General Cycling Discussion - Seeking Full Member Status

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

How long does it take for one to raise beyond the "Junior Member" label. I know, labels are not important, and I do have a lot to learn here on the Forum, but I want to be a "Member" and ultimately a "Senior Member". I want to ride with the Big Dogs. Watch out Pete, I'm gaining momentum!
Fifty posts makes you a Senior Member, and with 100 posts you're Totally Out of Control!

Congratulations on making it to 50 posts without crashing!
Speaking of bugs in the teeth (and admitted this is off-topic for this thread, but if ever a topic didn't deserve a separate one, this is it): what do you fellow forum-ites do when a bug flies into your mouth (because you're singing, of course, not panting...)?
Is it better to establish the size of the bug with your sensory apparatus and then perhaps swallow it if not too large, or just spit the critter out--thereby LITTERING?

Spit! Bugs are nasty... I just had a run in with about 50 fruit flys last week, i spit atleast 40 of them out, the other 10 went down with a few big gulps of water, nasty

It looks like I've got a way to go before I can join the honored ranks of the 'senior members.' I suppose a good way to accelerate the process would be more posting and less lurking. In my defense, I'm...um...shy?

I've been a "senior" for a while. All I had to do was post 50. I just noticed that Steele-Bike has 112 posts and is still JUST a senior member. orguasch has 252 post and still JUST a senior member. Does this mean that I get nothing more elaborate in title until I become a serious addict and have 500 posts? That gives me nothing to look forward to. I liked having a different title with every 25 posts. :(

If anyone can come up with "better" user title, do let me know! As of right now, once you get your 100th post, you can make your own user title ;)

"Food on the bike," thread...
If I can hurl that baby out, it's gone. Otherwise I swallow fast and go into extreme denial. "Oh, people in the Marines do this all the time..."

I have noticed that some bugs taste like spam.
I have a ton more post to go...
I've noticed that some bugs taste bitter. It would be good to have a sweet drink or some peppermints along for a chaser....

Okay. So I'm sitting here, merrily posting away and freely ingnoring the fact that I need to learn 15 minutes worth of information on the Freedmen's Bureau by morning when I realize that I have posted my twenty-fourth post. "Cool," I think. "One more and I will have risen to the rank of 'Member.'" Of course the logical thing to do is to post a small commerative note to memorialize the occation. Seems harmless enough. Of course, that's when the troubles started.
I click on 'submit reply,' eager to see my new title appear on my screen and recieve all the benefits and entitlements that come with my new status. Nothing happens. I click again. Nope. "Fiddlesticks," I think. I assume that the problem is in my browser, so I colse Netscape. Perturbed, but not entirely disheartened, I fire up Internet Explorer. I sign on. I wait. I keep waiting. I tire of waiting and give up. I am confused. Then it hits me.
"How stupid of me," I thought. "There's no problem with my computer. This 'error' happend by design. They're just hazing the new guy!" I now see what a fool I had been to expect to walk into the halls of Membership unchallenged. I was setback at first, but I forged ahead and passed your trial, and I think I'm a better man for it too.
And now, with this, my twenty-fifth post, I award myself the rank of Member. I will hold my head high as I walk to join your ranks. For I am strong. I am cyclist. I am Member.
