General Cycling Discussion - double water cages - search help

sorry for a request for an old thread but I can't seem to get the right search terms happening.

someone posted back about some water bottle cages that were basically 2 cages in front of each other, offset so that you could have 2 full sized water bottles leaning against each other in 2 bidons attached at one point to the frame.

I have a smallish frame, so the space for the second water bottle is limited and inconvenient. Not so keen on the behind the seat idea so would like to find the web site advertising these double water bottle cages again.

I just saw a double holder (one bottle on top of the other rather than one in front) in a current UK bike magazine - either Cycling Plus or MBR.

It was one of the trade show reports (Las Vegas?) and noted that it didn't have a UK supplier as yet.

They have some of these at my LBS in the 1/2 price clearance bin!

The other option, rather than go for 2 normal sized cages, go for 1 big one - Wiggle sell a PET bottle cage (1.5 liters) mail order

Otherwise you can fit normal cages elsewhere on the frame - I have four fitted

1 in the normal place inside the triangle
2nd on the down tube
3rd below and behind the seat,
4th on the bottom of the triangle, so on the outside of the main cog.

At a push I could fit a couple more if I had to.

Blimey brains that sure is a lot of water. Are you a diabetic triathlete or do you stop for a wash when your out cycling? he he :D

2 bottles are for water, (inside the triangle), the one behind the seat is for my air-zound horn air resovoir which is in a bottle, and the fourth is the one on the outside of the triangle by the main cog that is either for water in somewhere like the south of France in August, or for fuel when on tour in more northern climes.

I also rather liked the look a water bottle which opened up lengthways and reveiled a full bike toolkit. But that would have been silly to have 5 cages on a single bike.

Having a tool kit inside a water bottle is a really neat idea. I once cut the top of a bottle and used that taping the two halves together but the top kept coming off. Where have you seen a proper one? I'd be interested in buying one.:)
And the air res for an air horn sounds good too how do you top it up with a pump?

I had a look on the Wiggle mail order site, they don't do the tool box in a bike bottle kit that a friend of mine has, he thinks he bought it whilst on tour in Holland a few years ago

As for the Air-Zound horn, yes, you pump up the bottle to about 60 psi and then you get about 10 blasts at the same level as a car and 10 more at normal bike horn level

However I still have a bell as well, it means when you come up silently behind people you don't make them jump thinking 40 tons of truck is right behind them

I think Woolworths had them last Christmas, but they were pretty cheap and nasty.

Brilliant, thanks very much. I was thinking that it might have been in one of the weekly roadbikerider.com emails that I saw them mentioned - and they don't have a web archive of old emails - so I was stuck.

I would have never found them - actually if I had gone to google and typed "single mount dual water bottle cage" I would have got it.

Now if I could only get the LBS to get some in ...
