and I think it has the ability to stick to metals better than dino juice. It will help an engine's moving parts last longer. If you want to know the one thing you can do every single day to protect your engine, it's simple. When you start your car, don't touch the gas pedal for at least 15-20 seconds on warm days, longer on cold days. The oil in your engine is all the bottom, in the oil pan. Give it time to circulate before you put any load on your engine. Those fools that try to warm their car up by revving the cold engine are just creating boat anchors by creating a lot of high stress metal to metal contact.
Something to think about.
Oh, there used to be a filter by Oberg - an external inline oil filter. My friend put one in his Honda Civic, and changed the oil regularly. It ran like a champ and used no extra oil at 300k. Go figure.

I do this ALL the time. In the summer (even in 98 degree heat), I still "warm up" the motor before my first drive of the day. I wait until the temp gauge needle begins to move before I touch the accelerator (which only takes about 30 seconds on a warm day).
In the winter, I warm up for about 3 - 5 minutes, or when I feel a little warm air from the vents or when I see the needle move a tad (whichever comes first) before I touch the gas pedal (again, first drive of the day only).

Hey all! Just got up from a nap. Road 40miles yesterday in the heat, and 36 miles today (the weather was awesome) with the club. Only 9 miles from the 2,000 mile mark for the year. I have laundry to do today....ugggh. I have to take it to the laundry room in the basement of my apt. complex. Considering buying a Trek "Soho" in the Fall. What a really unique looking bike. May start commuting to work when the weather is decent. Starting to plan for the Lancaster ride and getting excited about meeting all the BF members who will be there in a couple of weeks. Hope everyone is well.
BDG..glad to hear your ankle is doing better.

Get a transplant. Thanks to my grandpa and his genetics that what I'll probably end up doing.
Oh, I'm just bald because I shaved it. I still have hair for now, I just can't stand it to get longer than about 5-6mm. Drives me crazy! Definitely starting to thin at the front, but I've always had a fivehead anyway. Might have to do like catatonic and get a straight razor, for my head....
I'm waking up, thinkin' about eatin' breakfast and/or going back to bed. Long night...put about 100 miles on the Ducati.

Sunday mornings while everyone else is getting over last nights binge drinking, I typically watch Great Cars TV on PBS. I just turned the TV on and found out that it will be off for the next month so they can do 4 weeks of begathoning. :( And they think I'll pay them money for it :roflmao:
