Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hope everyone's doing better this morning than last night.
Dragged myself out of bed early since I'm going riding with a friend, and he's going to show me how to adjust things on my bike to make it behave better :D My mechanical skills are still limited to changing a flat, so I'm glad he's willing to teach me stuff. Probably going to just go for a road ride since my favourite trails are going to be all muddy after all the rain the last few days.
mal-- that was the best part of dating a canadian: TWO thanksgivings!!
I get two as well, but just because my parents are divorced :p

Mornin', Foo!
I'm back on call for the 3rd time in 5 days. I've been on this rotation (pediatric surgery) for a week now and have managed to establish myself as the black cloud--whenever I'm on call we just get smacked with admissions/traumas. For instance, Saturday I had 14 new patients, 7 of which were traumas. Yesterday my colleague had 4 patients, one of them a trauma.
Hopefully the tide will turn today, but being that lots of kids are home from school I'm not holding my breath... :(
When I leave the hospital tomorrow it will have been 90 hours in 6 days, of which about 2 hours were sleep. Yippee!

I'm sipping a shot of Jameson's with you, VV. I got to meet my brother's soon to be inlaws tonight, and we had a delicious dinner and a fun time. It's nice to think of my family finally increasing after 20 years of steady decreases. It did put me in mind of the decreases, though - particularly our dad. <sigh> Well, it's been a couple of weeks since the anniversary of his death, so I guess it's normal for my mind to be on this path. It'll pass.
Tomorrow would have been my Dad's 76th birthday. He died eleven years ago. :( Yeah, I still miss him.

Playing with my balls
They're not Buggy Balls are they?
I saw a set of those hanging from a trailer hitch yesterday and nearly drove off the road I was laughing so hard.
Mornin' Foo.
First ride with the new Eggbeaters this morning. Taking off from the house, I clipped right in, so I thought, "Hey, no big deal, my clipping-in skills transfer!" Then about halfway to work, taking off from a light, it (ergh) took me (oof) about half a (grr) block to freaking (ack!) clip my right foot in (ahh).
They're pretty nice, though. Silent, effortless unclipping. No more *kachunk-kachunk* unclipping at lights.

Good morning foo...
It's a holiday here in Canuckistan so after I get some chores out of the way I'm going to pick up my friend and take her for a ride since she has yet to exerience the wonder that is our river valley.
It looks like it's going to be another glorious sunny fall day and figure I better break out the mountain bike since there will be consicuous lack of asphalt on this afternoon's ride.
"you didn't drink that much, did you?"
It doesn't take much to give me a hangover as I have the alcohol tolerance of a 7 year old girl but am feeling pretty chipper today.

So you realised that the photon missed the atom, and is therefore continuing on its original course towards Alpha centauri and that there is no recoil momentum to speak of? :p

I'm getting my bike stuff together for tomorrow's Vega Invitational TT at the Lowe's Motor Speedway. I remember reading somewhere that a sweaty, stinky bike kit will stick to the skin and be more aero. Maybe I shouldn't wash those clothes this evening.
Went for a short-though-longer-than-around-the-block ride on the IRO, now that I have some more useful pedals on it. It's amazing how aware of your surroundings you get when you don't have brakes to fall back on. :p
Just to let everyone know, I'm learning spanish.

Vamanose a la Biblioteca. Se habla frijole. Muchus gluteus.
That about exhausts my Spanish.
Just out of curioisity, Jon - are you learning, Spanish, Mexican or Argentine (or some other variant)? Apparently, there are very real differences, probably even more so than between American English and English English.
But then what do I know?
You're completely correct my good sir.
Central american/salvadorean slang.
My GF tells me the slang is different from region to region, but the rest is the same.
soooo....
my friend called my parents' place in the spring & mentioned that she really had to get a hold of me. my mom screwed up the message & i didn't get any recent contact info for her. just found out that she has a bun in the oven & is due in the middle of december. i think that's why she wanted to get in contact with me... she used to confide in me with a number of things & i bet she wanted to talk/ get my input about this. *sigh* she can't take care of herself let alone a kid...

Yes she does. I try to speak to her as much as possible in it. :D Meh. I think it's a beautiful language, I just gotta help people see it my way.

Just want those of you who are trying to contact me to know that I'm not dissin' you. And, BikeWNC, I think you should wash your kit before you ride. I don't know where you heard what you heard, but it ain't true. Serious. An' WP, we totally understand. You stay put, and take care of your most important issues. :)
Anyone who doesn't have my email or cell, just drop a line to polara. This, assumin' he's even checkin' his email/online Foo messages with the beautiful and illustrious eboo around.... :)
BikeWNC, whatchutalkinbout? You're gonna come down here to the flatlands to ride TT next year at least once. It simply gets in yer blood, and that's all she wrote. ;) I hope to make at least one of the Asheville TT series rides next year, too. :) Deal? <disarming Vega smile>
Sixty-Fiver, what are these butterflies of which you speak? <curious Vega look>
Crap. At nearly midnight this night, I'm almost embarassed to say that no one else checked in on "Whatcha Doin'?" :o Nay, I'm almost depressed about this. This thread, over all others on BF, has been the most reliable and most stalwart of all BF threads as far as keeping folks moving forward when life seems pretty dismal. :o
So, Foo, why doncha continue to check in, and let us know what you all have been up to? <concerned, yet tired, Vega look>
Hey, you, there in the n00b area, just ignore Vega's crowfeet wrinkles, whydoncha? <laughing> C'mon, and don't be afraid to toss in your thoughts! This is Foo, after all. :)

Ok Vega...I'll check in....I've been hanging with the cops all night, and not by my own choice. No, I did not get arrested! A seemingly normal employee at my place of work had a major meltdown this weekend and threatened several people with bodily harm. Our place has been on 24 hour surveilance since Saturday night because this guy could not be found and everyone was worried that he would return and go postal. Since I have gotten along well with him I was elected to hang with the cops this evening to help identify him if he did show up. This was more than a little nerve wracking! And boring. Long story short....he finally showed up at home and his wife called the cops and had him admitted (committed) to a mental hospital for observation.
I am glad to be able to come to Foo and the land of normalcy. ;)

Vega, we'll take it one race at a time. I like to ride and plan to do a few of the Asheville TT rides next year. Just so you know I went ahead and washed the kit for tomorrow. Don't want to offend anyone on my first trip to the flatlands (Hickory is not quite flat).
