Stephenville sp? My father was stationed at the AFB. I was talking to my mom about this and she said the last year we were there we had 292 inches of snow and none of it melted until spring. Then she shivered and wanderded of mumbling:lol:
Stephenville's a nice place. Not far from here actually.
 NL is not the place if you dislike snow.

If evil is measured by talent, then the Eagles are the lesser, not the Giants :)
Lunch is at 12:30. Gotta get going now, or I'll be late. Have a great afternoon, Foo!

OK. not liking this cold windy snowy stuff. Everything was frozen on my tractor. The throttle froze open, front wheels froze in place. All the linkages on the hitch were frozen.
After a lot of colorful language (that I didn't really care if the neighbors heard) I got it all working again and got the tractor into the garage.
Time to completion = 250% of estimated time. It's not even officially winter yet and I want winter over.

Sisters are always fun to shop for. :) Do you have any idea what you are getting for her?
I'm going through my files. I've already shredded three buckets full. :) Makes for good compost. Or New Years confetti.

Cinnamon is yummy. :D
I could do that. We actually have a gift for her already, but its kind of a hammy down. A really nice hammy down, but still used. I want to give her a cute sweater to wrap up the lens in.

Wow, you're motivated! I should probably do some shredding myself. Do you have a compost heap?
I want to buy her some kind of a hoodie or sweater. Joe is giving her one of his old lenses and I think I'm going to wrap it up in the sweater.

Ooo be careful she doesn't shake out the sweater and the lens goes rolling! But that would be a fun surprise to find a nice lens in there, huh? That's cool!!
I've had a compost bin for many many years now. Since I bought this house it's one of the first things I did. I only fill my garbage can less than half full for the week! With all of the composting and recycling I do, all the neighbors catch on and sometimes if I forget to throw something out last minute on garbage day, I'll find the garbage can full because of "donations" from the others in the court. :(
I could do that. We actually have a gift for her already, but its kind of a hammy down. A really nice hammy down, but still used. I want to give her a cute sweater to wrap up the lens in.Yikes, I can see the box being opened, muttering of "oooh!" seeing that it's a sweater, reaching in, and pulling the sweater out in such a fashion that it flips open to be more easily visible, and thus sending the previously hidden lens flying across the room. http://www.bikeforums.net/mysmiliesvb/mysmilie_15.gif
Maybe put the lens at the bottom, and just cover it with the sweater. :)
Shadiyah
12-07-08, 03:03 PM
Good point, guys. LOL Yeah, I think your solution, X is the best one. We'll just cover the lens with the sweater. :)
I'm very impressed with your compost, Siu. I'd have a bin, but right now, I have no where to put any compost. Which is frustrating sometimes, because I usually end up with quite a lot of organic, biodegradable matter. Doesn't it feel good to not have to throw so much away?
Siu Blue Wind
12-07-08, 03:07 PM
Shadiyah you can start a small bin and always put the compost in your potted plants. They too can benefit from all the nutrients! I started with a tiny little bucket that moved to a larger bucket that turned into the proper bin.
One time I spread the compost over my lawn just to give it some "vitamins". Later I noticed a nice plant starting to sprout. I didn't want to pull it out because I wasn't sure what it was. Then a saw other neat baby sprigs. Next thing you know, that summer I had yellow pear tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, bell pepper yellow crook neck squash, chili pepper, and WATERMELON all growing out of my front LAWN.
Boy did everyone laugh at me....
Shadiyah
12-07-08, 03:12 PM
That's awesome! I would love to have a front yard filled with all those plants!
Maybe I could start one, but I think by the time it is all ready to go into pots, then it would be time for us to move.

Well actually, we haven't even started it. We're going to build it when we move down there and we're moving in April.
Oh yes, we'll have a fabulous compost bin there!

12-07-08, 03:20 PM
But where are you going to stay while it's being built?
What are you going to do with the loft?
Shadiyah
12-07-08, 03:26 PM
We'll stay in a rental house in the closest town, its not very expensive. Plus, it will be a good way to integrate into the community! We were thinking about selling the loft, but with the housing market right now, we'll probably just rent it out until/if the market picks up again.

Yes, that is a wonderful way to get into the community there! Plus it would be good to be able to check up on the construction.
Right now it seems like it would be good to rent it out. Just be sure to do a thorough check on the people. I've been really lucky so far in all the times I rented. I only had one bad renter that I had to ask to leave but that's because he broke the house rules and let another person live there, infringing upon the rights of the others and using up the water/power/etc...

Agreed. I'm not really sure how we're going to handle everything when we're ready to move on. I'll guess we'll see how it at works out when the time comes.

Just finished getting today's culinary concoction on the stove - bolognese sauce.
I had a nice ride today, 61 miles. My legs are fine but I get knots in my shoulders and upper back when I ride long sometimes.
Hey Grumpy, what are some good yoga stretches I can do to get rid of the tension across my shoulders? I've tried eagle pose and that works some, but not very well.
I hear that a nice massage can help remove the back/shoulder soreness. ;)

I recommend downward dog to simulate inversion therapy, and shoulder stand and plow pose to stretch the spine.

If you dismount and then do a quick toe-touch, focusing on breathing out and letting the spine go loose, it might help.
