View Full Version : what do you use for fenders?
just getting a used bianchi cross concept. I'll ride it on the road in bad weather and off road for fun. Anyone have any recommendations for fenders during those really wet days?

SKS fenders. They come in black and silver.

Treaded tires XC throw way less water than slick\semi-slicks I find.
I just run treaded tires wet season.
Moist crotch, my fave 2 words in the english language.
I'm too lazy to take 'offenders' off.
Enough trouble switching out my tires constantly (I need 2 wheelsets).
Fenders are fine, I usually just run a rear as my front tire is always an aggressive tread.
My knobbed rear throws little water, if I use a semi-slick, I need plastic shorts or a fender.

SKS, Zefal, Planet Bike. There is very little difference, they all work fine.
If you want to extend the life of your drivetrain and stay clean as much as possible you need a flexible mud flap almost to the ground. Two thicknesses of tubes will flex over anything even powder snow.
I've heard of wood fenders as well. It sounds kind of strange to have wood fenders on a bike though.

Look pretty cool with wood track rims.
Bamboo has been used as tubing as well.
