I suck, but I'm famous. :)
OK maybe not famous but I raced in my first MTB race this year. Didn't do too well but I feel good that I did it. Two years ago I couldn't make it around the course once without stopping several times to catch my breath. For the race we had to do two laps. Never would have thought I'd ever enter a race when I started riding. Just did it for the exercise. Would have done better except for a meeting with a tree limb which shattered my helmet.

Congratulations. A couple of years worth of baby steps makes a huge difference :)

Good job man! Racing makes you a better rider, where you place is icing.

Right on, dude.
In my first race in 15 years this summer I placed toward the middle of the field. Despondent and irritated, someone reminded me that I just did something very few people can do. He was right.

Keep it up.

Congratulations DG

How's your head?
Will Giro replace the helmet? Hope so.

Congratulations! Good to see a Missouri boy make good. Your time impresses me. I'd consider it a good first race.

Thanks for all you comments. Makes me want to race again! :)
My head is fine now. Had a headache for a few days though. Giro did replace the helmet with a 2003 model. Very good of them. No Fubes, that was the old helmet that I smashed. 2001 model. It had velcro tabs on the Roc-Loc system that were too small. Kept coming loose. Found out later you could get replacement velcro, (larger) from them for free.
