Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Vivian decided to go on strike. She mumbled something about an abusive owner or something...
She got tired of you sitting on her bareback without properly wiping. Comon, Jason.
:( My spare bike is the one I do my trainer riding on.
But anyway, if she doesn't feel like playing, my Specialized Allez take her climbing wheelset and we'll go climb Baldy without her. He could use some exercise, having not been on an outdoor ride since Jan 27.

Pheard, I sense that you on the path to a full understanding of womankind. Don't leave the rest of us poor ignorant men behind. Tell us each and every insight in detail, no matter how excruciating.

Good morning Foo. It's bright and early here in Chicago. *yawn* I just wanted to stop by and say hello. My agenda for the morning is to do some community service. Woot...6:30am-12:30pm. Hopefully, it won't be too cold for the service project is right on the lake front. I think I might just prepare for cold weather and wear my Under Armor.
Have a good Sunday everyone. *waves*

Thanks for the offer, but, when it comes to information on the opposite sex, wild speculation is generally more reliable than personal experience.
Good morning, Foo. :) My Specialized Allez (think Malistryx's bike without the white bar tape) and I are headed for Baldy today. :D

I'm getting ready to go over to Tsali for a Specilaized 08 bike demo day. Gonna try out the new Transition, Stumpy FSR and whatever else grabs my attention. I'll bring my camera.

Just got in from my long day yesterday. This weekend is turning out to be quite crazy but in a really good way, spending a lot of time having fun with my friends :) Although since Friday morning I've been home for ~30 minutes. And I'm only home now because I have a wedding to go to in a few hours.
The Medieval Faire was pretty fun :) My cyclist friend wore his kilt again, that is always a good thing. More cyclists should wear kilts.
But now I have to run and upload pictures, get cleaned up, and get ready for this wedding :D So glad it's turning out to be a beautiful day!
Good morning, Foo. :) My Specialized Allez (think Malistryx's bike without the white bar tape) and I are headed for Baldy today. :D
And without the stylin' white and pink saddle ;)

It's ten o'damn clock, and I have yet to get out of bed. Though according to the battery meter in this here lap-o-top, I'll need to in 20 minutes or so.
Hey, someone has to balance out all of you productive, useful people, doing community service, going to fairs (and faires!), going to weddings, going on bike rides... sheesh. :p

Although I think many who spend time in Foo are wasted, or altered by modern science in some form or fashion.

Back from demo day. Rode a Specialized 08 Tarmac SL Sworks, Roubaix SL Sworks and a Stumpy Sworks FSR. I really liked the Tarmac. It really surprised me. Climbed very well on the 14% section I tested it on. The Roubaix was OK but not quite for me. It was not as snappy as the Tarmac.
The Stumpy was awesome. What's not to like about that bike? Mindless on singletrack. $7400 msrp!
Wow dude, you test rode a stumpy?
Man, it looks like the design is different for 08 on the stumpies.
I saw the new 08 treks at the lbs the other day, the road bike designs seriously look like last years specialized. But the new trek fullies are friggen sweetness. I kept looking off to the bikes while I was tryign to talk to one of the workers. I was like "WOW are those the new 08 treks? they are hawt."

+1 Not only that, but the only way I can post is to reply, since the new post box doesn't show up. And on some thread pages, I'm seeing code, just before the page is cut off. Is no one else but me and Mich having this problem? No other website that has long pages is giving me problems....
It's enough to make me give up on Fooin' around today. :o

Yeah, the 08 Stumpy Sworks FSR is sweet. Full carbon frame, 5" travel F&R, 1.5" headtube, super stiff, tracks great. It just rides down the trail. The first thing I noticed was no pedal bob. Coming from a HT that would have been obvious. Second thing is that I wasn't micro managing the ride. I just looked up the trail and it would go. No worries about the little stuff. Inspires a lot of confidence. Light, carves turns great, and climbs well. All positive except for the price tag.

No other website that has long pages is giving me problems....I'm not having that specific problem, but the server is taking a long time to respond initially. I'll click on a thread (or post a reply, or anything), and it'll sit there for thirty seconds or more before it starts loading, but then it loads at normal speed. Fuh. Been going on for a few days now.

See the thing about it, and I've heard very similar reviews of the stumpy fsr. No need to watch the trail, just literally glide through, but some think that takes the fun out of cycling. Part of the fun of technical sections is looking down and guiding yourself. But since I don't give a crap about that I'd love a stumpy fsr. If you really wanted one, try maybe the non carbon fiber frame 8gee price tag? Na'mean? :D

The bike is still plenty responsive to pick a line through any technical stuff and I did. It's just that I didn't stress about it at all. Most of the time my eyes were up the trail, which for me makes for a faster and safer ride. The carbon frame pro is about 2K less than the Sworks. I didn't try the Al frame but I've been told the carbon is stiffer and handles better, FWIW.

Pretty please with sugar (or fresh fruit) on top, tell us your forums problems on this thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=344167). We know about the server speed, but some of these other issues are new.
Good luck with that approach.

No disrespect, but I would find that hard to live with. That's just me. Now a nice week or two in the tropics during the heart of winter is very nice. But I couldn't deal with the same temps and length of day yearlong.
I'm a few moments from doing a ride on the roadie, I was fueling up on chocolate peanut butter malt. Only 1000 calories per glass, great to maintain my figure.
I was making a dope arse mix for riding, that's why I've been putting off the ride for like 4 hours. :p

No offense - it is a hard job but someone has to do it... ;)
I had half a lifetime of broiling and freezing for a half a year - but it sure made you thankful for those few perfect days you get.
So I went in search of them. I'll let you know when I get bored. :D
One issue I have that you probably don't is a genetic condition that cause my hands and extremities to hurt when the temperature drops below 60 or so. I used to stick my hands under hot water when I would get in to remove the pain. Circulation issue and it is genetic.
My mom said I would just have to live with it - Nope, there is a solution to everything!

Sounds like something similar to Raynaud's Syndrome. That can be really painful in the cold.
Ok. Mix tape.

Whatever it is, it isn't crippling but very uncomfortable. When I lived in NJ, from October to May it will feel like your muscles feel when you have pushed them too hard - that achy feeling. Not enough to make me take pain kills but enough to make life a bit unpleasant.
I have almost nothing here - I just live where I have to sweat just a little during the middle of the day.
I am just happy there is a solution - I am a cold weather exile!
