Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just found out that there won't be any work today. Construction is painfuly slow in January and February. So, I just called my dad. He will be comming by soon, then we are going crow hunting.
Cleaning up the coffee that I just spilled on my keyboard and hoping to heck it all still works....also trying to figure out how to get the F1 key back on. *sigh*

Sitting in my office strategizing/casting vision for the month and planning for my division's meeting on Wednesday. In between I read forum posts.

Most keyboards juset let you push it bakc in. Just make sure its in the right spot. Alot of keyboards have a different shape for the Escape key which is right next to the f1 key

Checking on an arbitration and getting ready to do some work after visiting the bank.
Laundry, hoping it gets done before I have to go into work. Recovering from a crazy drunken StuporBowl weekend...
It's 74 degrees outside, with an expected high of 80. I'm shivering inside trying to work on a presentation for Wednesday. My office was at 58 degrees earlier today, but happily, it's warmed up to 60 degrees now.
As noted in another thread on Saturday, our boiler evidently is down. And our AC is always on in order to control humidity.

sitting at work eating my sandwich and fruit salad. Only 4 hours and 15 minutes to go until i can go home
I just got out of my boring World Cultures lecture. I have an hour before my Calc class and I still need to do some homework problems. I'd rather procrastinate some more by surfing BF!
I wish I had commuted by bike today. (I didn't since Monday's my day off the bike to recover from Sunday, my one long-ride day.) If I had done so, I'd have arm warmers, long-fingered gloves, and a light jacket with me. As it is, I just have a light jacket. My fingers are getting cold even though I usually have pretty good circulation to my hands.

58 degrees?? That sucks. You need a job where you can get outside, or at least get off your ass and be active.
Well, it's normally not an issue. It's normally 72 degrees all the time. I looked into it some more, and evidently, they took down the heat to inspect the heating system. It should be back on by the end of the day, so hopefully, tomorrow, we're back to a steady 72 degrees.

Ah, so normally it's safe to sit on your ass on BF. Well, roll on the heat. A nice 72 degrees sounds pleasant, but I'd still rather be outside, doing the Bear.

Man, I would love to sit in on a class like World Cultures. Of course, as a student of Applied Linguistics, cultural anthropology is one of my favorite subjects.

I have a bunch of bike stores to visit today so am plotting a route.
No real damage seems to have been done from yesterdays coffee spill. I got the F1 key back on but one corner is still flopping up. Not a big deal.

Sucks. This is the first time since I started working with computers that this has happened. Fortunately, most of the keys that seemed sticky are working.
Sorry about your annoying keyboard. Nice to see you back! :D

I'm surfing BF instead of working. Wishing some I'd get some calls back on jobs I've applied for.
This job's heading downhill fast. My boss asked me yesterday if I'd noticed that one of the other guys (on my team) was working an awful lot of short days. Sorry, but when you start worrying about the hours that your salaried employees are keeping, it means that A) you aren't keeping people busy and/or interested and B) you're paying more attention to minutia (like people's hours) than the important stuff (like is the project getting done).

Heh, maybe that is why you still have a job :p. Cause I'd be pretty damn blunt and say, well let's look at his progress and the progress of (whatever team or project he is on and see whether it's lagging, ontime or ahead of schedule) :p Where are you working/what are you doing right now ?
really honestly looking at getting a certain MTB on craigslist. Probably going to see it this weekend! :D :D :D

Ha! The bike that I thought Fed Ex was going to deliver on Saturday (a too good to be true scenario brought on by a software glitch on their tracking site), arrived today. Really sweet Miyaya 210 (215 would have made more sense). Now I can start to have delusions of double centuries. :D This will preoccupy me for the rest of the night. Well, that and calculating gear ratios for a compact 6.
p.s. - thanks to the BF member who gave me a good deal on it. :)

The good: Got my Niterider Blowtorch HID today.....holy ^%&* is that thing bright!
The bad: I need to get to sleep
The Ugly: I screwed my back up badly yesterday.
The Silver Lining: I'll probably call out of work tomorrow and get drunk all day...hey it beats working! :D
I'm home early tonight. There was a fire alarm in the lab at about 6:30 PM. I'm near my desk, so I grab my CamelBak, wallet, keys, and I see smoke billowing from the nearby room. Get out, gather with the lab, and try to figure out what happened. Turns out there was a minor incident that was taken care of with a fire extinguisher, and everyone was okay. Great. (By definition, in research, not everything is well controlled. Accidents happen. As long as no one's hurt, things like fires are no big deal.) But with the smoke still there and the fire extinguisher powder needing to be cleaned up, we weren't allowed in, pending a chance for the safety crew to take a look. With those people already home, it would take one to two hours to wait for them to give the okay to get back to work. With a minimal amount of work left to do, I decide to go home (grabbing a bite to eat along the way) rather than wait.
Man, I miss my cycling shoes. I feel like a klutz trying to cycle in tennis shoes on my SPD pedals. Keep trying to pedal in circles and slipping off the pedals. Perhaps a dozen times in a mere three miles. Very afraid of standing up and hammering over hills (for fear of slipping off the pedals and having my groin get too acquainted with the top tube), so sitting and slowly inching up the hills instead, being unable to pedal very efficiently. I guess a fun ride tomorrow before breakfast is out of the question. I might just drive in, too, to avoid having to go up the big hill (okay, not that big, but big without my cycling shoes) on the way to work. I'm currently leaning toward going ahead and riding, and just taking advantage of the granny ring. We'll see.

Why don't you have your cycling shoes?
I had a poptart and now I'm trying to sit down to write some code that will parse code into a DOM for me. soo much fun and so unmotivated.
Why don't you have your cycling shoes?
They're at work. (I change into sneakers at work.) Didn't think of grabbing them while smoke billowed into our section of the lab. :o Afterward, didn't want to wait an hour or two to go back in and get them, and I had everything else I needed to get home. I decided I'll just take a day off from cycling and drive today. A friend of mine calling last night really needing to talk (until 2:30 AM) really helped make up my mind.
