Hi, Y'all!
I'm Rick from Texas. I go by "poppaspoke", because I have been known to do so. Live north of San Antonio in the famous Hill Country. Great road riding here most of the year.
I took up cycling at age 50 (I'm 53). Participate in many club rides and charity events; Lance's Ride for the Roses is my favorite. Have done road races and time trials in Senior Games.
Hello to all you roadies out there!

Hi Willic
Thanks for the welcome! SA is indeed the Alamo town...Lance's hometown Austin is about 60 miles north. I'm situated about halfway between, near the cowboy capital Blanco. The terrain here ranges from gently rolling hills to mountains.
Are you able to do much biking in England this time of year?

Thats great Rick!
The Alamo takes me back to when i was a boy, Davy Crocket was my hero (along with loads other kids). I recall a popular film of that time with Fess Parker as Crocket , all the kids were buying Davy Crocket hats, and fighting a pretend Santa-Anna. lol.
What were those hats "Coon Skin"? the ones with a trailing tail at the back.
If i remember, the song from the movie was a big hit with the kids also. :)
The ROAD cycling here in these parts is really becoming limited now as bad weather seems to have set in . Alternating days of wind or rain and cold with it. Plus when it is dry we get night frosts, to which the council will spread the viscous salt on the roads, this is bad for the cycle and i prefer to keep my expensive road bike off the roads when that sh*t is spread, so when i do get out to cycle its with my old hybrid bike.
Regards Willi`c
