Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

K, you were doing some kind of simulations that weren't working right so you just cranked 'em out and put off fixing them 'til today. Hopefully that doesn't make you overly productive today.:p
Oh, and I made a physical shopping list last night. Even picked up everything on it this morning after work. Right now I'm checking email and whatnot before finishing up an episode of Cash In The Attic. Just finished my breakfast of eggs, bacon gravy and biscuits.:D
Yeah. I'm slowly getting back on track. I just gotta figure out which parts I half-assed and which parts were legit.
Breakfast sounds mighty good right now.
What do you do for a living?

I thought my stomach was gonna gnaw through my spine earlier. I must not be eatin' enough...though my bathroom scale might disagree. I know for sure that I'm not riding enough.:( Stupid life-giving rain!:D
I'm not sure I should tell you what my occupation is. I mean, it's in my profile and all, but...ah, hell, it's no biggie for Foo, I guess. I'm an...*glances around looking for pinko commies and other unsavory types*...gasp...autoworker. Feel free to flee in terror now, or beat me about the head and shoulders with a halibut.;)

No problem here. I help design/fix heaters that are used in refineries.
And as unpopular as they are on this forum, everyone here relies, directly or indirectly, on autos.
Time for some more coffee.

Damn, that sounds good. Haven't had biscuits and gravy in a loooong time. So the Karldar, if you're an autoworker, why you driving around in that beat up thing you drive instead of something that rolled off the line? Is it cuz you worked on it? ;)
I'm thinking about biscuits and gravy and waiting for work to end so I can go eat chinese food tonight w/ some friends. And trying to avoid work.

Hi, Bikeforums nation, how is everyone?
After all the wet weather, I hope everybody is OK. Due to all the rain, I had to postpone my trip to Mount Desert Island to next week. Training there provides serious preparation for the Trek Across Maine, during which each rider needs to go 60+ miles per day, rain or shine. Therefore, I climbed the steepest hills I could find in 20-45+ training rides as the rain came down. Training in the rain is definitely no picnic
but I made the most of the opportunity while I had it. I even lost 10 LBS in the process. By the time the rain ended, I retreated to my apartment with sore, stiff, and twitching leg muscles.
I'm now taking a couple of days off to rest and take care of things in everyday life. Then it's the real deal for Mount Desert Island.
Good luck and good riding, everyone.

Wow, jumping on the leg hurting bandwagon. :) Went on a couple hikes, a rather boring wedding, less boring after wedding party and a short bike ride during the weekend. Attempting to get caught up in work. More coffee, anyone?

Yea, a lot of sore legs today I guess. After all the rain we've had, I think most of us just had to get out and cram a lot of exercise into this weeknd. I know I did! Hence the sore muscles. I actually had the lid come off my coffee on the way to work today. Despite getting coffee all over me, I'm in a good mood today. Life is Good...Livestrong.

Jeez, is there something going around? My legs have been sore since Saturday night and I didn't even ride that far. I just figured it was all the riding, then sitting around in the cool air for a couple hours, then riding again, then sitting around in a bar for a couple hours, then more riding. That and maybe the 4 bridges I rode over. It's not the climbs, but probably the descents where I resist the pedals on my fixie to keep from spinning out.

Gosh what the heck is up with this
Everybody has sore legs
I went running, but i didn't get no stinkin gf to ruin my life
sheesh
Sooooo, I take the car down to get the oil changed and get its state inspect sine it is do the 05 06 and it is May. The dude says, "it will take an hour or so" so i'm like, ****, I wish i had brought my bike. So I'm here in business dress shoes and I'm jogging what is probably 2-3 miles,. we'll say 3 to make me sound glorious. By the time I cross 3 3 laned roads and get home I've owrked up a real great sweat. That evening my legs start showing their soreness. I can barely walk today and getting up out of a chair is done by gripping onto something for support .

Has anybody gone and seen "Over the Hedge"?
I went and saw that movie yesterday and it was freaking hilarious. The racoon was probably the cutest drawn character. THey really made him come to life. People who like to pick on humans and suvs probably should go to see it just because they will rpobably get a kick out of it. Overall i liked it.

Looks like we got a new net policy at work. No more Bike Forums while I'm here. And I can usually find better things to do at home than sit in front of a computer.
So, except for a post here and there at night, so long and thanks for all the fish.

Wow... this thread has been unusually quiet this afternoon/evening.
I'm finishing up work for the night. Just the usual. In cycling-related life, there was a suggestion that we change our Palomar century attempt to a 80-mile ride for pie. I'm glad that after some discussion, we're still doing the Palomar century attempt.
I hope it's so quiet because everyone's enjoying their evenings. :)

I was chatting all night :D
No way! Not as long as at home, my laptop is too old to handle that chat thingy... I'll still be here. :)
Oh... back on topic... reaction failed miserably (as we kind of expected), so that's the end of my worknight. Not sure whether I should be happy (done for the night) or upset (reaction didn't work). Oh well, whatever...

I'm just watching "Illuminating Angels & Demons" which uses Dan Brown's book "Angels and Demons" as a source for investigating any links between the Illuminati, the Templar Knights, the Masons and the Vatican.
Earlier, I went to dinner w/ some friends in Chinatown and had an incredible dinner w/ huge oysters, huge shrimp, scallops, a huge crab and roast chicken. It was all tasty and well done. I may have gotten my friends hubby in trouble though when she told me what kind of road bikes he had. She asked me what they were worth and I gave her some wild guesstimates. Oh well, he's a cat 3/4 racer so I'm sure he uses them all and gets his money's worth out of them all.

Hi cycle17, Hi Blondie! (cute avatar, girlfriend) Good morning....
I hate it when my manager takes extra days off. That means I have to be head manager instead of assistant. *grumble*. I got news yesterday that they want to give me my own location and another promotion. I just got this promotion eight months ago! I really didn't want to be an assistant, and I don't want to be head, either. Any ideas of how to turn it down?

Here's my two cents Siu:
You could tell them the truth. Something along these lines...
"I really appreciate the faith you have in my abilities, but right now I'm happy with the level of responsibility I have here. I'm trying to balance my work and personal life and right now, I'm satisfied with my current position. That could change in the future, and I hope you will consider me the next time this position becomes available."
Something like that should work. And it's honest.

05-23-06, 06:59 AM
Thanks, cycle. That's EXACTLY how I feel. I told them that the first three times they offered the assistant position. Then on the last time, they told me that this was their final offer, that they were not going to offer it anymore. I told them that I was comfortable with my position as clerk, and "thank you for your trust in me but at this time I feel that I would not be able to perform for you my best therefore setting higher expectations than I can provide." Two weeks later, I was transferred. When I arrived, I was introduced as the new assisstant.
I already told them in gentle words that if I were to be moved from my current location, I would be giving up my position and stepping down. Here it is four days later and I hear that I'm getting my own location. I really don't want to be forced into this. The only reward in this is that the original person I worked for when I was a clerk is relinquishing his position as manager and they need a replacement. This is the same guy who sent me out of the department because I wouldn't play "The Game" like his little cutie did. (If you know what I mean.) He reported to top management that I was the worst employee but big boss saw differently and gave me the promotion. In essence, I would be replacing my old boss. heh heh.

Hey. I'm not greedy.... If I won several million, I'd gladly split it with others. People have won multi million dollar lotteries with multiple ticket winners and then said dumb stuff like "Yea it's great to be a winner, but I wish I didn't have to split the 19.9 million with Millie from Florida."
Unbelieveable!

Heh no kidding. If won a 26 million dollar lottery I'd be willing to split it at least 13 different ways. I mean I technically only need about 3-4 million at max :)
Good idea TexasGuy, AND YIKES Blonde why are you doing that??
