I've been hauling skis with my Tubus Cargo rack for a while now, and I think the Cargo is ready made to haul skis around...

Here's a few pics. I currently live a good 4 hour bike ride from the snow in the mountains, otherwise I'd be putting this carry method to use a lot more often. I put a strap over the skis and rack, and a slow moving vehicle triangle on the tips at the back.

If everything goes as planned, i'm going to ride 'em this way on some bike-n-ski blitzkreig tours this spring.

I take it your skis don't extend too far back behind your rear wheel? I have sometimes monkeyed around trying to fasten my 209 cm cross country skis to my bike... I think it might be done without Xtracycle or similar accessories, but it would require some planning.

naw, those skis are 190's, Juha. I think with most size skis, the toepiece would be on top of the rack.

They move the weight back a little bit, but its not too bad. Got to watch the turn clearance!

here's some pics with 215s in there. They're the longest skis I have :D I just slid them on from the back like a bayonet. The 215s do stick out a little bit...
