Frame Builders in Eugene Oregon?

Hey there everyone,
I'm new to the site(and to bikes in general). I am thinking of buying an EZ-1 recumbent frame(slightly modified, mostly weight reduction and geometry corrections) but have been told its too heavy. Is there anyone near Eugene oregon who would be willing to help me out with this? Or ideas as to where to learn this stuff?

I lived in Eugene until 2001. There used to be a place at the end of Washington Street just before the park by the river. It was kinda like a bike builder's co-op were you could rent space and tools to work on bikes.

Yeah, the Center for Appropriate Transportation. There cool people out there, although they don't offer any classes if you're not enrolled in their school.Its a highschool.

I "live" in Eugene (I work for the State Dept and actually reside in Afghanistan right now) and know of co-motion and bike friday. Never actually visited co-motion, but I did stop in at Bike Friday (right on the bike trail west out of town) and was very impressed with their weird bikes. I rode one and if you close your eyes it is like riding a full size bike. With my career it made sense, but then I visited Vanilla Cycles in Portland on a trip, and fell in love with that guy's work. Long story short, after much debating I am having a cutom Vanilla frame made. One downside is a 15 month wait list to start the frame build, but quality is worth it. You have to see his stuff first hand to know what I mean. You can see pics online at his website, just google vanilla and bicycle. Anyhow,that's my input.
