I would just like to say that not all police are as bad as the one encountered by Badger last weekend

Something happened to me Just after 9pm last night (Tuesday) that some of you may find interesting. As usual, I was riding home after a late night lecture at university, and some lunatic decided to throw a plastic bottle filled with egg at me (why would someone go to the trouble of filling a plastic bottle with egg?).

My next port of call was the Surfers Paradise police station (Southport would have been closer, but I needed a few extra km to calm down a bit) where I reported the details. The officer who was there actually called the owner of the vehicle, while I waited, and it would seem the culprits will be brought in for questioning.

I can't quite believe that I was actually able to remain calm throughout the whole process. At first I really wanted to decapitate this guy outright, but when it happened I just calmly pulled over, got out the pen and wrote down a few details. And I didn't even rant at the police officer! Can you believe that?!

I am assured I will be kept posted on how this progresses. I am also assured that the driver will at the very least be "ticketed", and that there may be a possibility of assault charges later. Luckily, I didn't suffer any physical damage, as my helmet took the initial impact. I always thought motoring primates were a buch of "tossers", now I know for sure.

Chris--Man , I'm glad you were wearing that helmet. Reason 1001 to have it on. Of all the stunts drivers pull this is one of the worst. What is it ? mass X velocity= force? Difficult concept for the "motoring primate."
On a motoring primate scale would this be an ape, chimpanzee, or baboon ranking?!! The way you chose to respond to this incident earns my respect. ride long and prosper!! stan

Very good, Chris. I hope the assault charges will be brought--that's what it was.

Chris,

In my own experience, it's not the attack that's the worst, it's the mark of disquiet it leaves on my spirit.
It's like a broken record reminding me of something that should never have happened in the first place.

I just always try to maintain my own peace because that's what I don't want ANYONE to take away from me!

Peace!

(You're still my hero!)

That's why I felt I needed the extra few km to calm down enough to make a sensible report. It's amazing what a ride on a beautiful night alongside the ocean can do for the status of one's temper.

I guess that's another one for bike vs car, inside a metal box you can't have those experiences to make you rational when road-rage happens.

Yeah--the times those jerks threw firecrackers at me, it didn't make me angry nearly so much as sad. A mixture of sadness and disgust that people can act that way. It still makes me feel that way, when I think of it.

It was a good move calming down first. I am sure the police were more cooperative. If you were screaming, he might have thought you were acting that way on the road.

Glad you are ok and it sounds like some justice will come of it.
