Today was my first mulit modal commute on my 'new' Dahon Jetstream P8. New in the sense it is the first time I have had it out since I made a few mods.
I have put on fenders, a Syntace handlber mount and Dual Drive (24 speed). So, how did these mods affect the ride? I think it made a great folder even better.
My usual drive to work is 40 minutes but given I met a co-worker for the ride this morning the labyrinth of bridges, stairs and what not, it took me 1.5 hours on the bike. I have a rather long winding mountain road descent from my house to the train and the bike felt awesome at speed and the new Syntace bars gave me a touch more stretched out position. As with all Dahons the riding geo is great (I am 5 11) but these new bar mounts are just the ticket.
The Dual Drive? Well, I will report on that tomorrow after I tackle my darn mountain road tonight!! :)
All in all it was a very comfortable ride indeed with the rear suspension taking the edge off potholes etc. The front Kinetix forks work just fine and again take the edge off.
Only thing I think I will change in the near future is to swap out the tyres for some Big Apples and perhaps, just perhaps try and source a 20" German A front fork.
