This summer I will be going to Colorado to visit my nephew. He said that I could hang out at the business he owns the whole time if I want. I was invited to feel, touch and play with the merchandise. He also said that if there was anything that I needed or wanted, just let him know, I can have it. This is the business that he is part owner of:

Steel is real. Have him put together a cyclocross for you w/ some Long Shen lugs and Reynolds steel and you'll have something you can ride off-road.

Taiwanese I think. Which is part of China I think. Anyways, no American company manufactures lugs anymore. Just a few craftsman that handmake the lugs. As for another bike, think of it as your sports bike. The one you take when you wanna go fast, but can still bunny hop potholes and jump curbs and steps.
You too huh?
This is all the pope's fault.
I couldn't get the link....but from the comments it appears to be a bike shop. Where in Colorado, and what's the guys name? I lived in there for 5 years, in Colorado Springs.

Colorado ROCKS!!! And whats wrong with being a roadie and a mountain biker??
In this state it should be a requirement!!
OMGod! I am jealous! You gotta get a road bike! ...is the surgery elective?
I wanna go!

An example of lugs: custom frame (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=172682). If your nephew can build something like this for you, I think it'd be a nice addition to the stable.
Edit: the frame linked above is a ss/fg, so it's not a road bike. So you wouldn't be crossing over to the dark side, more like the shady side.

Very cool,
Definately get a raincheck on that, eyes should always come first.
Oh, and I bet you shall be swayed by the dark power of the roadike soon enough....nothing quite as exhilarating as blasting down a nice road like some kind of cracked out cheetah, keeping up with cars, and having pedestrians yell in astonishment to how fast you are gong....seriously, the sheer speed a roadbike can attain is addicition incarnate.

wouldn't it make more sense to just steal the crap in it?
and plus, why would anyone even make a 20,000 ton jack? that's more than the brooklyn bridge weighs.... how the hell you gonna fit the brooklyn bridge plus some stack of smaller bridges on a jack?
You remove the wires and the bridges fold up to stack on top of each other.

MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmaybe. You guys, don't tempt me. I'm easily persuaded. That's why I really shouldn't(but I want to) go to his shop. I'm going there to visit HIM, but he will be at his shop all day. Nothing for me to do but to hang out. Or knowing him, he'll probably let me take a bike out (that I shouldn't do because I might get tempted and I have a hard time controlling myself when I want something REEEEAL bad).

Aiight. We can dump the building here:

And when the neighborhood gets gentrified, we can sell it for mad dough! Til then, we can rent it out as a crack house.

You only have one bike ? You need a road bike. My bulged disk goes road riding all the time. :D

I have one squishy, one hardtail and a comfort bike. Sometimes even the hardtail hurts my back. That's where the comfort bike comes in. That way I can still ride even if it hurts from me lifting heavy objects at work all day.

If you had a partially filled water balloon and pushed on one side of it, all of the fluid goes to one side and stretches that side out. That side is now weaker than the other. When you bend over (on a road bike) your spine will compress the disk (water balloon) on one side and the fluid will go to the other. If the disk is stretched already(bulging), there is a chance of it rupturing. Very painful, very dangerous. They now have recently come up with a replacement disk but that is still in the testing stages, I believe. No road bikes for Siu Blue Wind :(

Sounds painful. So disks aren't actually solid?
Siu Blue Wind
02-09-06, 10:39 PM
No, actually it's like a gel type substance from what I understand. It's a cushioning for the spine.
