Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Calling the body shop to get my car fixed, cramming for my world politics midterm, cleaning my room, doing laundry, scheduling drug testing and physical for summer internship, eating lunch, and hopefully riding, because it's beautiful outside.

Yes but that is when I'm taking my "unofficial, unscheduled" vacation to Colorado. My boss knew the stress that that cancer thing was doing to me and when I told him the good news he told me to take the days off to finally get my dream bike. :) He had to tug and push at the schedule and piss some people off to sneak this time off for me and I felt real bad. But he told me to take the time to enjoy what I love most and to live life happy. Not to worry, he has it taken care of.
Isn't he cool? :o

Was gonna take the SUV so I can take the bike home but found out it's only $50 in the belly of the plane. No more Fed/Ex for me. Plus driving would take up too much riding time. I plan on seeing snowy sometime during my visit. :)

Siu, there have been a number of threads in Road Cycling about transporting a bike on a plane. Be sure you check them out. I'm sorry I don't have time to find the links for you. Try searching threads with key words like: transporting, hard case, airplane, shipping.... There are a few caveats you should probably see. :)
Done with lunch. Back to work. I'm afraid I'll have to put my ride off 'til tomorrow. I just have too much left to do. :(
At least the weather will be even nicer: 80F! :)

My mom has decided to make eggs for breakfast, then we'll ride down to the Columbia Sportswear Outlet for some mother/daughter shopping time. I love vacation. :)
I put this in the Anna Nicole thread, trying to threadjack so I'm copy/pasting it here:
_______________________________________________________________________________________
..........and I don't like it. I almost got stuck in a gutter grate, because I forgot you can't ride over them with skinny tires. Then I tried to hop it over a pothole in an emergency and that didn't work. Everytime I went over some sort of bump or crack in the road, I was screaming "OWWWWW!!! NO SHOCK!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Oh and forget the brakes. I went to press on the levers and they weren't there. Had to move my hands over to the side...........
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Edit: And then somehow I almost lost control of it and almost went down. But didn't.
Is this that purple specialized roadie you tested from that second bike shop yesterday?

Nice! (balistically thats BS, but thats beside the point;))
I would reccomend you get a T6 stock from Tapco while you can. I like a 6 position stock on an AK way better than the 12" LOP you'd get from a wooden one or a folder.

I used to have a SKS, but the 10 round mag bored me like crazy. Of course right after I gave it to my buddy Tapco comes out with the worlds first reliable 20 round magazines. Oh well, I'm gonna get a SKS M sometime real soon.
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m267/Michiganderbiker/Michigandershooter/sks.jpg
I haven't had a problem with large magazines in the SKS, I've stuck a 30 round loaded to capacity in there and it empties it just fine.
Than again, mine is a Russian made one, everything machined and milled, nothing forged. :p
Btw, nice drum. :D :D :D

All SKS's are milled from a cheap block of Commie steel. Chinese, Yugo, Russian, Czech, all the same. Some of the aftermarket SKS magazines work okay, but SKS's are all different, and so are the mags. Its hit or miss big time. Many people go through dozens of aftermarket mags and still can't find one that works, that is up until Tapco came along recently with the new polymer 20 rounders that I've never seen cause a jam. SKS M's on the other hand use AK mags and are AK reliable, yet as accurate as a SKS, and have the rock solid SKS milled receiver instead of the tin can AK stamped receiver. Thats why I'm about to buy one. Only thing that sucks is that Norinco is the only company that made them, and the arms embargo on china severely limited the number of them brought to the country. Its gonna be pricey.

Thanks, guys, for the laughs. cycle17: the real laugh would be to know if Keith99 a) wants to go camping with you and b) would keep your little secret. But he ignored you for some reason. Jon:   I didn't know if I should scream or laugh. So I screamed laughingly. :p

Just got back from an AWESOME first Tuesday night ride of the season! We went on a new route that included a bunch of hills to climb up an bomb down and we even made it back before dark. Now I am just waiting for my reward brownies to finish baking....yum!

I took the roadie out for a ride in this beautiful weather. 50's and just went out w/ tee and long sleeve pullover and did 20 something miles. Watched roadies fly by me left and right. Even when I'm fast, I'm slow. :) Now I'm just chillin'.

Company got in ok. Half an hour early. I was at the store. :o
Had a nice dinner out (yes, filet mignon, again. :D), came back to the house, another beer, a few laughs. Now I'm up alone. Well, me and Stella. But not for long. I'm wiped.
I will go do a practice run tomorrow afternoon at the site of the 3/24 race. Should be 80F, and I have some new PI shorts to try out. :)
CM! How fast do you guys ride? Maybe I'll come up in the next week or so. Well, not on 4/2, but perhaps on 4/9.... By then, I should have my new roadbike. :)

[Edit: 1:10am. Headed to bed. Good night, Foo! :) <wavin' and slinkin' off to bed, lookin' forward to breakfast with company>]
I should get my reading and planning (for writing a review article) done for the night so that I can go get some sleep. I have a dinner date tomorrow. :)
I'm packing for my two nights away...yay! Two relaxing nights a...wait...we're doing what Thursday morning? Hill repeats on Palomar Mountain? This trip isn't sounding so relaxing anymore!

Employment in which I make lots of money! :D I don't care really. Something somewhat related to biology or ecology preferably. Maybe an internship with the SCA (http://www.thesca.org/), if I can find one close to my town.
Repeats on Palomar aren't too bad. There's no ultra-steep sections to force you out of an endurance pace. Repeats on Baldy... that would kill me.
Getting ready for bed. Good night everyone!

the group is broken up into 4: A-go fast big boys (and girl), B-hilly, B-flat, and the rest of us. We did 22 miles with 15 MPH average. no one gets dropped, we have a lot of fun and watch out for eachother. you should come up and show off the new wheels when you get them! If you can't make it for a week night, then consider our Saturday am breakfast ride (shorter distance, conversation pace) or our longer Sunday ride. We'd love to have you!
