Jittery like that :D ? I finally got to watch that video. Wasn't as good as I was hoping for, but it was still good and was still funny.

Oh hahaha...yes, just like that. Furry tail spasms, buggy, twitching eyes and everything.
Flippin Sweet, I'm a grad student in synthetic organic chemistry.
TG, I'll keep my options open regarding running virtual environments on my future laptop. It's not as if I'm actually buying a laptop right now. (My laptop's a bit old at 6 years old. But my desktop is only 1.5 years old at this point.)

If you can wait 6 months Intel has a new bad ass chip that is coming out :D Even badder then the new duo core

"synthetic organic"? Isn't that a little paradoxical?
I'll be waiting more than that. Probably more on the order of 8-12 months. The new Intel laptop processor would be really nice.

You won't need any food if I keep you company. :p
About to take an early dinner break for lack of NMR instrument time at the moment. I scheduled myself for 8 PM, so I have a good 2+ hours to kill.

It's almost work-time, here...which is right after food-time...which, in turn, is right after nap-time. Hmm, or is it food-nap-time? Whatever, it's actually BF-time, then shower-time. Yay!

I'm watching Dr. Strangelove and wondering if I should change the rear tire on my fixie. The rubber insulation on my bike lock's been rubbed off in two places cuz it dragged against the rear tire and I had a flat in the rear today. I've got the 5 boro bike tour this weekend and don't to risk flatting again. I'll go looking for gatorskins or panasela's tomorrow.

"Hmm... Strangelove? What kind of a name is that? That ain't no Kraut name is it, Stainesey?"
"He changed it when he became a citizen. Used to be Merkwürdigeliebe."

George C. Scott's hilarious in this movie. Think I'll go w/ a new rear tire for this weekend's ride.

I was just looking at the pics of your bikes, jyo. That fixie looks awesome, dude!
A rough day, ending a bit on a high note, I guess. I don't know whether to laugh or to cry. Maybe a bit of both.
Tested a reaction today that I had also tried on Saturday. With a hypothesis formulated to explain why things didn't go so well on Saturday, I tried again. Got an unidentified compound, but with some starting material left. In an exactly one to one ratio between the amount of the new compound and the amount of starting material. Which we had dreaded because it most likely pointed to a certain undesired side reaction that we had observed before with a similar compound. (That side reaction uses two parts reagent for one part substrate, so if we add exactly one part reagent and get exactly 50% conversion, that side reaction becomes a prime suspect.) Felt that sinking feeling in my stomach that has become all too familiar.
I should mention that we had figured out how to avoid that side reaction in the prior case. However, in this case, on this attempt, I was already implementing the changes we devised in the prior case. And thus a really big sinking feeling.
Can't assign a compound's structure just based on how much conversion one gets, though. So I purified a bit of it to analyze the purified material and make a definitive conclusion. It turns out that the reaction worked the way I wanted it to. I just need to figure out how to get it to go 100% of the way instead of the current 50% of the way. That it went exactly 50% was just a really unfortunate coincidence that caused needless stress and hair pulling.
Okay, that's enough excitement for one day of labwork. Time to go home and unwind.

Thanks peregrine. It will look awesomer after I swap out the risers for bullhorns (doubles the hand positions and I can pop the Avid brake lever back on). It's an awesome ride too. Smooth as buttah! And it really helps me get better in climbing since I have to suck it up and use the gear I got. Consequently, I can climb a bit faster on my geared mtb.

I'm drinking tea and burning Cds.....I am in a rut.....a rut cut into a CD. Not much I can do though as we need 500 for advocacy packages and they're taking about 15 - 20 minutes each. *sigh*

My knees sure feel like that. I'm think it's due to my bike and the angle at which my legs like to usually walk at.

I think you can get a "thingie" like TG's talking about fairly inexpensively nowadays. Do you have to burn CDs a lot?
Oh, and how was your trip? Or have you come down here yet? I haven't noticed any loot missing.;)
