Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Dang. What am I going to do with 5 Araya RM-20 36 hole rims? Brand spankin' new but the news paper that was wrapped around them was from 1993!

Enjoying a Chipotle Burrito Bol. Extra rice, extra beans, extra corn, extra sour cream, extra cheese, extra lettuce. Yup. I'm gonna have a heart attack.

This afternoon I went browsing antique stores with my parents, THIS (http://www.cuzsantiques.com/) one, in particular. It's quite a bizarre place, filled with things that appear to be oddities from around the world. I got two beautiful pocket knives, a little bowl, and a nice old hand drill. The 80s kid in me wanted to purchase a butterfly knife or switchblade, but I refrained.

Maybe I'll start that knife thread....if I can wake up enough to find photos that i am presently not even awake enough to know if they even exist or not
And I'm still hungry....:notamused:

I think they're mostly a local/southeast thing, but apparently they are indeed German-made. I can say one thing: These appear to be more nicely constructed than some of my other German knives. I almost wish I had purchased a third, plain one to actually use.
They also had some old Mother-of-pearl handle Bokers, but I couldn't justify spending the money on one. Plus they were a little rough for the price.

I'm no expert but I think Boker are going downhill a bit. I bought several in the 90s and the fit & finish were meh......I had first bought an old 60s one-armed jack at an estate sale and I have to say it was the best-made knife I've ever owned, better than handmade customs. You could hold that knife up to the light when opened and no light would show through the backsprings. And this was a low-priced model with composition handles! I shoulda kept that one but it was too tiny in my hand. I had it a long time - actually sent it to Boker once and they cleaned and sharpened it for me:)

Yes, I've heard that about most of the German brands, unfortunately. My dad has a Kissing Crane from the 70s, and it seems to be superior in every detail when compared to my two newer ones, one from the early 90s and one even more recent. My 1992 Buck Creek seems to be very stout, and so do the two Henckels I own. The Hen & Roosters I own, while pretty, do not appear to be quite as well made. I've heard that at one time they were extremely solid knives. These Fightin' Rooster knives seem to be comparable to my Henckels, which is a good thing.

This post is useless without details.
Just letting tea digest before I head out to do some late night shopping.
Had a very pleasant day on the social ride and cycle gathering. I got to drool over my friends collection which includes such nice bikes as a Hetchins, a Pederson, a couple of Bianchi, some recumbents, choppers, and other assorted nice bikes. I gave him a set of bar-end shifters for his Bridgestone XO-1 in exchange for a rim that he gave me.
I got to try a long wheel base fully suspended recumbent that another friend has made and a Bianchi with a kiddy trailer attached.:D
I got possibly a little sunburnt and tomorrow it's friends 21st where the plan is to go to the beach. Ahh Summer. If only they made a sunscreen that tasted nice.

Okay then. That was a very nice dream. IF ONLY I COULD HAVE GOTTEN TO THE END!!!!. Here I was, all excited that I was going to go parachuting as part of a training course, only to make up to my little brat of a brother thundering up and down the stairs (my room is right next to the stairs). ggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I was almost on the airplane too.

I think today will be a good day to do some garage stuff. Maybe check on the problem with my ABS on the truck, and strip and clean one or more bikes. The motorcycles need winterizing too..

hi Foos... hope you all had a good turkey day. I am still alive... just enjoying my time with mr. wedding guy. :D
Wednesday we cruised downtown. Thursday chilled out and stuffed ourselves silly
yesterday we made it out to ABasin- 3" new snow overnight, and it kept falling all day. SWEET.
Today we were going to go climbing/hiking in boulder and the falls, but its a little chilly today, so I think we will be off to the Denver Art Museum.

It sure beats living upstairs....but yeah. Our basement is finished, so it's really comfy. My room stays nice and cool during the summer (even when we don't have the AC on) and gets even colder in the winter. I love it.
