Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

JSC: The American Foci were undersprung for comfort compared to their European counterparts. An SVT suspension would've given you firmer, sportier handling. Also, the flywheel was pretty heavy to keep the engine spinning in bet. gear shifts which is why it wasn't "zingy". And of course, it's only a 2L 4-cyl...
edit: What's up w/ all these hotties wanting to hang out w/ you? Maybe we should start calling you "Playa"!
Karldar: Go down to the bike shop w/ a cordless drill and drill holes in random things until they produce your bike.
Good morning all. About to eat breakfast.

I assure you, this is not the norm. And to be a "playa", I would have to take advantage of the situation more.

 Sounds like an effective, proactive plan. :p
Karldar, hope your arachnohickey is healing nicely. And hope you get your bike today. :)

To get us back on topic, my weekend...
Went to parents' place Friday night. Picked up car on Saturday morning. The general manager is my dad's patient, as is the salesperson's immediate boss. As is the guy who transferred over to head up the Mini division of the dealership. Was going to spend some time at the country club with my dad, but with the driving range closed due to excess moisture and no practice for way too long, I ended up bumming around with my mom instead for the afternoon. Went to a good friend's piano recital that evening. Piano recital girl (PRG) is almost done with a master's degree in performance piano at USC. And she's someone who all the guys tend to notice.
Slept in this morning. Went to the country club for lunch with my parents, then hit balls at the driving range with my dad for a while. PRG calls up saying she's bored and feels like visiting, and my dad had to get back to work anyway, so I hang out with PRG. (Who drives today when hanging out? That's an easy one! Though PRG's sister's 325i--that PRG was borrowing--is pretty nice.) We hang out around the Claremont Colleges and the Claremont village (a quaint "downtown" area of my parents' small city) for a few hours. PRG wants to watch a movie, so we go to the movie theater, but there's nothing starting soon. So we just bum around and talk a bit more. I eat dinner with my parents and head back to SD. Catch up with Puerto Rican Friend (PRF), the girl in my pictures I posted earlier, by phone on the way down. She's been working 120 hour weeks recently. (1st year lawyer in a big corporate law firm in Manhattan) It's the first time I've managed to reach her in three weeks. And she was still at work at midnight her time. (I realized afterward I probably shouldn't have mentioned hanging out with PRG when PRF asked what I was up to all weekend. Though we're not together, PRF doesn't like hearing about any other girls, especially if they happen to be Asian. Oh well.) Caught up with one of my sisters by phone after getting back.
(Man, I seem so shallow in this thread. I assure you, there's more to my life than cars and girls. Okay, no more commenting on all my female friends. Bad Jason.) :(
You're jus making up for those of us without girls and without cars or without good cars.
Some how a new streak got put on the side of my 99 malibu :(

You got the 4x4, or whatever it's called, didn't you?
Double double (a double cheeseburger) "animal style" (with minced and grilled onions), fries "well done" (extra crispy), Coke. And on the way, a chance to take the scenic route there and for my coworkers to get a ride.

I'm digesting a cheeseburger and wondering whether I should eat pecan pie w/ vanilla ice cream. I think I earned it. I commuted to work and back, then took the new pedals I bought today (platform on one side and SPDs on the other) and put them on my mtb commuter. I took the mtb pedals (SPDs on both sides) and put them on the fixie. I took the track pedals w/ clips and straps off the fixie and put them in the extra parts tote. Then I took the fixie out for a ride to test out the pedals (yeah right, let's face it, that thing's a fun ride), forgot I couldn't coast w/in the first block, then didn't forget again for the rest of the ride. I keep backpedaling to slow down/stop and haven't used the brakes yet. I probably should to see if they work. Then I felt hungry, but didn't have my chain to lock up the bike so I went home, grabbed my mtb and took that to BBQ to get a cheeseburger and also test out the new pedals. I forgot that I could coast and that backpedaling will not slow me down/stop and that I have to use the brakes. Riding both bikes back-to-back was weird. It was like having to re-learn how to ride each w/in the first few blocks.

...just sitting here ruminating on the relative merits of a stinky foot fetishist stalker versus a hygenic foot fetishist stalker.
Is a stalker's personal hygene important? I guess maybe it is....
I'm happy to report all of MY stalkers have been very well groomed.

Sorry, a college suite-mate of mine was in town, so I was having dinner with him and catching up with him. You should have posted your question anyway. I could be explaining right now.
EDIT: Perhaps start a thread next time. Even if I don't get around to it right away, someone else might. And if you don't trust that person as much, don't worry, I'm rarely offline for long.
Okay, I'm off to bed soon. It's raining, so I think I'll go ahead and drive again tomorrow. (I'm still a fair weather commuter.) Plus, I really need to perfect my seat setup in my car. That won't happen unless I drive more. I've saved in memory a workable setup (the one I quickly put together at the dealership before driving off), but my sight lines aren't quite right (I think I'm sitting a bit too low, so I can't see the front of the car very effectively) and the reach from the steering wheel to the shift knob doesn't feel quite right. And the right side blind spot probably can be reduced a bit. The angle of my reach to the pedals and the positioning of the end of the seat cushion needs some fine-tuning, too.

Checking BF and my email, as well as eating oatmeal(it's good for you!) while pricing car insurance. Might have a new truck...well, this year. Hopefully, I'll have a new motorcycle first...after my new mountain bike, of course.;)

im on my free period.
now i gtg to study for history
I'm pricing varied forms of advertising and not loving it as I had no time to stop for coffee this morning. Okay, so even with coffee I wouldn't be loving it.
Related sorta to Karldar's post on another thread, on my way home from work yesterday I turned a corner and a car turned behind me. I hadn't noticed the car at all before turning the corner but he was pretty antsy. He revved around right over the double yellow going around me and hit the car in the oncoming lane. People. *shaking head* This area is flat....flatter than flat....he HAD to see the car coming. I stuck around and waited for the police to give info. Surprisingly no one was hurt but the man who zoomed around my was FURIOUS at the other driver. We're in the middle of the freaking country no way you thought that was a one way street. *sigh*
 Some people are just incredible.
I am sitting in my car, stealing the schools wifi, filing my taxes online and searching for an education attourney for a gender related legal matter... fun!

I wonder if he'll be on Canada's Worst Driver. Kinda scary when you see the drivers on that show.

Is that on TLC? I haven't seen the show but I wouldn't be surprised. It all goes back to the entitlement. How dare the oncoming car be in the other lane when he wants to illegally pass someone. He'll probably even try to fight the fines.
JSChen: Dude, you need new glasses. Them frames are so 20 years ago.
It appears this may happen sooner rather than later. On Sunday night, I managed to break my current pair of glasses. It makes for the third titanium-framed glasses frames I've broken. All at the same spot, too! (Left side, just above where the bridge and the frame holding the lens meets.) My next frame probably won't be an ultra-light titanium one. No more weight-weenie frames for me. No sir. The lenses, though, probably will continue to be high refractive index ultra-thin, ultra-light polycarbonate lenses.
I realized today that if I'm riding my bike tomorrow, having my left lens not really held in place probably isn't a good thing. So in the interim, I'm wearing my lab glasses with the splash shields removed. Look like normal glasses, but the style is even more old-fashioned than my broken pair. (I had a very limited selection of frames.) They're incredibly heavy on my nose, but they get the job done.
TSG has always wanted to help me pick my next pair of glasses. Maybe I'll let her and her sister do so. We'll see.

I don't know. My closest neighbor is a neat freak. Probably good hygiene, too. I doubt his feet smell all that interesting.
