I just stay inside that day.

I hope I get that ipod video for valentines day. *Crosses fingers*.

Personally, I'm impartial to VD. VD is great now because I am with someone but I didn't mind VD when I was single either. It's just a day to be extra nice to people I guess, that's the way I view VD anyway. I hope to share my VD with you all on February 14th.

Valentine's day is fake. It's a designated, have to prove it or else you get in trouble day. Love should be expressed all of the time, in little ways, not just on a certain given day. It provokes expectations, disappointment, and heartache (for those who have lost a loved one or are single). For some, it's a reminder of what could have been, what was and what isn't.

My friend's girlfriend told me that she expects a diamond ring and a proposal this year. Little does she know that he never plans on her being his wife.

My friend's fiance died of a heart attack one week before Valentine's day. She cried and cried and cried on "that day of love". All it did was remind her that he was gone.

An older lady friend of mine whose husband of 53 years passed away. She commented on how this will be the first year he won't bring her flowers......

I don't like Valentine's day anymore.

Me to. Another money grab. Personally I like being spontaneous, I don't like some holiday telling me I need to be nice to my gf :)

The worst one is "Sweetest's day". I told my girlfriend that I refuse celebrate it. I never know what to get her anyway, so I go with a single rose and dinner.

Its my sisters birthday that day, also its my boyfriend birthday a week later so its just a crazy time of the year for me.
Its never been a day where I demand love from the other. I agree its kinda silly to just express your love that day.
Now what I remember about V-day is your younger years when the boy you want to like you at school gives you one of those silly cards.

Valentines day sucks even if you aren't single. My girlfriend in High school probably cost me 300 bucks or so when you add up valentines days. And thats on a bikeshop salary  If you ask me, its just a big scam for the stores. I'm single now, so Valentines day represents saving at least 100 bucks or so.

An IPOD? Whatever happened to flowers or candy? I have to tell you, I have been in love but none of my boyfriends have ever gotten more than a card or a home cooked dinner. Young kids today. *sheesh* *waving cane*

Sweetest Day does not exist here.

I hate it too. Sure "paying my half of the rent" will work for Christmas, but not for Valentines!!!WTF!!!!! And then I get "but there are free things to do." Yeah its called staying at home and watching Supernatural and drinking Lone Star.

Most likely I will be taking my wife out to eat, waiting forever to get seated, missing Supernatural, oh and I would have to drive to work instead of ride the bike. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edit: This is our first Valentines being married, so I guess something special has to be done. I just don't want to set the bar too high for the following years.

if you're with the right person valentine's day can be whatever you make it. don't fall into the hallmark garbage and get your SO a balloon package with a teddy bear. that's just crap. our tradition is to get a bucket of fried chicken, a bottle of nice wine, and watch movies in our bathrobes. that's what we both like, so that's what we do. hallmark can kiss my ass.

Lately, Valentine's Day falls in with all the other holidays. I generally ignore them, too. Well, unless there's free food involved(especially pie)!:D I like to get flowers on totally random days and just be like, "Happy Tuesday, you bastard!" More fun that way. Plus, they think you're sweet if you leave out the "bastard" part.

They have to do it just like it's the usual thing for the guy to propose just like it's your job to remember anniversaries and just like it's your job cause I said so!!!!! lol... happy stressful under pressure day!!! :)

That's almost my sentiments about Christmas.

I still remember receiving my favourite ever Valentine.

Actually scratch that,I still remember receiving my only ever Valentine. It was from my mother when I was ten because she felt sorry for me not receiving one from anyone else.

My talent for being single at this time of year is still strong.

I'd like it a lot better if the NPR announcers would shut up about their $120.00/dozen roses and let me hear the news.

Flowers, chocolate, dinner - it's the least I can do for my wife.

No, the least you could do for your wife is nothing. That's certainly all I'm doing for your wife.

How 'bout if I say that's the least I can do for her in good conscience.

In theory, a degree of subjectivity would be argued on this one, afterall, there exists the possibility that your wife has recently maligned you or even sworn off eating dinner. However, as the subjectivity is rather personal in nature I would have to be both bored and stupid to call you on it.
