Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Once I had a cat with nine toes (on one foot.)
So... the cat had nine toes growing on one of its feet, or it had nine toes and was standing on one foot, or you had a cat that had only nine toes while you were standing on one foot? Was the cat (or you) standing on its (your) own foot, or did the foot belong to someone (or something) else?
Now you're getting morbid. Do I actually have to buy and send you a cat 'o nine tails?
Ouch!! I may aspire to be a pirate one day, but I don't think I could bring myself to use one of those for anything other than an elaborate tree swing.

But you'll decapitate your neighbor and use his head as a weapon?

I'm wondering what happened to Windows. The taskbar and all the desktop icons just disappeared when I ended something that wasn't responding. Oh well.
Morning all. Glad to see the level of foofiness is back to it's usual lowbrow self. Eboo, I think 'splody's talking about being invaded by a large, rubber based thing. You know, like a plunger.

I can do a plunger. And for the record, I was never going to decapitate Mr. Neighbor. He's little, and very spry for a 90 year old.

I'm awake, caffeinated, and ready to rock....sadly the rest of the world is still walking around mumbling to itself about how it should not have had that extra bottle of Cuervo last night.
I need something to do things to...err.....FOR! yeah that's it...to..FOR!

No plungers, please. I'm still paying off the medical bill from last time...
I'm about to go postal in the library. Every now and again I have to work with this doctor with a larger sense of entitlement than a four-year old. Where is something sharp and pointy when you need it? I believe something was mentioned about a cat-o nine tails? Or a pirate horde?

Trust me...they're not nearly rusty, pointy, or nasty enough for this man.

Then the ideal tool of tard maiming would be a 3-ended flail. may not be sharp or pointy, but it makes up for that in sheer feedback. Anything that makes the recipient drop with an audible crunch, is more than nasty enough.

Pics from both of you! You can't post that you got new bikes and not post pics! Only I can do that!
Happy Friday, everyone. Still not in Foo much because the Tour de Sugar Shorts threads take up too much of my time on BikeForums. Stage 3 is this Sunday. You might recall that stage 1 was when Brandy organized a meeting of BikeForums and Team Estrogen.
Oh, and some pics/ride reports that I don't recall whether I've shared with my Foo family:

I'm working on it, jyo. Stage 1: clincher wheelset upgrade to Rolf Prima Elan Aeros. Already paid for, to take delivery Labor Day weekend. Stage 2: ZeroGravity brakes, lighter seatpost, lighter stem and bars. Timeframe TBD. Probably sometime in the future when I meet some big climbing goal. Stage 3: Sometime way down the line, upgrade drivetrain to newest, best Campy Record/Shimano DuraAce/SRAM Force setup. Stage 4: Special occasion climbing tubulars.

I'm not really excited about going out. It's been a long week and I'm pretty tired. But a friend is in town so I'm going to make her buy me a drink.

There's a very obvious joke floating around in that statement and I'm too brain-drained to come up with it. I feel shame.

oooohhh...zero gravity brakes are hawt. the sram force gruppo's supposed to be lighter than dura ace and record isn't it?

I'm checking e-mail. Last weekend when I was in Tennessee one of SILs cousins and I were talking bike advocacy and he invited me to go mtb with him when I returned. I am entertaining that thought but not sure at this point for a number of reasons. Thoughts? What do I need to know if I decide to do this?

You should have a mtb for one. Wear a helmet and carry bear spray. Can be used on humans too, just make sure you're upwind. And flow like water.

I have a helmet and he says that he has a mtb that I can use - not sure what a great idea that is. Bear spray is mace, correct? I think it's illegal here but I can pick some up across the border.

Actually, I think bear spray might be legal in Canada. They got bears there too so I don't see why it wouldn't be. If you're riding a bike you've never ridden before, stick to the fire roads and beginner trails.

If I go I'll definitely stick to the beginner trails. I've seen the injury pictures here. I don't mind battering and bruises but death may be a little far for a thrill. :D Skydiving was also suggested as this part of Tennessee is famous for it. I might do that instead. Floating through the air strapped to a man or barrelling down trails. Hmmmmmmmm.

Yeah, supposedly. But there's also the issue of shifter feel. And of stiffness of the drivetrain. (For example, DuraAce may be the heaviest right now, but it also has the stiffest cranks. Probably enough of a difference to largely compensate for the slight increase in weight.) I really need to go try all three gruppos (Record, Force, DuraAce) when their next gen all comes out too see what I really like. I seriously thought about going full Record on the R3, but I really like the Shimano STI shifters. But I imagine I could get used to Campy. Not as convinced about SRAM, though... I imagine in the heat of the moment on a steep climb, I may have trouble only tapping part-way and not all the way.
