nope. I was gonna try to ride later this evening, but the temps are gonna be....99F and "feels like" 108F later this evening:(. Yuck, Yuck, Yuck. May have to just suck it up and ride around 7PM...it'll be 8 degrees cooler then:(
If I still lived down there I believe the summer would be spent on the trainer. Can't stand the heat. I remember just crawling into a dark room and sleeping when it got that hot. Not good for me. Though I did play a ton of softball in some really hot weather. Go figure.

Well, I had a trainer for the winter, but I sold it because I just can't stand riding one. Just the thought of getting on that torture device was enough to make me not even get on it. So, I bought clothing for colder weather and have to just figure out a way to get some riding in during the hotter periods of the summer.
On that note, my husband has been waiting patiently for me to get ready:)...we're going phone searching now.

Gotta get ready for my daughter's bday party. She's 7 today. Got her a new hot pink specialized 20" mtb. She loves it.

Nice. :)
My oldest (now 21) had a pink 20" Schwinn. She handed it down to her younger sister (now 17).
The little girl across the street is still riding that bike! I think she is 7 or 8.
I hope your daughter has a wonderful day!
Nice Job NWC, my son rides a red flamed Specialized Hot Rock, the other rides a blue Thomas the Tank engine Huffy.
I am cooling down right now. One yard mowed and edged, one yard to go.
Did I mention I ran into Satan in my yard? He was complaining about the heat.

Good morning Foo. I'm currently having a pretty late breakfast then I'm off to ride to work to fix my mac. Hopefully, afterwards I'm going to ride the path.
Dang. All I had was shall we say "risque" dreams last night.
Guess my subconcious doesn't know I'm Mormon. I have to be celebate until marriage, so stop it!!!!
Too bad your subconscious doesn't care about such unnatural constraints. ;)

Back from a ride about town on my cruiser. Lord, it's like swamp-steamin'-hot out there.
Too hot for a training ride on my fixed, just took things slow and easy-like on the cruiser
enjoying the people and sights. Besides, I ran a 10k this morning inside on a treadmill in
the air-conditioning. :p

Need to figure out how to take 6 months off from work and the rest of life so I can try to hike 2100 miles up the AT.

God I'd freaking LOVE to do that too! A father of a friend of mine did the whole trail after he retired
from our company a couple of years ago. Sixty-five years old and he went form Georgia to Maine mostly by himself. Lived off of mostly dry-milk and Snickers-bars to hear him tell it :D.
He's a super guy!

I can't decide whether to go northbound or southbound. I live about 25 miles from Amicalola Falls park, so would not be a problem to go northbound, but it might be really nice to end so close to home. I think I'll take a little bit more than dried milk and snickers with me too. I'm partial to red beans and rice, coffee in the mornings (in fact, I'd probably take on a bear if it threatened my coffee stash ), and hostess cupcakes.

The guy I'm talking about went northbound. He finished in mid-September right before it got damn
COLD up there! With my life, I may have to wait 'till retirement to do it too ... something to shoot and
train for for the next 25 years ... :D

Most people go north with the spring. Lately, we have been seeing through hikers at the NOC as early as mid Feb. The traditional start is around the first of March in Ga.
Starting in Maine is difficult until later in the spring then you have to deal with blackflies and mosquitos and then the summer heat as you go south. A few hikers start in Maine in the late summer then have cooler weather as they go south. By then the trail is usually very dry and water sources become an issue though it can be less crowded that way. Hunting season is also a factor. My brother did it South to North in 1984.

MV, maybe you should fly north with your gear (or do a one-way car rental, or go Amtrak), and hike back down. <shrug>
Sounds like a great adventure. I'd never hike the whole trail, but a small part of it might be ok. :)

Meh, I've been busy this week. Had a great ride today, much needed after a bad night last night. Now I'm just relaxin' and grillin'. And seein' that I need to get out on my deck again to even out the new cyclist tan lines from just two hours of ridin' today (even with sunblock!).

I don't know, I just dumped them into the pot with a little bit of water, only covering them about a third of the way and put them on a medium low heat for about 20-25 minutes. Whatever that method of cooking is called, that's what I did. I normally bake them in the oven though, I just didn't think about it in enough time to put them in with the chicken.

That's more like braising. You should consider adding just a splash of lemon juice and a sprig of rosemary next time. Yum! :)

One thing that has helped me is to learn new stuff. Living in the tropics gives me the opportunity to learn a new language, culture and ecosystem. Fascinating really. We tend to like to make our world small, but it is so much more fun to expand. So much to learn and so little time to learn it all in.
