Ummm...dang..that's a scope! What are you mounting it on? Rifle and cal. would be nice to know.
What you going to plink with that set up?

nice set up! I 've always wanted a .17 but really have no use for it, a .22 takes care of most varmints, and if its bigger then a cat, I've got my choice ranging from a side by side 410 ga, 16ga Browning semi auto, 30-30 lever action, .45 cal black powder rifle, .45 cal black powder deringer, or 30-06 bolt with a 4-9x scope.
So, here's cypress after a good round of sighting in:

The .17 HMR is wayyy better than the .22! The deucedeuce is good for those tough 25-30 yard shots. The .17 is gold up to 200 yards. Hitting something within 150 yards makes a nice "pop" sound with the V-Max bullets.

24 power for a rimfire? Dang. I wouldn't have thought the .17 would have a range long enough for that to be very useful. I guess if you want to hit a beaver in the left eye at a couple hundred yards that's the way to go.

Agreed, that's why I always wanted one. But I just don't have the time to put it to proper use and I live in the city, so I can't go shooting varmints in the back yard. For now, I use a high power pellet gun in the back yard, and even with that its a major problem if I miss.:(

I know it's a fast little bullet, but couldn't the wind knock it around pretty easily? I admit I don't know much about the cartridge, but I'd think if a .223 has trouble in bad wind, a bullet half the size and a solid 500 fps slower would too.

I do have a knack for the finer things in life. :) Goji berries taste really good with macadamias, or thrown on top of salads, or soaked and blended into smoothies.

Mmmmm...berries.
MV likes berries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, cherries (ok..these may not be berries, but who cares?).
MV also likes melons, watermelons, honeydew melons, cantaloupes, and the list goes on.

My favorite is blackberries with milk and ice blended together - wonderful stuff!
I finally finished laying track on the walls. Phew, I'm tired.
I'm currently thinking about what tires to put on my new wheel set. Any ideas?
I'm also having some fun on the site that Tom posted regarding building up your own track bike. So far I've built two. I'll continue daydreaming and make a couple more when I get bored.. :p

Just finished washing/lubing the bike.. Amazing how well it washes up.
The front wheel rotor is still dragging.. grrr... Dont know why.. Any awesome foo advice? (it worked for the Philly steak sammiches...)
Depending on the condition of your caliper mount, you can loosen the bolts holding the caliper onto the mount, squeeze the lever, tighten the bolts, and the rotor should be pretty much centred when you release the lever.
This, of course, only works if your brakes are hydraulic.

Just about to head out for my girls night :) I'm all fancied up, I realized I haven't gotten dressed up in quite a while so I even broke out a skirt
Should be a fun night, though I'll only be there for a few hours since I need to be up early to go to work tomorrow. At least tomorrow is only an 8 hour day! 8-4! Then it's the long weekend

VERY subject to breeze the .17 is ...
"Using Wayne Blackwell's Load From A Disk, I found that with the muzzle velocity and ballistic coefficient produced by the little bullet, an eight-mph crosswind was worth 12.3 inches of deflection at 200 yards. A five-mph wind would deflect the bullet 7.7 inches at 200 yards, and a 10-mph wind would shift it 15.4 inches. On a normal day here, midday breezes commonly go to 15 mph, which would deflect the bullet 23.1 inches at 200 yards, according to Load From A Disk. At 100 yards, a 15-mph wind would deflect the bullet five inches."
"With its intrinsic MOA accuracy, the .17 HMR cartridge is accurate enough to score clean kills on small game at 150 yards. The small game hunter with a .17 HMR rifle is pretty much out of excuses for his misses, at least on a calm day. But beware of the wind! A 10 MPH cross wind will blow the 17 grain V-Max bullet 8" laterally at 150 yards, or the 20 grain XTP bullet 8.8" off course at the same range."
"Because the .17 HMR cartridge is very susceptible to the effects of wind, we tried to do our shooting on calm days. But there is always some air movement in the hills, and it does enlarge .17 HMR groups."
so I even broke out a skirt
This thread is worthless without pics!!

Hi Liz!
Wrapping up work. It's been a frustrating day. And mentally planning my upcoming weekend ride. The middle of the ride will be a 57 mile SoCal BikeForums group ride. I plan to ride to the start and ride back home for a nice weekend century ride. Maybe even take a hilly detour on the way home if I still have it in the legs at that point. We'll see.
I'm off to bed...good night folks.

...Right now, while you are on BikeForums.
I'm waiting for the wax to haze on my bike before I polish it off.
Then I'm going to eat ice cream. :D
I just had pineapple DoleWhip. If you've never tried it, ya gotta...trust me! Eat it slow or it will freeze your brain. :p
Busy day today, first chance I've had to get on BF.
