Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Woohoo it's here! If I don't post back in a little while, it's because I can't get my computer workin'. Wish me luck.

Ok I can tell this is going to be a horrific day. My brother is hogging the shower and I have to leave in 10 minutes so I go into the other bathroom just to wash my hair with the hand sprayer. I lean over the tub and wash my hair with all my clothes on. I then proceed to wash my face(I can't find any face wash) and I accidently drop the hand washer. It's spraying on high and literally soaks me, I can't reach it, and its just literally soaking the crap outta me. So now I look like a wet puppy, and I'm majorly pissed. I freakin had to wash my face with hand soap cuz my face wash is in the other bathroom. EFFING EFF
Now I get to go get my teeth drilled at the dentist.
Pheard, can you laugh about this now (not the teeth drilling part)?
Pheard, can you laugh about this now (not the teeth drilling part)?
Yes actually. I can laugh at my horribly bad luck. If it had been someone else I would have laughed hysterically at the time. Here's me with 5 minutes to go, my shirts off and im washing my face while hanging over the tub. I drop the thing and its shooting 6 feet in the air. The closer I get to grabbing it the more wet I get. While I'm spitting water outta my mouth and squinting my eyes I finally grab it. At the end I look like a wet dog :(

I know I can.

Gotta repack the bearings in this old three speed Austrian hub....slowest bike ever. The handlebars keep slipping in the stem, so the shim only partially worked. So no riding long distances on this bike, hence I will not be able to train for the 24 Hours Race with it tonight. :(
Gonna have to take the Raleigh "Dutch Station Wagon" bike to the group ride then.:) Why am I feeling a wicked sense of delight anticipating the look I'll get from the Litespeed roadies when I show up on an old upright with a wicker basket on the bars???:D :D :D Can't wait to see their faces. Gonna wear me breeches, too.:p

Don't tell my doc, but I went for a mountain bike ride last night  . My boss, another coworker, and I all donned our lights as the sun descended and went to go rip up some singletrack. I felt really strong (except for pulling up to get over obstacles) and rode for a couple of hours. The weight loss since the accident made me faster, I think! I might be able to squeeze out a 30mph pull there BDG. We'll see ;)

I kicked butt on the Wed. Night Ride. Managed to spill half the goods in my front basket, coffee, cookies, and my napkin. Dropped everyone for two stages, then dropped my saddlebags in some rough pavement. Had to go back and retrieve, so I get dropped. But I hung in there on those hills. (Hills Alley Cat coming up before the 24 Hours Race, so we did both routes).
Surprised the hell out of everyone, including myself. I kept hearing Ritehsdad telling me to kick ass, so I did.
The best part was wainting for the peloton to catch up, and hearing a girl say that it was cool how the guy with the oldest bike was the fastest.:)

I love this world and their nonchalantness attitude with everything.
My whole life is on a computer. It's what I've spent nearly 10 years working to build my career. It should come as no surprise then that to me operating system reliablity and functionality along with software and hardware is a big concern to me. So a few months ago, about a 1/2 a month before the big shakeup that ended up seeing my life doing a complete 180 degree turn I bought a new laptop. It wasn't the expensive laptop that I wanted but it was a decent laptop and after 2 months I had started using it for most of my important stuff.
The laptop had a slew of problems since theday I took it out and rhad to return it because it didn'thave the amount ofmemory advertised. Lately the SMART hard drive began giving errors and it explained why i could never play multi-media smoothly on the computer. The hard drive was dieing on a not even 3 month old laptop. I had put off taking it in for a few weeks but it has finally gotten the best of me since now my house is nearly 5 times bigger then my prior apartment.
So I go in to Fry's, and wait 2 hours to get it returned and end up having to go from one end of the store to the next. They give me a loaner because it's going to take 1-10 weeks to replace the hard drive. They rung up the wrong loaner and so as i'm leaving this very beautiful lady stops me and redirects me back and we spend another 15-20 minutes trying to get the right loaner laptop rung up.
I get home and I decide to go cycling because after wasting 3+ hours trying to get a laptop fixed that should never have had any problems was frustrating to say the least. Came back and started the process of uninstalling all the hp bloatware that they insist on putting it. 20 programs to let a mouse pointer work, or audio to work, etc. I am setting up the network id and i suddenly remember i dont know my wpa key and so I unplug the laptop to take it up stairs.
AT that moment the laptop flashes a "critical battery tooltip" and then shuts itself off.
After some investigating, it becomes apparent that the reason the loaner had been returned was because the battery does not charge. SO now i have to drive 30 miles and wait in line again for god knows how long for them to give me a new loaner to replace the loaner to replace the laptop taht should never have to be take a month to pop out a hard drive that should never be dieing at 2 months old.
As you can see i'm very very frustrated.

Damn -- I really *could* do this if I could find the cash ... could you provide a bike? Not sure my basic Dahon would be able to keep up with proper roadies.

Bummed because my ride got cut short today. The loud noise I heard near the end of Tuesday's ride evidently was some semi-critical piece of my rear derailleur. All chain tension disappears if I let up pedaling at all. :o At least it shouldn't cost much to buy a replacement, and I have a couple spares on hand that might work ok in the interim.

I'm at home eating lunch. It's a salad comprised of mostly greens with a lot of nuts. Slim pickings today.
