because i want to show off my new boil kettle and burner setup!

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b353/jhota42/boilkettle.jpg

15.5 gallon Busch keg with the top cut off and a new 65,000 btu/hr burner. i can boil all 5 gallons of wort now, and with my new wort chiller (not shown, just a coil of copper tubing) i can get it into the fermenter with yeast in under 30 minutes. i am really loving it...

can't wait to get this batch into the secondary fermenter so i can do another one...

I have the exact same burner and keggle, works awesome. My wife got me a 14.5 gallon stainless conical for Christmas, I'm going to start doing 10 gallon batches, good stuff

Nice. I'm still brewing on the stove. Which, given the frequency with which I brew, is ok.

Yes jhota. :) Seems we have the same interests (and forum memberships) mate...

I'm getting a setup like kai's as soon as the CFO lets me.

Yep. Hopefully your keg is stainless steel and not aluminium. Here's my setup. Simple, but makes some tasty brew. Unfortunately I haven't been able to brew anything in quite some time. Cheers!

stainless all the way. it replaced a perfectly good stainless pot - that was only a 20 qt size. too small.

Awesome setup. I'm still using the old stovetop, which is fine except when I add the hops.....my wife hates the smell.
I have a question though. How can you get to the fermenter in 30 minutes? I boil for an hour minimum, but am always looking for a shorter way.

I drink my own beer if that counts.

sorry, should have been clearer. haven't shortened boil time any - that's mostly determined by whatever i'm making. but i also got a new wort chiller, which is freaking unbelieveable. beats the hell out of a sink full of ice, let me tell you. it used to take me up to two hours to get the wort temperature down low enough to add the yeast - now it's insanely quick.

Pretty cool - my roommates and I do very small-scale brewing (about a 1/4 gallon at a time), but once I get out of this apartment I'm going to try to get a setup something like that.

Certainly better than buying beer, especially in a 3pt state...

no doubt. I'm still doing 2 gal boils with the ice 'o sink method, which works ok, but for 6 gal boils would be ridiculous. a buddy has a tower setup with chillzilla wort cooler. That is the shiznit!
