Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Especially when you ride right into big patches of sand on steep uphill sections. Happened to me on Sat. night. Bring a light this time Siu!
I need a light. I crash enough when I can see where I'm going!:p
Is that a boulder? DOH!:D
Sounds like you have a fairly positive outlook, Cycle. Keep your chin up!
Though Friday is my last day at work I'm doing some extra credit stuff - just kind of the "wouldn't it be nice to have...." things that came up in our final meeting today - which, of course, means I must multi-task. I'll be able to relax after this by unpacking my boxes for my mom in Tennessee......oh.....wait.......that sounds like more work. *sigh*
Just felt like sharing an adorable smiley.

My dad retired on the 1st after working for GM for 41 years. The only reason they're waiting as long as they have to move is so that I can help them. They have an apartment near my bro and SIL. I'm gonna go down and help them get settled and then when I come back up entertain the few program director bites I've gotten. I got a call today about another program director position. They want to talk to me and aren't put off by doing it early September. I would like to stay in bike advocacy if possible but with a little Canadian about to start school, I'll have to shop jobs near the border. Not much over here in that realm that isn't volunteer.
So nothing solid and that's a little unnerving but enough bites to make going back to work almost as soon as I get back a strong possibility.
To answer your post in the "something about the person above you" thread - I am a more often than not commuter right now. I can't do it everyday and I do the park and ride but it's been going well.

Spare tube, a small pump and a minimal tool kit, and you'll never have to walk your bike again. :)

I carry my small backpack with me just for that stuff (it's also the perfect size for a 12 pack). I always thought it was a pain in the ass until I was at the halfway point of my 10 mile ride home...

Ahh, yes, coffee, the relaxative. I'm trying to wake up and get some energy up as I've availed myself to the child care team at the office today to help them with the toddlers. I do this at least once a week to keep myself young and remember to keep life simple. I'm also working on some harmonica jams--to entertain them.

Minimaly, I carry 2 tubes, a pump, an Alien, 2 knives including a leatherman, vice grips, a lock, 100 ounces of water, 32 ounces of gatorade, a poncho, a bic lighter, and at least 1,000 calories worth of food. Granted my backpack weighs 20+ pounds, but what else could I need?

Welll uh yeah, Stacey. This is the guy who uses only 6 mins per month on his Cingular (that gets FREE Cingular to Cingular minutes). Talk about cheap! He still owes me two cups of coffee!! ;)

If you have Cingular, you need to start calling your sisters more often. And your brother. But he has another network.

I don't carry a phone on rides. Why would I want anybody yaking away at me while I'm riding? If I **** up badly enough to need to call someone up and get help, I figure I deserve to have to go find a payphone.

Not ragging on you, but I've never understood the "I don't want to be in constant contact" argument against cellphones.
Unless I'm expecting a call, my phone remains on silent. I answer maybe 1 out of every 10 calls I get. I make very good use of my voicemail. I'm not even remotely in constant contact, yet my phone pretty much goes everywhere I do.

I never activated my voicemail. To be honest, the only reason I even got a phone is that I was lost in Ann Arbor, and I got help from a gas station cashier who was smoking a doobie. (Pot was a 5 dollar fine in Ann Arbor back then). I decided that would be the last time I had to get directions.

weren't u carrying a hipster approved messenger bag filled w/ pbr? :p just stick a seatbag under the saddle w/ a spare tube, patchkit w/ levers and a 15 mm wrench and stick a mini-pump in your backpocket or on the supplied mount that screws into the water bottle braze-ons. u'll be all set.

My main phone I went over the minutes and had a very large bill. The other phone was sent to me by Boogs because he added me to his plan so I won't do it again. Then I forgot about the work phone. That one I try not to answer. I'm too busy at work.

I'm bummed...doctor's appt today, so I was gonna stay home and go for a ride with my son. His legs "hurt", so I'm sitting here at work. Gonna drag his lazy butt outta bed Saturday morning...we haven't ridden together all summer.
My work phone is my only cell phone (Nextel)...if they're gonna pay for my minutes why would I carry two? They finally got around to giving me a new phone...the old was was only 4 years old.

Did you strip off all the decals to make it super shiney?
Shadiyah

I'd say do a search, but that's been disabled so use a razor and be careful not to scratch it up. After you remove the decals, get some polish and give it a nice shine.
[e] ooohhh...your decals are clearcoated. check this thread:
