I broke my hammer handle earlier doing some demolition. 4.5 years of hard use for a hickory handle wasn't a bad run.

I've seen those before and considered getting one, but I cheaped out and bought a fiberglass handled framing hammer instead.
I wish I got that instead, but it's a little more then I can spend on a hammer right now.

Fiberglass is good stuff, right up there with hickory for framing houses. Estwing's and other hammers with steel handels cause tennis elbow when you pound nails, so they are best suited for demolition.
By the way, you can get a stanley fatmax hammer which is the same as a death stick but half the price. Its one of the cheapest yet best options, not that there is any reason to replace the fiberglass one.

I just opened my email and got this message.
The coach had put together the perfect team for the Oakland Raiders. The only thing missing was a good quarterback. He had scouted all the colleges and even the Canadian and European Leagues, but he couldn't find a ringer who could ensure a Super Bowl victory. Then one night, while watching CNN, he saw a war-zone scene in Iraq.
In one corner of the background, he spotted a young Muslim soldier with a truly incredible arm. He threw a hand-grenade straight into a window from 80 yards away. Then he threw another from 50 yards down a chimney, and then hit a passing car going 80 miles per hour.
I've got to get this guy!" coach said to himself. "He has the perfect arm!"
So, he brings the young Muslim to the States and teaches him the great game of football... and sure enough the Raiders go on to win the Super Bowl!!
The young Muslim is hailed as a hero of football, and when the Coach asks him what he wants, all the young man wants to do is call his mother.
"Mom," he says into the phone, "I just won the Super Bowl!"
"I don't want to talk to you," the old Muslim woman says. "You deserted us."
"Mother, I don't think you understand," pleads the son, "I've just won the greatest sporting event in the world!"
"No! Let me tell you," his mother retorts. "at this very moment there are gunshots all around us. The neighborhood is a pile of rubble. Your two brothers were beaten within an inch of their lives last week, and I have to keep your sister in the house so she doesn't get assaulted!"
The old lady pauses, then tearfully says, "I will never forgive you for making us move to Oakland."

Sitting here feeling that the wind's out of my sails. Foiled again today. :(
Gonna Foo around to see if I can get a smile back on my face....

Funny, but I think people are too paranoid about oakland. East oakland is bad, but the rest of oakland is fine.

Fiberglass one broke about a week ago :p.
20 bucks at home depot when I bought mine. Plus the handle is thicker and should last even longer than a deathstick handle.

Pheard, about Oakland, I know people there. I don't know exactly what area they live in, but I do know they have been mugged 5 times now in various different parts of Oakland.
Death Stick? You have something called a Death Stick??? Now I can spread rumors about you. "Oh yeah he beat it so hard he broke his death stick".........*snicker*.
If you're going to do something, do it right. The term is not "broke his death stick", its "masturbated himself raw". And for the record, I was prying on a piece of wood with the claw when the handle snapped, not beating anything.
Damn it...long day. I'm on the desk tonight till 9. Bah humbug.

If he's only a handful maybe he should consider a penis pump or something.
the most stressful thing about it is making sure they finish in a timely manner before we close. which, might I add, explody, is 9 pm. taking account of the time difference, i'm not so sure you can make it tonight, but one of our other hands-on librarians will be more than willing to help you out tomorrow morning...

Actually, she said that if my insurance cleared I could come in at an open spot tomorrow morning. Part of me says that's probably not good. Especially after getting turned down so much by other offices.
I hope that just means it's a recently established practice and not that I'm going to be seeing Dr. Nick.
EDIT: Now that I'm thinking about it, she mentioned that the office only takes people who have my specific plan.
