Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Here's an idea...a pic of you doing a Nathan Fabian! As soon as I get the opportunity, I'm gonna get a pic of me doing one. Gotta start a new trend!
Oh man, I just realized I have a computer science project due friday. I'm gonna be pretty busy the next few days, so I gotta get started. Aaaahhhh, so boooooooring!! Maybe I can procrastinate a little bit longer....

Nathan Fabian has spread beyond SS/FG pretty damn fast. SBW, you jump w/ your eyes? How 'bout doing a trackstand?
I'm home, preparing a frozen dinner. First time ever. My parents stuffed my freezer with that stuff, so I have to eat some in order to make some freezer space. The Claim Jumper ones appear to be on the big side, yet they only have 500 calories. Hmm, I'll have to either eat two or eat something else. 500 calories is a big breakfast, not dinner. Maybe I'll have some ice cream later.
Yeah right. Too hard for my eyes. How about me cruising on my comfort bike?
ACTION!! You need to be hucking off a 10 foot drop or something. C'mon, show all the confusing men who's boss! :D
Maybe I'll have some ice cream later.
Dang, why is everyone in Foo so obsessed with ice cream? I eat ice cream maybe once a month if I'm lucky.
I like ice cream, but I don't usually eat it all that much. In 2.5 years of grad school, I bought ice cream from the supermarket once. And it was just a pint. Then my parents insisted on buying me some when they were down here for car shopping, and I got two more pints. One pint's gone. The other I started last night.
I guess in fairness, one reason I don't have much ice cream at home is because I don't eat at home that much. I do often treat myself to ice cream at the hospital cafeteria and occasionally get ice cream at one of various ice cream places.
I have plenty of ice cream available to me. In my dorm cafeteria, we have a soft serve machine with vanilla and chocolate. If I wanted, I could have soft serve for three meals a day, but I really don't like soft serve ice cream.
That's like at Harvard! :) A story floats around that Harvard cafeterias necessarily have ice cream (soft serve always available, scooped ice cream not too uncommon) because the Widener family donated a bunch of money with ice cream at every dinner being part of the conditions for Harvard getting the money. Harvard's dining services denies this rumor and claims that ice cream is always there simply because the demand for it is high.
The Widener family lost their son, a Harvard undergrad, when the Titanic sank. Harvard's biggest library was endowed in his memory. A big room occupying prime space in the library is dedicated to various items kept in memory of young Mr. Widener. The Widener family insisted that no brick of Widener library could ever be removed. Therefore, the expansion of the library had to be built through a window since otherwise, building the walkway connecting it to a nearby building would have required removing some bricks.

Some people like ice cream, some people don't. If you don't, don't try to understand it, just go w/ the flow. Afterall, you like Halo and I don't understand what the big deal is. I don't question it, I just go w/ the flow.
Ugh... dinner was disgusting. And unsatisfying. Oh well, time for some ice cream. Too bad I'm not too fond of the flavor I have on hand. (B&J chocolate chip cookie dough)
Cookie Dough is good! One of my favorites, anyways.
I just caught myself daydreaming. Actually, fondly recalling a fun daytrip last summer. In any case, that's not good at this time of night. I should be prepping my bikes and gear and getting to bed!
*sigh* I guess it's about time for me to be gettin' ready for bed.

Anyone ever used the "Who's online?" feature? It's kinda funny... and weird to read through it.

My bikes are prepped. (Both my carbon fiber roadie and my commuter.) My commuting gear is prepped. On to clothing and pre-breakfast ride gear...

If you go to the main page of BF, scroll down to the bottom where the list of members online is - there's a cartoon on the very left, if you click on it, you'll see who's online and what they're doing on BF at this very moment.
It had never occurred to me to click on that thing. Cool! :)

Yeah, you can also get to it from the scroll down menu at the bottom right of each page.
OT> I'm about to take a shower and then start reading a new book. Hope it's good.
Quote from Jschens favorite thread:
EJ123 has avoided accumulating a triple digit post count in "whatcha doin'?" Just barely, though... he currently has 99 posts in that thread.
I HAVE MADE a triple digit post! this very second in this VERY THREAD!!1 Wow thats a lot. I thought i was around 60 at most on this thread.=0
Wow, peregrine is a genius! I've never seen that. But now I don't think I'll ever feel safe on BF again. Everyone can see what I'm reading! Time to create a new account. :(
What book ya readin peregriny?

... oh I'm reading E. Wharton's The House of Mirth.

Yes, peregrine's a genius. And to think that I always get annoyed at my labmate when he can't figure out how a computer program works and I always tell him to just push every button he sees until he figures out what everything does, yet I've never tried clicking on that thing. :( And I'm a bit concerned about the fact that everyone can see what I'm reading.
I'm almost done prepping for tomorrow. I'll be wearing the following cycling clothing to bed to facilitate my getting out the door quickly tomorrow morning: socks, leg warmers, short sleeved base layer, arm warmers, long-fingered gloves, and head/ear warmer. I'll be nice and warm tonight. :) Note: If anyone's trying to imagine what I'm wearing, please note that I did not say that that's all I'm wearing. That's just all the stuff that stays on me tomorrow morning.
Ahhh! You people are too funny tonight! I should be going to bed, but I want to stay up and see what crazy stuff happens in Foo.
What if "Foo" has an underlying meaning:eek: like

I think i might play call of duty 2. If so, i risk the chance of my mom having found me up at 2 am and id be roast meat.
I think jschen should get it.
Yeah, you should stay up later...who needs sleep anyway? That's what Monster is for!
Teh monster is teh best. A little on teh sugary side. teh teh teh.

Yep. Fun.
I gotta change that avatar. Any suggestions?
I agree. I'm not sure what you should put in its place, but that one's too...something. Matronly, maybe? I don't know, that pose kinda reminds me of Vanna White, turning letters. No offense meant, of course.;)

I'm gettin' ready to eat a big bowl of oatmeal(with brown sugar and cinnamon...and a splash of milk). I'm also wishing that Episode 75 of Red vs. Blue was out for the general public and not just sponsors.:( Oh, well, I guess I'll drown my sorrows in oatmeal.:D

The 'Who's on Bike Forums' feature is kinda' creepy in a stalkerish kind of way.
What would be even creepier would be a 'Who's in the shower right now' button!!!
Of course, I know Lex and Texasguy pretty much have all my moves tracked anyway. That computer chip they placed in my jawbone still aches a little when it rains...

I'm trying to wake up w/ some coffee. It's not working. Also goofing around w/ the who's online feature to see how it works when multiple instances of the same account are in different threads.

Tex and I know nothing about any microchip....what a horrible thing to say about such kind and caring people who just want to make sure that nothing bad happens to you. *huff* It's almost like you don't want us spying on you. I know nothing about this alleged microchip.
*Looking for misplaced GPS tracker*
I'm drinking coffee and plotting my work course of action for today. Lots to do.
Got back from my pre-breakfast ride. I don't think I'll be commuting by bike today. More about that later, after I shower... but a shortened version now.
Mt Soledad gives no rest
My stomach chose to protest
On and on I chose to go
Very slow today I know

Whatcha eatin' for lunch? A titanium fork? (Yum... titanium.)
I'm eating breakfast now. My ride started out okay, with my legs being nicely up to temperature thanks to sleeping with leg warmers on. I was feeling great until I hit Mt. Soledad. Actually, even then, I was feeling okay until a bit after it got really steep, when I had finished standing and powering over the initial steep portion and had settled into a tempo climb. Then I wasn't quite at my expected pace, mostly because my cardiovascular system couldn't keep up. Then there's a two block section at the top where I stand out of necessity. I got there, and I was glad to no longer be dragging myself up the hill at a disappointing tempo pace, and I felt better once I stood again. But a block in, I was fading fast. My legs could keep going, but my heart, lungs, and stomach were protesting. I've read about a "sub-barf" pace before, but really have no clue what that might be. I still don't know, because at about 30-50 feet from the top of the ultra-steep portion, I threw up while still climbing. Made sure to throw up far enough from the bike to not get it on the bike, but kept going since if I stopped, I wouldn't be able to start up again because of the grade.
Made it to the top, removed some of the clothing, and decided to go ahead and proceed since the longest and steepest climb was already behind me. Finished my 15.4 mile loop with an average speed of 13.3 MPH, about 9% slower than my personal record. I'm a bit disappointed since I was hoping to be closer to 6-7% off my PR, and to ride at that speed without throwing up. And 13.3 MPH... that's as slow as the guy who CycleMagic made fun of on Sunday. :(

Will go to the local italian deli.. Italian sandwich, Foccia bread, capicollo, mortadella, pepperoni, salami, hot bananna peppers, feta cheese, provolone, and a mustard/oil sauce... Its a gread sandwich, but doesnt give more than a minutes warning when it wants out the other end.

It's the ice cream and nasty tv dinner. Try carbo loading a little and stay away from the dairy next time. Chocolate milk for recovery after the ride. The good thing is you did it and finished.
Throwing up five miles into a ride isn't really a nutrition issue. It's being above lactate threshhold for too long while climbing Soledad since my legs are still nearly as fast as before, but my cardiovascular fitness has gone out the window.
Right now, having eaten breakfast, my pulse is still at 90-100 bpm. When back in shape, it should be closer to about 70-80 bpm after a pre-breakfast ride and breakfast. (A bit high because of digestion.)

Holy freaking cow! Called Nashbar about the order I haven't received yet and was told it takes 7-12 business days which means conceivably I won't get it until next freaking week! I hate waiting! Arrrrgghhh!
My pulse is still at 100 bpm, and I didn't even cycle in to work. Boy I'm out of shape. :(
