Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

nooooooo... salads are good for you, don't ya know :)
I'm watching Gilmore Girls cuz nothing else is on. It's the season finale. I never liked Lorelei.
Love the townies. The Troubadors were great as were Taylor and Kirk.
Taylor: Who is Neil Young?
Kirk: One of the Monkees.
This was Daniel and Amy Palledino's last episode.

I heard that. They might even be good for like when you're training for a race or something like that. :p :D

Hey jsc, how was the pre-breaky ride?
Just got back...
yesterday: 1:09:16
today: 1:05:13 (!!!) :D
PR: 1:04:05
Now that my legs are up for it, I'm really kicking myself for not having properly trained for BA. :( Even just the emergency training plan I had set up (one half-century to get cycling legs back, one climbing day, one long ride) might have been good enough.
Oh, and dog hair confirmed for the 28th. So my next hilly century's booked. :)
Good morning, everyone.

Hi TG... your job treating you any better than a few days ago? No longer feeling like hurting someone, I hope?

jsc: I told ya any bit of riding would get your legs back. But noooo, you didn't listen to me. Anyways, glad to see you're back on the bike and making huge improvements in your times. BTW, I'm betting tomorrow you'll do worse than you did today, but not as bad as Tuesday.
Lorelei just annoys me. Everyone else is funny. My wife makes me watch the show. Who's Daniel & Amy Palledino?
The writing team and executive producers. All of the obscure pop culture references come from them as does Lorelai and Rory's quick banter (Rory is annoying me now though).

Heh, that's usually the way it is. I think that's why they invented recovery rides. Not because they do anything to your body, but because you dont' have to worry about the time being worse then the day before :p

Yeah, the quick banter between the two is pretty annoying. Good thing today's Wed. cuz a new episode of Lost is on which is what I make my wife watch for making me watch the Gilmore Girls.

Glad to hear. I'm okay... still stressed and concerned about the slow progress, but plodding along.
jyo, I know, you're right. I won't let that level of de-training happen this time around, heading into May 28. As for tomorrow, we'll see. I'm hoping for another sub-1:06 time. And maybe sub-1:05 if I'm feeling good and the traffic lights cooperate a bit. I don't count time stopped, but braking from 40 MPH when there's an incline on the other side of the light is terrible for one's time.

Feels good to be back on the bike though, don't it? Don't watch your times too much, just let your legs get back into shape and the times will creep downwards. Watch your diet too since that has a lot to do with how much gas is in the tank when you do these rides.

Haha. I was getting ticked off because this one data source for a custom control wasn't binding. And my error checking routine said it was because no data source had been set and I was looking at the code and it was being set. Turns out i was accessing the raw member instead of the property so the data was never initialized

I'm slowly digesting lunch (masitas w/ rice & beans and maduros). I love Cuban food, but man, it always fills me up to bursting. Think I'll crawl under my desk and take a nap.

Yeah, it feels good to be on the bike. At least during the ride. I'm much hungrier and more tired at the end of the day, but I can live with that. I'm still a wee bit stiff, but the stiffness is wearing off.
Don't worry, I don't obsess over times. It's just that the quantitative side of my brain insists on knowing what's going on. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by my time today.
Had a bit of a loud frustrating discussion within the project team this morning. Things have calmed down since, though, and everything's okay at the moment. And it's lunch time.

Just came back from Central Park. Did a couple laps and had the following conversation w/ a roadie on a Specialized Allez at a red light. I caught him looking at the cog and probably wondering where the rest of the gears were.
Me: Hey, how ya doin'?
Him: How ya doin'? <Leans over> Fixed gear or singlespeed?
Me: Fixed gear.
Him: Cool.
Me: <Motioning towards his bike> Carbon fiber or aluminum?
Him: Aluminum. Cheaper.
Me: Cool.
Then the light turned green and we wished each other a good night and went our separate ways.
