Time for the butt sniffing!
Ok, I live in Ottawa, where I'm studying philosophy and political science, and wreaking a bunch of havoc. I ride road, mountain, urban assault, little folding bike mayhem, old english 3-speed cruising (well, my oldest is a '56), whatever. When I was a kid I rode BMX and built dirt tracks with my buddies. I have aspirations to finally build a fixed-gear. I consider 'bents too static for my liking. I need to jump! Or at least swerve rediculously. I recently quit my bike couriering job because it conflicted far too much with school, and the company was one large a-hole. But it was fun nonetheless. To explain my biking style I could just say that the other bike couriers consider me a crazy and fast rider. I think that says a lot :) But I'm always in control and ride within my limits (except for those moments of adrenaline pumped hysteria!).
Anyhow, I ride full year, and disdaine cars. I wish I could fix and repair everything with my bikes, but unfortunately I still don't know 3-speed internal geared hubs. I also can't weld. Fortunately I haven't need that skill yet :) Although a chopper would be fun.
Aside from bikes (what else is there?) I'm involved with various political aggitator groups in Ottawa. The terms anti-capitalist anarchist, anti-globalizationist (is that a word?) are often used, but I don't prefer them. Usually when someone asks me my politics it ends up in a lengthy discussion of beauty.
About 6 years ago my bike goal was to ride full year, including all those REALLY bad days. Now my goal is to encourage everyone else to do the same. And I've already converted a few :)
Try little folding bikes, they work!
That's all. And that's enough.
