Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just got up about an hour ago....got the day off. Good thing too, because I can't freakin' breathe out of my nose. Glad I got The TT race in last night. Too bad I've got about 180plus miles to ride over the next two days and can't breathe! Ahh-well...that's life somtimes. Two more parts came in for my TT bike, have to head off to the post office and grab those, pick up a few things from my trip tomorrow and decide what I'm gonna wear on my date tonight based on the weather.

You got a tandem for tonight's date? Don't forget the protection. Mace or pepper spray oughtta do it. And maybe a U-lock.

it was raining earlier. Good thing it rained after I got to work. Now there's dark menacing clouds in the background and the sun is out. The wind seems to have stopped howling around the building too.
I'm on foo early
and so the rest of the day will suck
Im trying to do cleanup on code so that i can start getting to the bulk of whats there. Cleanup days are never fun.

Well you're a braver person then me. I could probably go to a doctor and rehab for my shoulder but I don't.

Hey BDG, hope your shoulder heals up soon. Go see the PT and get it worked on before your next race.
I'm sitting in my office in shorts and a t-shirt and I'm refusing to change into my work clothes even though it's freezing. No one else is in the office so I didn't bother changing. I'm just leaving my work clothes here for next week. Think I'll go warm up outside.

I imagine positioning on the bike makes a big difference...the amount of shoulder internal/external rotation, the amount of weight on your hands, etc. Hope they do you right, and get you set up as well as possible.

Thank you, Flippin! That was actuallly taken while I was practicing my Kata. I was in a wide stance with the escrima sticks in a head block formation when the pic was taken from behind. I work out everyday.

That's so cool. I wish I had enough control over my body to get that good at something. I wish I knew how to do martial arts or dance. Those two things, to me, seem to require the same kind of discipline over body and mind. I'm just too klutzy, methinks.

Hehe! Yes, Friday makes me feel better. Siu's hug makes me feel better! (HUG) :) I did have half a glass of kombucha this morning and I feel a bit better, but still kinda blehy. :( I think my only solution is to go out and get some excercise. A hike or bike ride, perhaps? If that doesn't work, I'm making soup and going back to bed!!!

Thanks TG! The TT race was last night. I posted a full report on my "NEW TT Bike Thread" here in FOO. I feel a bit better, but I have to jump in the shower and get ready for my date in a little bit. Tomorrow is about 80 plus miles worth of riding and sunday close to 100 miles, so I hope I don't die on the rides from lack of oxygen!!:p For those of you who have an interest...check out the race report and I'll check in with everyone for sure on Sunday evening when I get back. Chao. :)

You wish you could rub her feet. You are not man enough to rub her feet. You may however pick up her drycleaning, but you're not allowed to look at her unmentionables.

Well, if they won't go to bat for you, you can at least still experiment.
Any saddle repositioning that takes weight off of your hands is almost sure to help - i guess that would be moving it back a tad in relation to the crank, and/or tilting it back a smidge. I just made some small moves toward this end, and a little change goes a long way. Then there's just having a "default" hand position that works best for you.
I realise that this has probably all occured to you, but just on the off chance I thought I'd throw it out there....

You are almost, but not quite woman enough to rub any part of me. You may be able to rub wax on my car, but you'll have to pass a rigorous test involving angry alligators and blood thirsty mosquitoes.

BDG, can you compete in duathlons on a recumbent? That should take the stress off your shoulder.
I just got home from work and now I'm gonna go out and ride some more. Did 15 miles on the way home eventhough I'm 2 miles from work. Now I'll just ride around CP to get to 30 miles for the day and then I'll be ready for pie.

06-16-06, 06:16 PM
And I'm back. Did two loops around CP. I remember when I struggled up the big hill and could do only one loop on my mtb. I even remember walking up the big hill the first time I tried it. I still hate that hill, but at least I can ride it a few times now. But I still hate it.
Got "The Look" from some guy today. He had passed me on a downhill and I passed him later on an uphill. Then he passed me on an uphill and that's when I got "The Look". Then I passed him on a flat. Later he passed me on a big downhill leading up to the big hill and I didn't see him after that. Why did I get "The Look"? Simple; I kept within the same speed range of 17-18 mph on the flats, small uphills and downhills. He would speed past me, then slow down and even coast so his speed range was more like 14-18 mph. And while I'm no expert, all the little swerving he did when he was pouring it on made me think he was a fairweather, occasional rider. Oh well, I did what I set out to do which was get a nice ride in at CP. I even bumped up my day's avg. from 11.3 mph to 13 mph. Now I'm wondering if I should have pie ala mode for dinner.

Figured, after a long week I could go and kill myself on the mountain.
.. and to all you people on the trail who never keep to the right side- I CAN GO AS FAST AS I WANT, KEEP ON YOUR SIDE STUPID HEADS. Yea, almost running into someone while hitting 35 around a corner makes me go crazy.
