Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

If I lived up there or you down here we would be riding buddies for sure. Having a partner to get you out of the house really helps. Today I'm a slug and I haven't been on my bike for 5 days! The longer I stay off the bike the harder it is to get going. I'm used to riding almost everyday.
Let's just both get off the couch and go. I'll meet you back here in about 3 hours. OK? :)

Just bought some more computer parts (3 hard drive suspensions, reduce vibrational noise and some IDE cables to reach where they are going), and some beef jerky (32oz hot, 12oz Dr. Peppper marinated).
I can't wait till I get that jerky....Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mm!

You forgot that mass does not equal weight. There's that whole density thing you forgot about. I expect more anal retentiveness than that from my engineers.:p

Heh, the next step grasshopper is to gracefully puke without slowing down or crashing the bike :p
....yeah I've gagged on some of my commutes before, usually when late as hell, or didn't have any water in my bottle and had to push....nothing says "awesome" quite like pushing 20mph on my mountain bike at the edge of the road blowing chunks into the grassy edge.

Either that, or the suds are gettin' to him! :D
Well, Foo, mission accomplished. And now, I really must attack my evil do-list, or I can't ride Wednesday. :o
Good mornin' Foos! I crashed last night at about 11:15, and didn't wake up until a little while ago. I guess I needed a good ten hours of sleep.
Since I didn't know I was going to be home this weekend, now I don't know what I'm going to do. Oh well, I guess I'll start by looking for some foodstuffs.

Morning Foo!
Velo Vol... How's your cat today?
Just woke up. BLEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Just wondering, are threads for road cranks different than the threads on mtb cranks?
polara426sh
06-23-07, 10:31 AM
Pedal threads or BB spindle threads?
polara426sh
06-23-07, 10:38 AM
Same. 9/16". Remember the left pedal is reverse threaded. The wrench flats are 15mm. Why they use english threads on the pedals and metric everywhere else on a bike confuses me.

Mmmmmmm, intervals 'til you puke. And people wonder why I stopped racing, lo these many years ago. (Well, that, and I wasn't very good at it. :o )
But as far as the interval thing goes, as a friend of mine likes to say: "I've had fun. This isn't it"
Okay, off to help the Blue Star Moms pack care packages so some of our men and women in Iraq can have a nice little Fourth of July surprise. Now don't the rest of you feel petty and insignificant? :p
Ah yes, guilt: The gift that keeps on giving.:D

Ok cool, because when I pick up my roadie, I'm going to ask them to put these on for me.

hey vega - what's this i hear about you not doing no more TT's??
BDG - way to go on the intervals. i haven't done anything like that where i feel like i'm gonna puke....

Jon, get some road traps. They don't look very grippy, but they are.
Or at the least get some alloy MTB rat-traps. Those will just be really out of place.

/no, it's not X rated....it was PG-13 by the time I woke up and realized I had an hour until work this morning!

I did ride. 20.5 miles 1600' of climbing in and easy 1:20. I had to work a little on some of the steeper sections and had a little discomfort in the calf but overall not too bad. I need to ice it right now.
No, it's too hot to cut those dang weeds. But I need to do it soon or I will have a forest. 86F and I'm in the house till it cools off.

You say that like I have no experience in that department. :p I am a mtbiker afterall. Sitting on a bike with tires that are skinnier than my thumb already makes me "out of place". Especially with my "mtbiker build". *WinKK*

Just debating about going to a movie. I had a good ride this morning. It was my first "real" ride since I moved out here. Met up with another BF member and rode on East Sammamish trail. We did about 24 miles and I had a pretty fast average compared to my usual. Sweet!!
What movie should I see? I'm thinking about that "1408" movie....looks kinda scary.

Very nice, WM! What a beautiful child, so happy, so engaged in the moment. What more could you ask?
I had to work my tanning around my yardman's presence today, playing cat and mouse, as I was basically, well, "au naturelle."
Now I'm contemplating just going to bed, as soon as I grill some sea scallops (and pay the yardman). <shrug> Nothing wrong with going to bed by 8pm, eh? Though I'll miss Allo, Allo on PBS, one of my fav Britcoms....
And tomorrow, I go to my parents' home, where we'll have a birthday lunch or dinner for my brother. And I'll get to see my father, who's not in great health at this time.... :o
And, maybe, just maybe, sometime tomorrow, I'll find time to make some progress on things yet hanging over my head.... :(
And so another week goes by, and nothing changes, and the next week looms large, like an albatross.... :(
I think that I will not turn on my computer at all tomorrow. And maybe, just maybe, I'll get something done. I just spend way too much time on things that feel good and fun, and no time on things that need to get done, and which hurt.
Good night, Foo. I'll see you later in the week.... <wavin, and slinkin' away>

it will help to get it done and over with, it will help your mood.It will help you.:)

Road traps might be a good thing though if you don't like clipless. you can get some MKS traps for around $30-40. Just be sure to use shoes with a decent amount of traction on them. I like using my Vans with my road traps (my folder has MKS folding road traps, no toe clips...it can't fit them at all).

hey guys -- we're in the process of grilling some filet mignon's, got some bakes sweet potatoes, salads, and a peach/blueberry cobbler...i'll show you guys what we did later on....i'm cooking "a-la-vega" style tonight!
also, i had a really good ride this afternoon after laying out on my deck to work on my tan in general. all this not riding, i've lost some of my cycling tan:eek:
BikeWNC - sounds like you had a good ride. mine wasn't nearly as long as yours or had the elevation change, but it was really nice to get out and ride today. i did 40min, 11mi, 16.5avg. i can definitely tell that i haven't been riding:( but, my knee felt good :)

I just spend way too much time on things that feel good and fun, and no time on things that need to get done, and which hurt. You need to balance the good with the bad. Don't run yourself ragged on the bad stuff. Take a break once in a while and do something you enjoy. Like BDG said, you'll probably feel a lot better once the crappy stuff is done with, but don't marathon it and wear yourself out.
Good luck, Vega, and goodnight.
