I listened to Killer and Billion Dollar Babies today, both early '70s. Guess they're oldies.
Still rock, though!

You mean like Devo? Or do you mean Esquerita? Bobby Bland or Rick James? I'm listening to Big Bill Broonzy right now. Good ol' Chicago Blues. Lightning Hopkins was on earlier. Before that, Eric Clapton's self-titled album. But before that, it was Gary Numan and Tubeway Army. I've got The Fun Boy Three on deck.
I play the random records game a lot. Close my eyes and pull a record out of the cabinets. Last night I went from David Bowie to the soundtrack for "The Spy Who Loved Me", which has a killer disco version of the James Bond theme song.
Spun a Todd Rundgren collection a few nights back. "Boat on the Charles" is one of my favorites.
Viva la Vinyl!

Oh. Pleasant Valley Road is a rural, steep road in my area. Since I don't have a picture, I have to settle for a screen capture from Google Maps.

I noticed you didn't mention the Osmonds ;)
I'm stuck in the 70's maybe its the feelings(memories) I get from the songs.
Before MTV, songs were usually tied to a time in your life. And the 70's were my happiest
Grade school and Jr.High
Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band "Live Bullet" great live album.
Natbush City Limits, Turn the Page, Katmandu, Beautiful Loser, Travelin' Man and a rocking version of Bo Diddley

Badfinger
Elton John
Carol King
Chicago
Michael Murphy
Led Zepplin
Doobie Brothers
REO Speedwagon
Kansas
Boston

A couple one hit wonders:
Sammy John (Chevy Van)
Looking Glass (Brandy)
And, I can only admit when I'm pretty anonymous.......Barry Manilow

I'm an Elton freak and I can't believe I forgot Blood,Sweat & Tears.
And in the 70's I owned about 4-5 Manilow albums. I think my mom has them now.
Pretty sure I'll get her Barry's new album, he covers alot of oldies I'm thinking 30's & 40's. Mom will love it!
Of course I'll load it into my computer also :D

Well I love listening to that sort of music, but I don't know a lot about it. I'm actually more fond of slightly newer music, especially The Andrews Sisters. :)

Don't know. Don't think I've heard of the Osmonds. What era do they come from? If its pre-80's then it will probably be pretty pressed to find me listening to it.
Crikey! I remember Donie before he had big boy hair
"Won't you go away (little girl)
Wish you wouldn't stay (little girl)
Won't you go away (little girl)
Wooo ooo go away.
Go away little girl
Go away little girl
I'm not supposed to be alone with you
Oh yes I know that your lips are sweet
But our lips must never meet
I belong to somebody else and I must be true."
What are you doin' tonight
Got no place to go
Gotta get out of the city
Why don't you come along with me
Mighty fine out tonite
getch your girl and hold her tight
We can take it nice and easy
Wont long til we'll be, we'll be
Down by the lazy river
Come as you please
Down by the lazy river
Everybody follow me
The Osmonds Phase III album
Got it for my B-Day along with Jesus Christ Superstar 1972 :D

John Conlee - Common Man
That is one of my theme songs!!!!
Oldies to me are from the 60's and back. A few weeks ago was my neices first birthday. A cellphone in front of my brothers and myself started ringing. It was a Pink Floyd ringtone. We start looking at the people our age (late 20's to mid 30's) and asking who's phone it was. Then the 14 year old girl from next door grabs the phone. We were stunned at first, then we thought it was cool that someone that young appreciated Pink Floyd.

What, nobody listens to Lawrence Welk? Liberace? Doris Day? Someone has to have "How much is that doggie in the window?" on their MP3 player. C'mon, fess up... :p
Actually, I'm mostly there with midgie and soonerschwinn. Replace Barry Manilow (...ya know ya make me wanna puke...) with Earth Wind and Fire, and that "Chevy Van" with a "Hot Rod Lincoln", and we can talk. ;)

Whoa Lawrence Welk.......
The only reason I know him is because he used to come on right before George Paige of Nature on PBS (years ago, back when tv was actually worth watching)

I grew up watching Lawrence Welk, every Sun evening at my Grandmas.
I thought it was neat, cuz Robbie Douglas's (my 3 sons) wife Tina Cole and family were singers and of course Mouseketeer Cubby was one of the dancers.

I dont think i've ever watched more then 5-10 mninutes of Lawrence Welk. I don't recall there being any music I liked either :P Uuslay it was the last 2 minutes because often times Nature was set to record at like 7:58 pm so you'd catch the credits.

Record? Record? In 1969 there was no record ;)
You watched what was on when it was on.
You prayed it was your chance to sleep at Gramma & Grandpas. If that meant Lawrence Welk along with saturday morning shopping with Gramma.
You take the good with the bad :D
