Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I had to read that one four times before it registered. Seems the term would have a valid origin in the application ms.gio gave it.

Hmm... the boss sent around an email saying that he'll be meeting with us all individually over the next few weeks over lunch for some 'one on one' time. Wonder what this is about, and if I should be polishing my resume up.
things are nervous all over, huh? :( Never a bad idea to be on one's ties these days - but hope your situation is nothing serious.

Me? Oh, I'm thinking about my commute tomorrow. It's never easy to prepare for this. It's long as heck and tomorrow will be windy and cold in both direction (according to weather.com).
no more shrinkage for me! I got a fluid trainer :p
Fluid trainers are great. I  mine. What type did you get?

Well, I have one of the first meetings (tomorrow). This will either be good, or I will be going home after lunch never to return knowing my company. I think we're doing ok financially, so I'm really hoping this is just discussing bonuses, raises, and what's going on in the future. Really hope that's all it is.
And worst case scenario, I have enough industry contacts that I can find work again relatively easily though it probably won't be the sort of work I like. I pretty much have a standing offer of employment at a bank. So worst comes to worst, I make some changes and get a tasty lunch out of the deal.

I was nearing my apartment on the ride home today, when I see a man trying to push his pickup uphill into a gas station parking lot. Traffic was stopped and waiting for him, but he couldn't do it alone. I saw a woman in the front seat steering, and a baby in a kiddy seat. So I stopped, propped my bike against the curb, and helped him push it to a pump. It was no big deal, but I was disgusted that not a single other person even attempted to help. I saw the traffic stopped long before I ever got to the guy, so I know they had been waiting for some time yet still offering no help at all. Sadly, I wasn't even slightly surprised. The man was extremely grateful and nice.

Hey folks. I just made pumpkin pie and pumpkin soup. The soup turned out great, but I haven't tried the pie yet. First time for both! :)

I think that if folks are gonna whine about the cold they should post temperatures so that we might mock them for their wussitude.
Last Saturday we had 60 mph winds and snow... and a few of thought this was still okay weather for riding.

Yeah, I suppose so. But you know, this shouldn't even be a "wow good for you" type thing. Helping this guy should have just been the normal thing to do. I'd like to know when it became "normal" to just watch a helpess person struggling when helping would be practically no trouble at all. :notamused:

By the way, as we were pushing the truck, I heard what sounded like a freight truck's air horn a couple hundred feet away at the entrance to my apartment complex. Some redneck had one rigged up in his pickup, and he was honking at another person for turning into the apartment complex, presumably because it slowed him down for two seconds. Would you be surprised if I told you this was common practice in my town? :twitchy:

Good luck! Hopefully it's nothing major - in a worst case scenario, enjoy the lunch:D and focus on the big picture - you'll make it through whatever life throws at you.
Having said that, I think I'll go in early tomorrow (had a personal day today):o

I'm not really sure how to feel. Perhaps numb is the appropriate term.
My sister went in for a much delayed appointment today and found out that her cervical cancer is not stage 1 like everyone thought, but stage 3. She wrote and said she's starting chemo externally 5 days a week for 5 weeks, then internally for 2 weeks, then perhaps surgery. I feel like throwing up.
I immediately ran into the all too common blackburn problems, like the flywheel adjusting knob that loosens on its own.
poured a lot of loctite on the threads and tied a 20lbs dumbell to the knob so it won't loosen
that sucks wb, I hope she's dealing with it ok.
