Framebuilders - Anyone Ever Retro-fit an Independent Drive on a Tandem Frame?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Has anyone ever tried mounting DaVinci's Independent Drive kit (available on their website for $350) to a tandem frame? I am considering mounting it to a Trek T200. I would also need to find a frame builder who would be willing to do the work.

Looks interesting, but I thought you had to have cranks in phase or at 90 degrees to avoid problems with foot interference.
You achieve is similar result using freewheel cranks (they have standard freewheel threads where the spide normally sits). Simply have a freewheel where the stoker's left chainwheel normally goes and the captain could freewheel independantly (but he or she couldn't pedal while the stoker freewheeled, so it's a bit useless really).
I suggest calling Davinci. They are very nice people and may be able to recommend a builder in your area to do the retro.
