Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Psssst.....they're estimating 30,000 cyclists that day.
Yeah, I read that, but 30,000 maniacs isn't a band. That's why I'm skipping the start and joining the ride at Central Park. I got my vest so hopefully they'll let me in.
Just came back from the Central Park Moonlight ride. Not as crowded as the 5BBT, about 70 people or so, most of whom haven't been on a bike all year so there was a lot of near misses, gearing down at small inclines, a lot of wobbling, a lot of taking both feet off the pedals when they were unsure what to do, etc. Basically, a big challenge of my ability to ride very slow at chokepoints and the bottoms of inclines. Towards the end of the ride I'd had enough and just blasted past everyone to the front of the ride to avoid the n00bs.
Tomorrow's a rest day so my legs'll be fresh for Sunday. Good luck jsc and have a good ride! Let us know how it goes!

I'm not familiar with training so not sure if that's how it is for most people but I've discovered that not doing any cycling the day before a 50+ mile ride makes all the difference for my performance.
Anyhoo, are you gonna take some pics on Sunday, jyo?
Have fun and be safe!!
Ok, I'm pissed drunk right onw. It's 3:54am on Friday night......or saterday morning. Yeah, cinco de mayo was cool. I think I had way too many Margaritas & Coronas. I guess alcohol counts as loading up on carbs?
I'm gonna feel it tomroorrow. It'll be a rest day for me as well. I'll see you there on Sunday Jyo. Make sure you stop if you see me huffing & puffing at mile 15!
Alright, too much alcohol, nachos & quellsidias. Time for some shut eye.

I'll try to take some pics of my riding partners, all 30,000 of them. And if I see Cadd huffing and puffing, that means I'll be in worse shape. See you there!
Before I disconnect, I just wanted to say that, Lex, didn't you say you're blonde? I always thought you were a redhead, but that's just because your name reminds me of Lex Luthor, whose had red hair initially. Hmm, are you bald, maybe?;)
Okay, this may be only funny to me....but I am a blonde. I do believe the box says "Sea Mist Blonde." I dye my hair because the natural color is dark blonde with a lot of red and I hated the red....so you are picturing me as I was....or am....or maybe will be.....who knows as I've only seen my natural hair color once in the last 17 years. Predictions are (from my mother) that one day I will be bald so maybe you're like one of those psychotic folks.
I was sitting on the porch reading while DLO looked for interesting things in the yard. I just finished a reread of the fifth book (?) in the Sookie Stackhouse series, "Definitely Dead." (Book about a waitress with telepathy who interacts in the paranormal world helped along by vampires - hence the southern vampire series classification). It was excellent. I am now looking for another book and then dear little one and I will be back off outside.

I know you're out there right now, Jyo, but I hope you have fun!
Good luck to you too, Jschen! Also to Snowy who is out at a mtb comp this weekend, right?
Maybe DLO and I should get over to the park. *sigh*

And I'm back. I skipped the beginning of the ride and the consequent early wake-up and ride to the start and joined the ride in Central Park instead, about 5 miles from the start. That was the smartest thing I could've done since in years past I'd probably walk my bike from the start for the first few miles. 30,000+ riders don't make for smooth starts. Anyways, I joined up, rode up to the Bronx, back into Manhattan, then into Queens, Brooklyn and finally Staten Island. While Brooklyn and Queens are actually contiguous, we went over a bridge to Brooklyn anyway. Crossed a total of 5 bridges and rode about 47 miles all on my fixie. And while I was crawling up the last bridge (about 9 mph) my legs still feel ok and the ride home was quick. If you're interested, click here to see the few pics I took. I couldn't let anyone see my naked head! I'd have to get a big, blonde, Texas-anchorwoman wig. I've always aspired to have my hair stand really high and just don't have enough to do that. Maybe even go retro! I may have to find some hair clippers! :D

You'll finish next time. And next time you'll know not to let your training slip. You went pretty far for not having trained so w/ a few more training sessions you'd have finished easily.

What's wrong w/ my post-ride recovery meal? Chocolate milk has all the vitamins and nutrients needed to aid recovery. The burger's got protein to help repair the muscles, the tomatoes have anti-oxidants and the fries are are yummy. Gotta reward yourself sometimes. :D

Yeah! there's tomatoes and lettuce and a pickle wedge! And potatoes are grown in the ground! And the buns are made out of wheat flour that's also grown in the ground! 3/4 of that meal is vegetarian! That's pretty damn healthy!

Besides which (and I heard this somewhere and am sticking to it because it totally serves my purposes :D ) there's something in the artificial sweetner in diet soda that traps fat.

I'm at work, arguing with somebody because he doesn't understand that there are things that we do to make customers feel secure and comfortable when getting ready to checkout with 2k+ worth of products. And he thinks that his years of non-web experience and what not mean something over my 3/4 of a decade of dealing with web sites, web marketing, e-commerce and other related stuff. It's like fine if you dont want to show all these images to make customers feel secure then thats your sales you're hurting.

Good morning, people of the Bikeforums nation. I've returned from my training in the Central Maine hills
with much stronger but extremely sore muscles throughout my body. After all the hills I climbed and the sprints I did, I'm going to need to rest today. Pepsi really hits the spot.
