Foo - Lance is apparently a major tool off of the camera...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

There's some harsh stuff going on about the break-up. Some guys from Austin writes about Lance's true colors off camera: Read on for what it's worth ;)

"This couple had no chemistry and zero interesting qualities. Sheryl should get back to her original hair color, gain 10 lbs of soft womanly curves, and remember she's a MUSICIAN, not and ATHLETE. Lance should just jack off into the mirror, use his yellow rubber bracelet as a penis ring, smear his spooge all himslef and fall asleep sucking his thumb with visions of stupid bike races in his head. Self-absorbed competetive athleticism meeting creative musical talent was bound for failure from the get-go. Sheryl Crow if far from a musical favorite of mine. But you people who claim that she's a no-talent hack need to get bent. Her radio songs suck, but the woman has an impressive body of work and who cares if she blew anyone to get herself there. I once blew a music venue owner and got myself a gig in his venue. Guess what? He was an okay guy, I blew him because I wanted to, not because I wanted something out of it. Bonus if I did. Bonus to Shreryl for rising above the depths of school-teacher middle class hell in BFE to make something of herself. But GD, I cannot stand that Lance Armstrong. What a ******."

I doubt if there are many celebrities who aren't major tools off camera. I think most of them are screwed up in the head.

schadenfreude \SHOD-n-froy-duh\, noun:
A malicious satisfaction obtained from the misfortunes of others.
That the report of Sebastian Imhof's grave illness might also have been tinged with Schadenfreude appears not to have crossed Lucas's mind.
-- Steven Ozment, Flesh and Spirit
He died three years after me -- cancer too -- and at that time I was still naive enough to imagine that what the afterlife chiefly provided were unrivalled opportunities for unbeatable gloating, unbelievable schadenfreude.
-- Will Self, How The Dead Live
Somewhere out there, Pi supposed, some UC Berkeley grad students must be shivering with a little Schadenfreude of their own about what had happened to her.
-- Sylvia Brownrigg, The Metaphysical Touch
The historian Peter Gay -- who felt Schadenfreude as a Jewish child in Nazi-era Berlin, watching the Germans lose coveted gold medals in the 1936 Olympics -- has said that it "can be one of the great joys of life."
-- Edward Rothstein, "Missing the Fun of a Minor Sin," New York Times, February 5, 2000
It is pathetic how people care so much about the personal lives of celebrities, but LA has it coming, he always used his personal life to boost his celebrity status.
So this places LA firmly in the supermarket tabloids for a while, where he apparently wants to be. Sad way to endup, not much dignity. I guess you can take a boy out of the trailerpark..

He used/is using his status to talk about things that matter to him. Cancer research for one. If you chose to listen then you're making him a celebrity. He probably doesn't want the publicity of the breakup yet there will be endless threads being created on the forums discussing it ad nauseum, raising the event to a celebrity breakup.

i'm from austin (where lance is from) and i know several people that have said he's a ****ing *******. then again, i hate sheryl crow, so i'm sad they broke up. they both suck and should be together. oh well. the only thing better than them being miserable together is them being miserable and alone mwahahha
Well, I guess since someone heard someone else say that Lance is an *******, it really must be true.

You can't believe everything you see on the internet. For example, sometimes a bid on Ebay is not really a bid. Sometimes a guy isn't really in Wisconsin when he says he is. And more than likely people posting on an obscure blog have never met LA.

The resentment, pettiness, and generally nasty feelings trotted out on this thread are more embarrassing than any excesses by Lance or Sheryl...after all, we're "real" people and should know better. Cycling is a life affirming action; burping up all this ill feeling against two people whom we really only know through flickering media images or tattle-tale gossip seens beneath dignity.

I don't really give a hoot one way or the other, but I'm sure anyone with a type A personality will be an ass from time to time.
LOL....All you "hollier than thou" types just get over yourselves. Geez.

Well said.
A classic case of crowd mentality, a bunch of losers feeding off each other's venom, most of whom are too feeble to have a mind of their own.
How pathetic! Even if I was in agreement with some prevailing opinion, I wouldn't be such a wuss as to throw another log onto a fire of hatefulness.
What losers!

flipping through some of his books at the bookstore does give me the impression that he is a stuck-up jerk. I think there was one time where he wrote "I let him pass me thinking he was all strong... I dropped him later down the mountain" - that sounds like something a sixteen year old would write on this forum. He's a pro, he should act like it

The real tabloid test to see if a story is all that good is to remove the fame names and see if it is still interesting.

cause you`ve sat down and actually talked to LA right? no? even met him? no? well then.....
even people that have met him, or "know" people that have, so what? maybe they got the wrong impression, jumped to conclusion, or just generaly didn`t get along with him cause of different personalities... some people just aren`t always understood except byr a select few that are friends with that person...

just leave the guy alone. we all know the media blows things up in the worst possible way to sell news papers, draw attention, and just be a general pain in the ass, the guy is a popular athlete, not a nominee for best personality of the year contest...
besides, 9/10 people bashing lance are just jelous of the money, popularity, fitness, acheivments, or some other aspect...

It's also funny who we call successful. Armstrong left his first wife and kids. Then hooks up with this one and gets engaged. Then calls off that relationship. Sounds pretty successful to me.

While I don't want to pry into Lance and Sheryl's personal life any more than I'd want someone prying into mine (I could care less about the particulars)...I do have one comment on all this. I find it very hard to take Lance seriously when he opens his mouth except in a few limited circumstances. Back in '03 (i think that was the year), on and off with kik - then lovey-dovey right before the Tour, then divorce a month later. Now with Sheryl - several similar sorts of things going on, including claiming to the public "I love the MGM because that's where I met my fiancee" and then only a few short weeks later, it's all over. It looks like a similar pattern. What's a publicity stunt and what's real? If Lance speaks out about cycling or cancer, I'll take him seriously. When he says anything about his personal life? Forget it. If he ever appears on Oprah again, I won't bother to tune in unless he's talking about his livestrong campaign or something, but if it's to trumpet or show off another relationship with someone else (in whole or in part), I've got better things to do with my time.
It's also funny who we call successful. Armstrong left his first wife and kids. Then hooks up with this one and gets engaged. Then calls off that relationship. Sounds pretty successful to me.
C'mon, now. People beat up on him, not because of his interpersonal relationships, but because he is a rich and world famous athlete. He is rich and famous because he is successful as an athlete. I know people around my area that don't do well with interpersonal relationships either, but their name doesn't get into the paper because of it.
