Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Back from 53+ mile backpacking trip last Monday-Friday with the Scouts. I no longer smell like a stale donkey, but my feet have a little more recovering to do. My son took the camera, and took almost no pictures. :(
Where'd ya go? Ever get up to the Adirondacks here in NY?
I'm about halfway through the 46 high peaks myself.
Exciting exciting exciting!!!!!! good luck! I just Love those kind of race
I should be more specific - I'm doing the bike leg on a team, not the whole thing myself. I don't think I have enough time to dedicate to being a good swimmer. This winter I'll probably start running (treadmill in the gym at work) while the bike is up, so maybe next year I'll do a duathlon if I can find one around here.

When it starts getting darker earlier and my after-work running time is being cut short, I think I'm gonna get a membership at the local YWCA. They have an indoor pool. I'd like to be able to do a small triathlon by spring.

Wow Zorro! I want to get into backpacking like that! I know it will be a while before I can go 53 miles, but I want to start off small. No scouts though, you can keep them. ;)
They were all 14 or older (we don't believe in killing the young ones off ;) ), and very well behaved. At any rate, we tromped through field after field of ripe, wild, blueberries (yum) - which slowed our progress considerably. :)

If you ever want to make your trips a little more memorable and exciting by having a crazed axe-murderer chasing your group, picking the weaker kids off one-by-one, then I'm available for a very reasonable rate.

Many moons ago, I was a student at SUNY Potsdam - I've been to the Adirondacks, but I'm not a peak-bagger. Doing that kind of implies that I have to walk down afterwards - which has been the bane of my feet.
We hiked a trail in northern Pennsylvania, called The Quehanna. Here's the link from the State: http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/hiking/quehanna.aspx
another link with pictures from someone else who went there in fall: http://www.patc.net/hiking/destinations/quehanna.html

I'm doing a little local sprint distance - 800m swim, 14 mile bike, 5k run. My swimmer is very proficient and will probably be one of the fastest in the water. I'll probably be right in the middle on the bike leg, and our runner will probably be a bit on the slow side - so overall, we'll probably be right in the middle of the pack.
If someone had told me a few years ago that I would be competitively biking and even *finishing* an event, I woulda laughed!

I bet there were enough to keep you, and your celebrity BF reasonably happy. ;) We came across some blackberries too, but they were very small, and quite sporadic.
I just finished giveng my little guy Logan an enema.
He was born with congenital megacolon, daily doses of laxative have kept him regular... untill now. I'm afraid if he dosen't poop soon we're going to have to put him down.

More than happy, we were ecstatic! There was literally hundreds of thousands of acres of them! We only saw maybe 1% of them along the road.

Sad to hear from your BLOG that the days of clear-cutting are still with us in the northwest. We went to Oregon once, and were alternately taken aback by the beauty, and the devastation that was so thinly disguised by a single line of trees along road frontages. I felt the land had been supremely violated (this back in 1991).
My Ethernet connection at work just got upgraded to 100 Mbit/s from 10 Mb/s. Not that that makes any difference for how quickly I can surf the web or check e-mail. Which is what I plan to do to kill a bit of time before instrument time in 25 minutes.
PFGS just sent me an e-mail. I hadn't thought much about her recently with all the banter in the roadie forum about SoCal rides. (Sunday's ride was great, by the way. Ride reports and pics here (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=217226&page=23&pp=20) starting at post #444.) She's still trying to get to San Diego, but having a hard time doing so because of difficulties getting a job. :(

Very sad. It was bad in Oregon, but HORRIBLE in Washington. At least where we went. We must have passed a dozen logging trucks in just that one day. :(

I got a call from my brother this afternoon that he was replacing the floor and tiles in the kitchen at my parents house, and that he was in over his head. I've been working on that sense then, and we porobably won't be done until wednesday. Right now I'm about to go send Joe money for my new red star.

Living in Kali it seems likely you've never eaten at white castle. If you haven't, go for it if you ever get the chance. Eat a sack of 10 and you'll be amazed what it will do to your digestive system.

Unngggg... unmotivated. apartment is a mess. didn't get to go running tonight. but my new bike arrives on Wednesday. Then I'll figure out what tools I need to order to get it all together. Hopefully it'll be up and running sometime toward the end of next week.

Now I'm drinking chai, listening to music, trying not to notice my neighbor gettin' it ooooooon in his living room upstairs.
And re: Krystals... I have it on pretty good authority that both Krystals and White Castle import their "food" from the same circle of hell.
I have community service tomorrow. 2 hours. I wana sleep in=(.

I was riding my bike on my route and was taking a breather in the park. There is a sign that instructs dog owners to help keep the park clean and to clean up after their animals. After a few minutes, a dog-owner came by with two dogs and they promptly went over the the sign and rose their hind legs (the dogs not the owner) and gave the sign a good spraying. :D
