Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Glad to hear you are hanging tough VV!!!
Things I have left at my apartment for now are my trainer and one bike, my computer, the tv in the bedroom and enough work clothes for the rest of the week. My brother laughed when I said "I gotta leave the trainer here...I can get at least three more nights of riding in before I'm outta here this weekend!" I don't even have a bed there anymore, I'm sleeping on two camping mats and a sleeping bag...BUT I GOT A TRAINER AND A BIKE BY GOD!!!!:p :D

OMG! Sounds like what I'd say! :D
"A trainer, a bike, a jug of wine, and thou." I could do without the rest. Well, maybe a computer for my Foo fix, and to download my ride data. :p
I'm not ridin' outside at the moment, cycle17, but I'm tryin' to keep challenging myself to ride longer, and to up my average speed, each time I ride. Without droppin' cadence. So far, I stay on the big ring, usually 52-22 or 52-19, and occasionally 52-16 for the final minute, while trying to maintain cadence. My tallest gear is only 52-14, so I may have to tighten my cam lever another 180deg by the end of the month to keep feelin' the burn!
Thanks, crtreedude! Every bit of encouragement helps. I still have a lot of work between now and April!

just got out of the shower. I went for a run today. well, actually a run-walk. Took one of my 3.5 mile routes and it kicked my arse. I could tell that I've not done one single solitary thing in the form of exercise for 3 weeks. sheesh!
Packing. They just induced my sister.

Hehe;) I hear ya! Funny that I still have all my wine here and even though I packed up the kitchen...I left the wine glasses out for now. Hmmm.....:p
The Fluid 2 will give you a real workout if you push it. I'm always feelin' the burn even on 39-27!!:p ;) <goofy sarcastic cycle17 look with head tilt>

Been too COLD, VV! Brrrrr! This thin gal has a lower limit, unlike some of our more rugged Foo'ers who will ride in -22C!
Thursday and Friday here look to be in the 60F's and sunny, though, so I should be gettin' back out on a regular basis. I'm hoping to have a new roadbike soon so I can dedicate my old beater to the trainer, but for now, I have to use it inside and outside. Kinda freaks me a bit to ride on the road now since I'm so hard on the tire with the trainer.

I do enjoy the surrealists, cyclezealot. Ever heard of Rita Kernn-Larsen, the Danish surrealist? Her work is awesome. She once lived in St. Jeannet.
See ya later, Foo'ers! :)
I enjoyed our visit vv. Would not mind seeing the museum again . In fact artists friends visiting us this summer will surely get us back. Have to check out Kernn-Larsen. First weekend of the new year we visited Dali's home at Cadaques, it was amazing; there were many straight lines. Dali's "Kiss Couch" is at the the museum.

VV...yes, I'm just joking about the 39-27.;) That is unless it's summer and I'm climbing the notorious "Stairway To Heaven" out in Scotland or doing hill repeats on John Street in Norwich. Then there is nothing funny...even in 39-27!! :p :D
Finally got done with my boring ass 3 hour bio lab. Then had spaghetti for dinner. Just gonna relax and not do anything for the rest of the night...*big sigh*

Seriously, I want to come up tomorrow night. Just gotta get my bike rack for my trunk, and pick up a new rear tire. And manage to get it on the rim. Also have to take my front tire off and reseat the tube since the valve stem has gone askew! And then get that tire back on the rim.
If I'm not too tired from wrasslin' with rubber and rim, I may just make it up there! :)

Yeah, but not for long. Allegedly only through March 6. Every Tuesday night, from 5:30-8:30pm, Hickory Motor Speedway opens the track for cyclists. Good practice for TT, but some just go to ride for fun. $10 admission, track lighting. Pretty nice by all accounts. But the recent very cold or messy weather made them cancel. Tomorrow night should be on, though. Including tomorrow night, only three more opportunities. I think that CycleMagic will be out tomorrow. I want to go if I can get my tire on the rim in time.
Again, any other Foo'ers from CLT thinking about going to HMS? <curious Vega look>

[Edit: 12:03am: Good night, Foo! Anyone want to come by tomorrow and help me prune a bunch of hollies and boxwoods, and then put on a very tight tire so I can go to Hickory tomorrow evening and ride on the speedway track? <hopeful Vega look>]

Well, now I'm even less optimistic about the job fair. I just looked at the handout that we are going to get. There's going to be over 170 companies there, but only 2 of them are looking for anything even closely related to biology. Gotta love engineering schools...
Looks like I'll be working for Uncle Sam! Department of Defense (http://www.defenselink.mil/) or the Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (http://www.edgewood.army.mil/index.htm). Those were the only two that came close.

Cool. Looks like the speedway has banked turns.
I've never been to Bristol Motor Speedway. I wonder if they ever open that up? It has steep corners.
Teach biology at a school in a really cool place that you really want to live Taerom.
Teaching is not for everybody. But if it's for you, then go for it, Taerom.
I'm at work. It's gonna be another long week, like last week. Hopefully not quite as long, though. Tonight shouldn't be too bad.

Interestingly, although Charlotte is only a few hours away, I'd never been there until I drove through last summer. My impression was largely shaped by the traffic. To my dismay, I discovered that the main highway that goes east/west through the city has 1 billion traffic lights. It was afternoon, it was hot, it took forever, and, frankly, I was glad to get out of there.

Just let me know when you'll be drivin' through again, VV. If it can be arranged, I'll either show you how to breeze through, or you can stop for some deep-fried dill pickles. Or just stop for a while. :D
